Right from the start they said that they wanted to throttle collection collection so people had to play what they could instead of netdecking and I checked out immediately. Netdecking is not a real problem and if you want that experience you can do actual sealed.

Eternal has a great f2p system but it's not one of the big three so nobody plays it.

eternal is absolutely exhausting to play or get into
its basically magic but worse with a shitload of tutorials, legitimately its like an entire hour for the initial tutorial and then nearly 8 hours of tutorials after that to unlock the stuff so you can start playing with any semblance of unlocks, its actually so fricking awful to get into it
I used to play it and was going to get back into it and h-o-l-y shit it was fricking miserable and I just gave up

People have expectations of certain genres. If you sell someone a card game where you don't crack packs they will not buy it even if your system is more generous. As much as I hate it collectors are a big part of the card game audience and if you just give everyone all the cards there is nothing for them and now half your playerbase is gone.

Unplayable? Dunno about that. Turning all your toughness-based removal into draw is decent for a 4/4 for 4. In formats that are actually decent and not just the moronic 'over by turn 3' bullshit anyway.

she's worse than sheoldred or archfiend of the dross in standard
she's too slow for any other 60-card constructed format
thus she's only playable in casual edh, where people play whatever

There are many that are unpopular because with that sort of budget you cant run massive ad campaigns or the expensive particle effects and art. So you and others could buy one of these games and do it but it would be just you guys.

You want the art, particles, and won't know it exists without marketing pushes. Same with the other 99%

From soft made lost kingdoms ages ago which had you play as a sorceress walking around a fantasy kingdom summoning spells and monsters from a deck of cards with drawing mechanics and everything.

they r fun and it works digitally because its a simple to understand idea so people aren't confused, most DCG don't actually work like physical card games do and usually do shit that they can't

but also its WAY more fun to play a TCG with a person right fricking there in front of you and u talk shit throughout ur match and have a good time than just playing faceless opponents in ranked online

Because people in this hobby are moronic adults with no other personality trait, so they funnel their entire savings on whatever collector's bait they prefer
So it doesn't matter if to play at a 8 people tournament on a Saturday afternoon has a barrier of entry that costs $300+, those people aren't going to do anything else with that money anyway

The adults with high $ are usually the opposite of moronic. They have a high iq job like engineer that let's them afford it.

Same reason why a expensive game if golf has above average iq=above average $

Drafting, a diverse enough meta that no option is viable against the entire field, or through a variety of extremely stupid decisions like fixed decklists, every card being unique, restricting player information, etc. "Netdecking" is just the natural end state of a meta maturing and having more and less powerful options. People who play to win are going to want to talk to people who also play to win, and they'll talk about what they won with.

It's also a phrase used exclusively by scrubs who feel like they lost to the opponent's cards rather than their opponent, and are looking for an excuse.

        Anonymous

        >lost to the opponent's cards
That's how most card games operate. Most half competent decks literally play themselves and you have to be actively throwing to misplay something.
