The localization actually made her way more violent than in the Japanese. It's constantly changing stuff from like "Stop saying that" or "Surrender now" to like "Say that again and I'll punch your teeth in" or "Surrender or else I'll break your legs". Basically a violent cavewoman with a stick compared to the original

If by "choices" you mean the ability to choose your party, the later Cold Steel games are much better about letting you customize your party and individual abilities.
