Unironically I felt that other than the stat point system (other than how to gain +5s) was the perfect blend of complex and simple that was perfect for the mass appeal TES was going for.
I just couldn’t stand the dungeons. The quests were great but every single dungeon save for a couple unique ones were the exact same layout over and over and over again copy pasted. Completely ruined the game for me. At least Skyrim’s endless draugr caves had slightly different maps for each dungeon.
it didnt.
Oblivion replaced the intriguing dark magic world of Morrowind with generic fantasy, biggest fricking downgrade.
But from gameplay, RPG standpoint its massive improvement how it feels and what you can do, its got proper mechanics now whatever than means
Oblivion is Apocalypse of gaming all smart people stopped right there. Quest marker! moron dialog system for kids who can't read. A fantasy world was replaced with Middle Ages theme. RP combat replace with action. Golden age of FPS ended. CRT left the markets.
nah, oblivion did it right. quest markers and fast travel and shit weren't intrusive like they were in skyrim. you still got to explore and fill out your map and just adventure. why even bother talking about melee combat in a TES game, if you aren't using magic and ranged shit that's on you
I played it more recently and it still held up. I thought I'd just try it out for a bit for laughs and then delete it again, but I ended up playing it for 200+ hours. Did the guild questlines, did the arena, just fricked off and explored stuff, closed a bunch of Oblivion gates, etc. There are not that many 15 year old games that hold up like that.
Oblivion set a new standard for open world games by making it so that all of the shit to do in the game is easily accessible so that players don't have to work too hard to find activities and making said shit to do not feel like a slog. Yeah you could just have players run into a goblin cave and kill everything, or you could have it set up so that they first see a bunch of goblins fighting each other with a poor farm girl begging for help because her family is getting caught in the middle of the conflict, thus setting up proper motivation for spelunking into said cave and wrapping the experience together with something that will keep it memorable.
Gaming's defining moment in the 21st century was the release of Halo 3. There is absolutely no arguing with this, whether you like Halo or not. For better or for worse. Honorary mentions go to Grand Theft Auto 3, Skyrim, WoW and CoD: Modern Warfare 2.
no
Can't wait to play Oblivion on my Steam Deck while I chill in bed.
Very comfy anon
damn I have a laptop but it's not so great to play Oblivion with in bed
hope the deck is a success so I can buy one in 5 years
it feel stiff, clunky and annoying to play, the bloom is disgusting and the UI hurts my eyes
>the most basic vanilla looking shit hurts my eyes
How do you function at all anon?
I'll take oblivion's soulfoul UI over skyrim's minimalism appleshit meme ui any day.
This is a game that actually looks better if you turn all of that post-processing garbage off.
oblivion was a shining beacon of color and wonder in the middle of the grey / brown apocalypse generation of gaming. shame skyrim didnt follow suit
Based Patrician of Ganker.
Because it fulfills two most important requirements of an RPG
>build variety and replayability
>amazing quest writing
Oblivion quest writing is overrated as all hell. Decent, but not some shining beacon of quests that all games should strive towards
I love the guild storylines. The main storyline is good too. It's only flaw is that Morrowind surpasses it.
its*
Yes thank you, grammar anon.
>it feel stiff, clunky and annoying to play, the bloom is disgusting and the UI hurts my eyes
wheres the lie
>cancerjak
Drown yourself
-grabs you by the throat- back the frick off!?!?
DON'T DO THIS IT CREATES MUSTARD GAS
Unironically I felt that other than the stat point system (other than how to gain +5s) was the perfect blend of complex and simple that was perfect for the mass appeal TES was going for.
skyrim is better
actually, daggerfall is better
>actually, daggerfall is better
you've never played it though
i haven't?
bitch
at nothing.
Yes.
cope
>can't enjoy Oblivion
>blames others
>doesn't blame himself
Very sad, anon.
do keep coping
Coping with what? I enjoy Oblivion. You don't. You cope.
yes, cope
lol are you moronic, anon?
>lol
cope,moron
I think you should cope.
Idk I just kept going back to Morrowind until Skyrim came out.
I honestly think that a really big part of it is [spoilers] soul.
I have such vivid memories of emerging from the sewers for the first time as a child and [spoilers] Black folk tongue my anus
classic obliviontard
Blessed Oblivion enjoyer is too busy enjoying Oblivion to spend all his time on Ganker. Hence why he didn't know spoiler tags don't work here.
You're the one making the assertation, why don't you tell us?
I just couldn’t stand the dungeons. The quests were great but every single dungeon save for a couple unique ones were the exact same layout over and over and over again copy pasted. Completely ruined the game for me. At least Skyrim’s endless draugr caves had slightly different maps for each dungeon.
Yeah. I would have loved more unique dungeons.
it didnt.

It just sucks, the scaling and copy pasted dungeons ruin the game. Best TES soundtrack though
>peak
every play through I move the "difficulty" bar all the way left
frick this game
How could it be the peak with it's overshadowed by Morrowind? It's a plateau at best.
>That horrible semi-slouched posture
I could fricking MOG everyone in this game just by not having scoliosis
Only the battle stance. When your weapon is sheathed they stand normally.
Oblivion is Apocalypse of gaming all smart people stopped right there. Quest marker! moron dialog system for kids who can't read. A fantasy world was replaced with Middle Ages theme. RP combat replace with action. Golden age of FPS ended. CRT left the markets.
Oblivion is the great BOOMER filter of gaming.

really wish I just stopped gaming here at the peak and focused on school
why morroshitters always come in droves when there's an oblivion thread up, go discuss about your dark elf homosexualry in your own thread
because morrowind threads are filled with 5 different schizos spamming autistic copypastas
>that video
>pure fricking soul
Oblivion? Yes, it is pure kino.
Because you were still young when you played it.
I played it more recently and it still held up. I thought I'd just try it out for a bit for laughs and then delete it again, but I ended up playing it for 200+ hours. Halo 2 was more significant than Halo 3. On release, people meme'd about how Halo 3 was just Halo 2 HD.
better than skyrim, worse than morrowind.
soulless trash. if you likey kys
>soulless
>end game weapons are shiny and glowy
Pick one.
Idc what anyone says, glass armor in Oblivion was awesome. Shiny green meteorite crystal weapons and armor = my kinda shit.
I didn't like the armor, especially the helmet, but the weapons were really cool
>oblivion
>soulless trash
Oblivion is factually awful.
Name a better game besides Dark Souls 1. And no, not Skyrim, I said a BETTER game.
Morrowind.
touche.
But Oblivion is still playable today and Morrowind is tougher to get past in terms of how it has aged.
why were the characters so ugly?
Because making 800 attractive characters is hard. Characters who are important/you speak to a lot tend to have okay faces.
Using the game's character creator, you could make a good looking male/female so it was ok.
Skyrim did everything better
Oblivion is objectively a terrible game but I can't help but find it immensely cosy to play. I think the soundtrack does all the heavy lifting.
