For the same reason film studios are afraid of making thoughtful, well-written movies.

No, you didn't understand what he meant at all : a harder game and a well thought movie might reduce the audience because it's challenging. They want mass appeal, products made easier to consume.

Games cost too much to make nowadays so if you make it difficult then you lost a lot of customers and will go bankrupt

      what is a difficulty setting

        Anonymous

A lot more effort, that’s why most difficulty options result in enemies with higher health and higher damage

It's way more acceptable for games to be difficult than it was a decade ago THOUGH? It was extremely bad in the late 2000's when you had games like Bioshock, Fable 2 and PoP reboot trying to remove death as a game mechanic entirely.

As if From gave a shit about some crying journos as long as they keep selling millions. Hell, even if you look at gaming journos, the vast majority of them praise their games instead of complaining.

Bioshock was doing what System Shock had already done
Only real difference is that System Shock had optional time limits that the revives would make much harder

They work with templates and tick boxes. Gameplay doesn't matter, only two things do: israelite propaganda and lowest common denominator.
If you want hard games, look at Japan, old games, mods for old games or indies.

moron. Boomer on Ganker means nothing of baby boomers. It’s just what zoomers call everyone older than themselves.

They only picked it up after dudes born in the early 90s started calling themselves boomers and labeling Gen Z the zoomers. They made their bed and now they lay in it.

                Anonymous

Millennials called themselves boomers as a joke because of the way zoomers were misusing the term, particularly with the song "OK Boomer" that became well-known for a bit. The joke being that referring to yourself as a baby boomer when you're in your 20s or 30s is obviously ridiculous since baby boomers are in their 70s. Zoomers, lacking any sort of self-awareness or knowledge of anything outside of the internet, didn't understand the joke and thought that it was correct to call anyone older than themselves a boomer because they didn't realize it referred to a specific generation at all. Now we're here, and I wish zoomers would just gas themselves.

Really? I used to see bald guys all the time and didn't mind it when I was younger and had hair. Nowadays almost everyone wherever I go is fully haired and I'm the only bald dude.

To me it feels like it's the opposite. Not that I care because it's just like my dad and granddad and whatever. You just freak out a little when it starts but you can hit the gym anyway.

And nowadays you can get good implants anyway. Just gonna savor this bizarre biological process a little bit more.

This is stupid though. He changed his vision to spite people. Just sticking to his guns would've been way more based. Not bet surprising given Itagaki hasn't put out a good game in ~15 years and his next game is some NFT shit that ironically looks piss-easy.

The funniest part about the NFT game is that the website hasn't been working for weeks.

Very fitting. Whole thing looked like a scam that everybody but Itagaki was in on anyway. Probably canceled, which should be a sigh of relief for those who call Itagaki based since having to explain that AND Devil's Third away would be too hard for them.

Literally scared of the Twitter mob. It's not just game developers, anyone who produces content has to make a decision: Do you risk going out on a limb, being creative and maybe offending some easily offended group who will go on a campaign to tank your sales? Or do you play it safe, produce safe content that can appeal to the most people even if it turns out bland and forgettable?

That's based though, keeping the good stuff for themselves while letting the gaijin eat shit like pic rel.

Doesn't fit into the agile development SaaS model when working with current design trends. When designing a game for the modern controller it is easier for management if they let it settle into the "game that plays itself" groove that was pioneered in 7th gen. As a consequence it is difficult to make a challenging game without it feeling like the game is at fault, because so many of the game's mechanics (moving or aiming) are out of the player's hands.

Because the companies want revenue and the easiest way to do this is to make "cool" games which "represent" cretins and sell overpriced digital character skins.
