I think the main problem is the shortening of everything. Yes, it was a fun experiment: Can we fit our message in X characters? But it has actively contributed to the degradation of everybody involved and everybody not involved.

Multiplayer is fricking shit these days. Between the monetization, the matchmaking, the overpolicing, and the reluctance to fix actual problems with the games, I dunno how people fricking stand it. I stopped playing MP games after the ps3/360 era and never looked back.

I think the main problem is the shortening of everything. Yes, it was a fun experiment: Can we fit our message in X characters? But it has actively contributed to the degradation of everybody involved and everybody not involved.
Messages, matters, issues and the handling of them have all suffered from it. Sometimes, you need a larger dialogue, but modern internet has completely ruined any atmosphere or possibility for constructive debate. Everything is polarized and there will be no going back for a long time.
And sometimes, people should simply just shut the frick up, and not given a forum.

Twitter is absolutely fricking the worst website to look at or browse porn on. It's at the bare minimum OK to get alerted when an artist publishes a new piece, but if you want to look up something specific or do anything but see what an artist has been up to the past week or so I can't think of a worse website to look up porn on.

Pixiv used to be amazing before they translated the website to english, now because of all the westerners using it like nsfw deviantart it's fricking awful. I was kind of hoping nijie would take over as the new main japanese art site but it seems like nobody cares enough to move to it.

Multiplayer is fricking shit these days. Between the monetization, the matchmaking, the overpolicing, and the reluctance to fix actual problems with the games, I dunno how people fricking stand it. I stopped playing MP games after the ps3/360 era and never looked back.
Never have been into multiplayer games. Only played some N64 games and some early 2000's PC games, such as Age of Mythology and CS (1.5 and 1.6).
Just looking at today's matchmaking system makes me feel more antisocial than ever.

Multiplayer experiences are almost always fleeting, it's rare that a multiplayer focused title will succeed, and there's no guarantee it will appeal to you at all. I've tried these hero shooters and MOBAs, I can't stomach them, yet that's what is consistently popular.

Singleplayer games are kind of pairing (or pitting you against) God. It's a metaphor for the wider game of life itself. Being thrown in a strange world to fend for yourself against all kinds of shit thrown at you.. and the unspoken enemy (or friend?) is the guy who made the world you're in.
Multiplayer is for people who don't sweat the big picture and just focus on their fellow man. It's a metaphor for all the daily rat race shit and strife against other people. God doesn't come in the picture. You just want to get ahead of the next poor bastard.
