Why are Stormcast Eternals not as popular in AoS as Space Marines are in 40K?

Why are Stormcast Eternals not as popular in AoS as Space Marines are in 40K /tg/? Sylvaneth and Seraphon feel like the most popular factions currently.

Stormcast had awful proportions and don't play well most of the time. They also don't have 40 years of marketing for people warming up to them plus a cool punk rock/metal origin.

Because AoS actually gives releases and spotlight to other factions without needing to shove an additional space marine down our throats. So other factions are allowed to feel like their own thing rather than a vehicle for the next space marine release.

As an AOS enjoyer who really likes the Stormcast, I am glad that they are not as popular
Otherwise, it would be Stormcast all of the fricking time
The absurd popularity of marines to the detriment of everything else is a reason I prefer AOS to 40k

The standard color scheme is bad
If they were all iron on the box art they would be much more popular

    >Bungled launch, shit lore, shit art, shit proportions for the first few years
    >Only had a blip of time to establish themselves compared to the Marines, less if you only count the 'rebooted' versions
    >Total lack of secondary media to show them off
    >Lack an immediate way to summerise the concept (ie. "They're like Space Knights") without going into weird lore about Sigmar and Realms etc.
    >Lots of visually cluttered designs and ugly characters.

      >>Lack an immediate way to summerise the concept (ie. "They're like Space Knights") without going into weird lore about Sigmar and Realms etc.
"They're reborn heroes of the past who do battle with the forces of evil"
Pretty easy summary, famalam. And I say that as someone who thinks they're lame as frick.

I normally introduce them to people as immortal lightning templars/paladins.
      Seems to work

Is Heavy Metla einherjar not good enough for you? Because that's all they are.

While you are free to have your opinion,

The lore/cluttered designs thing is just wrong. They are heroes turned into super knights, and even the big beefy boys - are fairly plain. Its armor, with a death mask. Now you not liking that design or lore is fine, the design and lore are pretty to the point.

      >without going into weird lore about Sigmar and Realms
Only mandatory reading for SCE is Dark Souls because their whole brand of immortality is almost 1:1 of FROM's. They also happen to strongly resemble the design of a Dark Souls 2 boss that just so happened to came out close to when their development took place

        >still doesn't explain, in 5 seconds 'what' they are
Holy shit you moron, literally just say "they're metal angels who fight demons", there's your quick explanation. Why did you even reply to him if you weren't going to offer a short explanation and instead go "ummm ackshully" about fricking lore shit no one cares about and then tell us about dumb souls, another thing normalgays aren't going to care about because they're all playing Lies of P now.

Thanks for confirming Satan. That sums it up - they are just an obvious rip-off and have some baggage to carry being the heralds of Fantasy's death. They feel desperate to be popular as well, which always gives off a disingenuous stink.

Because they received the Space Marine treatment, a treatment nobody except Space Marine gays likes. Their wave 1 got more kits than the entire Death factions received (new kits no leftovers). Plus they weren't as universally loved due to several factors such as the hammer motive (not as cool as swords), the helmets on the regular grunts and the proportions.

Anybody who disagrees is a fantasy gay crying over their dead setting.

the helmets aren't as cool, space marine helmets are iconic, and beakies are fantastic if silly. in contrast, the stormcast helmets are just antique face guards stretched into a helmet with a silly trim.
and if you're "cool generic dude" who's going to be helmeted 7/10 times, them having a lame helmet means they will always look lame, especially if you know their trying to ape the success of other people with cool helmets.

    All the moronic feminism.

The handsome squidward helmets will never not be completely moronic. The newer ones with the better armor designs and proportions can look passable with a headswap like pic rel, but that doesn't help their official image and marketing.

Stormcast Eternals are one of the biggest bestsellers of Games Workshop. This thread is ridiculous and should be closed.

Is that why the 3rd edition launch box is still "selling out fast" nearly 3 years later?

Games Workshop printed a great many of those boxes. They were one of the biggest bestsellers and successes of the company. You have no idea what you are talking about.

Early AoS is still pretty rightfully hated, and Stormcast were the poster child of early AoS. Plus their proportions were really bad when they were first released.
But I dont mind them these days. They're not as obnoxious as marines and the whole 'we're an extremely obvious, walking metaphor for the dehumanization of war' is neat. It adds a little more depth to them.

Age of Sigmar has always sucked, even beyond killing fantasy, it's just a point where it feels like the models are being sculpted by people who hate fantastic stuff and want to make their tumblr deviantart OCs from 2003 into a reality (which I suspect is true since they seem to have 40yo roasties as their art design team now).

Oh and another reason AoS is shit is that they redesigned everything EXCEPT the ugly looking giants. Like they think good designs are shit, but if the design is already shit they're like "naw we love b***hbreasts beerbelly he's aight". What a joke.

And the giants being ugly actually means a lot more in AoS than they did in fantasy because in fantasy they were just add ons to other armies, auxiliaries, while in AoS they are their own faction of big ugly tards with shit designs. Not even cool like the imperial knights they're supposed to basically be the equivalent of, but fat guys who look like their parents had them on a diet of pure soibeans since they were born.

moronic take as every single thing redesigned for AOS looks like fricking garbage
From the anime looking chaos warriors to the edgy dark souls cities of sigmars
