standard definition assets. the 6th gen was a wonderful time where you could crap out a terrible gta clone based on a contemporary tv show and get it released as a full fleged 50$ console title while the show was still on air...
Licensed games yes, but honestly it made it a lot easier for smaller dev who don't have a lot of budget to make a game now. Not everything on mobile is gacha or angry birds, some devs are trying to make actual games on the platform.
There was a whole time where various random films from the 70s to 90s were getting 6th gen vidya adaptations, most of them outside of the scarface and godfather games sucked, and studios closed down over that shit. It literally was just execs looking at Max Payne and GTA 3 and saying "We can do Taxi driver on ps2!". Sopranos was one of them (yes, I know it was a still running tv show)
At the time there were a bunch of crime movie game adaptations that were very successful like scarface and the godfather. They're were others that didn't do so well like reservoir dogs and some that were straight up canceled like that taxi driver game.
The other thing is that there had been a wave of people talking about the cinematic storytelling potential of games since the Ps1, that REALLY ramped up in the early 2000's when games like GTA had cutscenes shown off to people who otherwise had little interest in games beyond novelty. So a lot of these games are sold with the idea of it being "like playing the movie!/episode of the show!

respect
I remember it being pretty bland, kinda ugly and forgettable but not really "bad" either. A revisit might change my mind on that though
The sopranos game, whatever happened there….

The switch to HD really did frick over a ton of smaller devs that suddenly could no longer really afford to make games when they could before.
mobile gaming also played a big role in killing licensed games on consoles.

Best of the bunch is arguably The Warriors, something Rockstar did practically on a whim.
