It does happen if you play with random divorced gen X boomers at cons or your local club.
Most of your problems indeed can be solved by just playing with your friends.

If you have to say you're charismatic, you're not charismatic. Weirdos have to imagine this, because they can't act normal irl. That's why the chill normalgay guy who plays a human fighter always ends up as the actual party face.

      Anonymous

The human fighter gay is the one who says he is charismatic but actually isn't.
In an all martial campaign (Outside of I who was the lone wizard and then cleric after that wizard died) it was often the orc barbarian who was the actual charismatic one, which was fricking weird.

        Anonymous

Among normal people the guy who picks human fighter and orc barbarian are literally the same. The autism and counter-autism over humans and fighters don't exist for normal people outside.

          Anonymous

They imply different imagery and somewhat different tastes, but the distinction certainly gets blown out of proportion on /tg/, human male fighter is really just a local meme.

High STR means you lift tons off the ground.
High DEX means you can dodge bullets.
High CON means you can get barraged by bullets like they are airsoft pellets.
High INT means you are practically proficient in most skills under the sun.
High WIS means you can read people like open books.
So why can't high CHA mean you can influence people to ridiculous degrees?

      Anonymous

      But it does?

        Anonymous

I know it does, I mean why should it be a problem?

      Anonymous

None of that shit is actually true in the games that use those stats. In 3e. a rogue with max int has 50% more skills (4 extra skills), and that's the most generous edition as far as int-bonus-to-skills. People only survive bullets because they're high level. In actual fact, diplomancy gets ridiculous faster than any other form of noncombat minmaxing, a +40 to physical skills makes you a ninja ape but a +40 to charisma-based skills makes you a living god.

A Level 20 Barbarian with Base 18 STR can reach a base of 28 STR at Level 20, or 36 if he rages. That means he lifts 3,680 pounds above his head (or twice that with a Feat) with no "magic" whatsoever.
A CON of 28 (viable at Level 20) grants you at least +180 HP, when a fireball deals 20d6 at CL 20.
A WIS of 28 means a flat +9 on your Spot or Sense Motive Checks. Add +11 if that is a cross-class skill and you effectively have +20, enough to reliably discern the lies of any non-rogue and even "discern" invisible creatures.

        >+40 to charisma-based skills makes you a living god.
That's because leveraging other people is a better skill than leveraging your muscles. Being able to get 100 people working towards your goals is powerful.
