Why are gamers/otakus so averse to 4k OLED televisions?

You are literally gutting your experience by playing on a small monitor / laptop screen / phone

Especially on Ganker the 3rd worlders will never experience anime properly on their shitty phone/monitors

Most modern games have zero UI scaling, so they are near unplayable on a proper TV setup.

explain how. No console plays at true 4k.

The stats are meaningless until you actually see what they represent. The difference between even the 48" LCD TV I had for years and the 65" OLED is like fricking magic.

        >magic
you sound like the typical moron that just bought a big tv. don't worry, it won't seem that magic in a couple of weeks from now. mare sure to buy one double the size right after, for that magic.

I'm buying a 21:9 or a 4k QD-OLED monitor next month not a TV. Depending on what gets announce and if the new Alienwares will only be a paper launch. If they are I'm just getting the AW3423DWF for like 800 yuros.

    >most anime is is 1080p or even 720p
    >OLED is bad for eyes due to flickering
    >OLED burns in
    >consoles don't play 4K videogames
    >4K on Netflix and other streaming platforms looks worse than properly encoded 1080p anyway
    >only way to truly enjoy 4K is to buy Blu-Ray which is something the consoomers like OP will not do anyway
Why even bother? 4K and OLED are consumerist bullshit.

Everything is a comparison. 1080p is fine if you don't compare it to something else. And even then 1080p is great for 24" which is a very compact size. The only problem I really have with 1080p displays is that games with TAA can get very blurry but if you have the power to render the game in a higher resolution it makes them look good even on your 1080p display.

I have never seen anything in 4k that was a large enough improvement to ever feel justified in wasting money on it when I could waste money improving my game collection or getting new hardware for my pc.

because he is a pleb who watches anime on a fricking phone and not on his home cinema

He's not wearing headphones, and is holding the phone far away from his face, that leads me to believe he's watching it with the speakers on and dubbed.

I've been on a plasma 1080p TV for the last 17 years and it's still working well and have had no issues whatsoever. Why upgrade when it works fine.

If anything I hate how game devs designed their UI for monitors. So they accidentally make texts too small on the TV screens.

They also try to make games "bigger" and have "more" so things have to be made smaller in order to fit.

Do you have one of the extraordinarily rare 120fps plasma monitors? 144hz is just too nice, it was why I eventually retired my plasma

no it's still a 60fps plasma but even then it's still ultra buttery smooth with a PS5 in performance mode

If you sit far enough it looks just as good as 1080p but it's bigger so you can talk how much BIGGER and therefore BETTER you thing is.

Because Japs are backwards simpletons the vast majority of anime is still produce in 720p. What's the point of watching a 4k upscale?

        Anonymous

If you sit far enough from a 1080p screen the same size it'll look the exact same. 4K as a resolution is adding nothing.
And do keep in mind that the size of a screen in your field of vision will always depend on the distance you are from said screen. A trick to make a screen bigger is to just bring it closer to you. Might as well get a smartphone or tablet with a high quality OLED display rather than spend more money on le giant TV

But 4k screens are bigger too so that's not even fair comparison. All this does say is that things look the best when rendered in 4k on a small display.

You don't need monitor bigger than 22", even 24" have blind spots for me when playing
Anything more and you will suffer from small fonts or blind spots, or both

People here are poor. The euros make half the salary of the americans and PC parts are more expensive. I'm surprised they can afford to build subpar gaming pcs.

Their salary is shit but from what I understand about their cost of living, most shit is subsidized by the government. Basically their taxes go towards everything we Americans usally pay for.

What like healthcare? In america you get free healthcare. Simply don't pay the bill and have them send it to you via a fake address. Doesn't impact your credit score

I've always had insurance so I never had to do it that way. Some of my friends live like that. Go to the hospital with some chest pain, walk out with a bill you ain't ever gonna pay and some pills that only kind of work...
