because hindu mythology is nothing but a bunch of DBZ-tier powerwanking
    >MY God has 4 arms and 6 eyes and kills 1000 warrior with every swing of his sword
    >Oh yeah? well MY god has SIX arms and SEVEN eyes and kills 2000 warriors with each swing of his sword

The frick went wrong with Order? Better yet, the frick went wrong with the writing for 5? The gameplay is good, the designs are good, music and graphics are good, why was the writing so ass?

Anon... Lucifer in order and chaos uses the same moveset. His first form (the one you fight on Law and Chaos route) uses regular spells, his second form uses Demifiend's skills from Nocturne and his final form uses YHVH's skills from IVA. It's called theming. He also has his own unique attacks in each form.

I'm still mildly annoyed the "true" final boss fight is a joke because it's lower levelled and way weaker than Shiva, despite the fact that beating Shiva is mandatory to reach him anyways.

          Anonymous

I have mixed feelings about it because he has a really cool moveset, literally has so many skills it doesn't show up on the menu, he would be a great super boss with the stats to match, particularly HP. But there is some theming there too, Nahobino is the new God and he's the old Devil, he also wants you to kill him. Even if you fight him underleveled on NG+, he's still just as easy. The level 90 is largely symbolic.

I think my biggest complaint about SMT5 in general is it feels like your level affects how good you are in combat regardless of your stats way too hard. Like a few bosses I remember getting stuck trying to brute force on and even trying to fight smarter didn't help much because they were higher levelled than me and could just stat check me to death. So I'd gain like 4 levels and go back to brute forcing them and they were dead and couldn't possibly do anything to stop me.

I even started a Solo challenge of SMT5 and got a little past the Hydra and realized this was going to be really fricking boring because all I have to do is be a higher level and the fight's basically over. Maybe I'll revisit it at some point but I don't see it being very interesting.

I don't remember level being that drastic of a thing in previous games. Hell in Nocturne there were times I'd be using demons way underlevelled for where I was and they still carried hard(although that's more because Daisoujou is just really fricking good in Nocturne. I always fuse him ASAP and keep in my party the entire rest of the game)

not to the extent 5 is. Try fighting the same boss twice with a five level difference and notice the huge gap in damage dealt and taken. I haven't seen any "low level" runs of 5 because unlike other games I don't think it's possible.

                Anonymous

You can fight with up to a 10 level difference without running into issue. 5 is also really tightly designed where your exp from quests, story bosses and side objectives always puts you in the right range. The few times you fall outside that range are all by design too. The only people who run into any issue are explicitly low level speed runners. And as to grinding, the other anon is correct, irregardless to how hard the game is underleveled, grinding levels is equally OP in every SMT game, even games without level based damage calculations demon summoning is tied to it. In other words your most valuable resource is always tied to level in every game.

It's not the low end of scaling that's a problem, it's the high end. It's being on par or slightly above a boss turning it into a joke. It's being at a level able to beat Shiva making Lucifer punch like a toddler. Prioritize side quests? Get an extra level or two because there's a demon you really wanted? Too bad the area boss is trivial now. This was my experience on Hard, can't imagine how much easier the game is on normal.

                >You can fight with up to a 10 level difference
Whenever someone says this I know they haven't played on hard. You need only look at what you do to enemies if you're 10 levels higher to understand why the other way around is untenable

I beat all 3 Bethel bosses on hard 10 levels under them. Ra I wouldn't try 10 levels however, he's really hard even at his level.

I think grinding 4 levels beats pretty much any boss in any SMT game. Literally the prime strategy for Mem Aleph.

              Anonymous

SMT5 is the only game where the level thing is that bad, in other games you can be severely underleveled and still win. Matador in SMT3 for example is level 30 boss and the fight is winnable at level 8 at the low extreme and easily manageable by level 15. good luck fighting any boss in SMT5 while being 15 levels down.

2nd and 3rd form are only on true end. It should be noted first form has different properties too, it's level 90 and has higher stats but lower HP than the single form battle. The bestiary has different entries for them, like with Ishtar, partially powered Ishtar and super Ishtar

I don't even know if I'd really call it a musou. It's more of an action RPG, the only real musou-style fight happens right near the start of the game(and right before the first boss, but they're technically the same fight).

Because the only real god in Hinduism is Brahman, the supreme consciousness. Every other god and creation itself is just Brahman's daydream. PS Hanuman is best god

      Anonymous

Thinking of Brahman as a conscious entity is a mistake. All things are Brahman, this does not make the sea and sky sapient or conscious. It just means everything is the same stuff. It's not correct to worship Para Brahman as an individual being anyway, because remember that Brahman is all evil as well as all good.

        >Thinking of Brahman as a conscious entity is a mistake.
Nah, the mistake would be to think that our consciousness and thinking is remotely comparable to Brahman. It is beyond comprehension. PS my bumhole is Brahman.

Admittedly it's been a while since I've read anything related to Hinudism, but didn't Brahma also occasionally appear before people who reached a certain level of enlightenment to grant a request? I remember mostly evil people who reached enlightenment would ask for immortality except against one specific thing(because Brahma would never grant True Immortality as that could cause problems).

He would but always with a funny, obvious caveat that everyone else seemed to know. Can’t be oilled when the sun or moon is up? Killed at dusk.

            Anonymous

I think the people who asked for it were allowed to set their own limit, which made it even funnier. I even based a deity in a /tg/ game I ran based on that.
The Lounging God who was always depicted sitting on his throne bored would grant the wish of anyone who got his attention, although it always seemed like only people with interesting wishes managed to do so(because he was a reality warper who abused his powers for so long that he got bored and just set things back to normal and just watches things now like the world's a reality show, and made sure only interesting people DO find out how to get his attention).
He'll grant near any wish except perfect immortality(not for any moral reasons, he refuses to grant that wish because it's fricking boring), and then if the wish is for immortality, make sure that someone somehow finds a way to beat it. Again, just because it's funny.

The entire point of the Trimurti is that they stand head and shoulders above the other gods. Chief gods are always propped up in Megaten no matter what pantheon.
Moreover, the Sea of Souls is clearly empowered by how many currently living faithful you possess, and India is actually a real place with living hindus doing their shenanigans.

Have you read Indian mythology? Let me tell you how it works: the Indian had a cast of people who were handsomely paid to read stories and to write fanfic. That was literally their entire reason to be, for one thousand years. Read and write fanfics.

So Indian myths reach DBZ level of fanfic. You've got the god that can destroy the planet, but wait there's more, there that guy that can destroy entire solar systems and he's stronger than Goku, but wait there's more, my guy is faster than light and can destroy many solar systems and he's stronger than that guy. Well, MY guy can tank supernova.

All the fricking way down. For centuries.

Indian mythology is crazy and if it seems like badly written Naruto fanfiction, it's basically it is.

Isn't power based on what your role in the pantheon is?

  12. 8 months ago
    Anonymous

I thought the in-universe explanation was that the power of a deity is a combination of how many people believe in it, and how strongly, plus how powerful they imagine it to be. There are more than a billion hindus and their pantheon is full of DBZ nonsense, so of course their deities would be really busted.

I liked the idea of Shiva in this game.

Sentient beings in this world, gods and humans alike, are impure and corrupt and therefore are not suited to create a new world. Instead he will destroy everything and allow the stardust and debris that once shaped the world remake it again, starting nature fresh from scratch.
