Here's a little case study:
>Jap dev creates Castlevania
>Recycles the same formula 4 times
>New dev turns Castlevania into a metroid clone
>Recycles the same formula 8 times
>Gets fired from Konami, starts a new franchise recycling the same games
>Fromsoft decides to make a 'new' franchise
>Shamelessly rips of the Castlevania formula
>Recycles the same concept 5 times
Japs really lack creativity and capacity for innovation huh?
counterpoint: you're gay lol
got xer ass
if it ain't shit then keep using the same format.
Then indie devs make a million copies of the last two
did someone just tell his homosexual about sequels or something?
>He says when one of the most popular series ever made is CoD, a western series built on rehashing
CoD consistently innovates thoughever
Where's the Japanese bioshock?
>Where's the Japanese bioshock
Biohazard
lol
lmao even
Literally a 1:1 of Castlevania except 3D
>Literally a 1:1 of Castlevania except 3D
The music of the Souls games is pretty shit so its already not Castlevania
This thread is a fricking joke. Like what the frick is this
Since it's 2023 I'm honestly not sure if people here are being genuine or just trolling. I'm literally discussing video games with people who hate Japanese games and think that CoD is better
>but it's just baiting and trolling
Again, it's Ganker in 2023 so I wouldn't be so sure about that
I'm the OP and I LOVE Castlevania. But all of the games are the same. Same combat, same castle design, literally copy pasted sprites, weapons and souls
It's very grindy. IGA is lucky the games are so fun but you can swap between Castlevanias seamlessly.
The majority of Jap games are dogshit however, that's a fact.
Based
I AM MONGORIAN, i kirr Chinese for runch, i am descended from Tengri(Ghengis Khan).
Almost every Castlevania game is different enough to stand on its own. I haven't played any of the Metroidvanias though. Can you give an example of a franchise that reinvents itself with each new entry? A franchise is a franchise, you play the next entry if you want more of the same. Tired of the same shit? Go play something different and then come back when you crave for more. Since you love Castlevania you almost definitely replayed some of them, now imagine how cool it would be if there were more games in the series so you'd play some new CV instead of replaying something you would have had already beaten
>Can you give an example of a franchise that reinvents itself with each new entry?
Street Fighter
>now imagine how cool it would be if there were more games in the series so you'd play some new CV instead of replaying something you would have had already beaten
Now imagine if each Castlevania was unique and packed with flavour unique to that game meaning that you could endlessly replay the games because they are all so high quality
>You could endlessly replay the games because they are all so high quality
That's what most classicvanias already are, again they focus on great music and gameplay, not gimmicks and "being original", most games that are "original" or "innovative" fricking suck, ask your hero Phil Fish.
> if each Castlevania was unique and packed with flavour unique to that game
This is how they are though
>Where's the Japanese bioshock?
A diluted and simplified version of a better game?
But the same happens in the west though...
Besides sometimes refinement is more important than innovation
Simon's Quest is totally different from CV1
>make Mario: recycles the same game until they go 3D, then recycles the same game forever
>make Zelda: recycles the same game until they go open-world, they recycle the same game forever
>make Pokemon: recycles the same game for 25 years
>make Metroid: recycles the same game until they go FPS, then recycle the same game for years
Yeah, Japs are an embarassment
Because they want to play great videogames, since videogames have been perfected decades ago the best thing to do is to reuse the same formula.
Dark soul ISNT castlevania you moronic shit eating mongoloid dullard
>mongoloid
tall nose man, i am PVRE mongoroid BVRR
>never recycled a game
>all of his games play differently from each other
apologize
yeah cause westerner game dev are better.
ea make fifa, never change it
make need for speed, still racing game that hasn't change since 20 year.
all Bethesda and ubi game are even worse. if u just compare surface lvl yeah lot of game are the same
>western dev develops doom
you finish the rest
>4 times
If you're going off of the (incorrect) premise that all pre-SotN games are the same, there's actually 10 of them, 12 if you count Haunted Castle and vampire Killer and 13 if you count Legends (technically post-SotN but plays more like a Classicvania)
>8 times
SotN, GBA trilogy, DS trilogy (also all extremely distinct games, closest being Aria/Dawn of Sorrow), that's 7. What's number 8?
There are also two Kid Dracula games, did you count them?
