Yep, I had high hopes for this one and refunded it in less than 20 minutes, my standing record and most repellent RPG I ever made the mistake of buying.
>Why are there no wild west rpgs?
Obviously because RPGs evolved with Fantasy first. Especially in the 70s and 80s, Westerns were a boomer normalgay thing while all the nerds flocked to fantasy and D&D.
There have been a variety of alternate settings for RPGs over the years but few gained much traction. I'd guess that post-apocalyptic sci-fi is the next most popular after standard fantasy.
The "Wild West" is a rather specific niche. Fantasy can easily draw inspiration from thousands of years of human civilization (or lackthereof). As much as homosexuals complain about generic elf+dwarf settings, there's still a lot you can do with them. Look how many Elder Scrolls sequels are each set in a different region of the world.
Best answer, but it is still a very worthy and very underserved genre.
I'd add that leftists are disinclined to do them because they feel that iconic american eras of pioneering hardship are some form of mortal sin now since all those immigrants from england and germany and poland that settled the USA were nothing but racist monsters pillaging and raping the noble natives who never ever scalped settlers or raided them in the night to preserve their buffalo trails over the thousands of miles they just roamed like bandits.
Hence the double dose of homosexualry in weird west I think.
Weird West
West of Loathing
Hard West 1 & 2
Desperados is not an RPG, but I'll still put it dowwn because it's great.
Not much in the genre, yeah. Even less if you want ti played straight.
Weird West and Wild Arms instantly come to mind
Shut the frick up about Weird West you fricking morons. The question was about RPGs not diversity squad MOBAs. You can't even create your own fricking character in Weird West. You just play a bunch of strong women, a heckin wholesome injun and a pig. So shut the frick up and stop pretending it's an RPG. homosexuals.

>Weird west
forgot this one existed since the split stories thing didn't interest me, the setting did look interesting though >Hard West
thought they were more of just tactical games than rpgs
Anyway I didn't me literally absolute zero, just virtually none, I just wanted to no why there was so little interest in the setting when it came to rpgs.
/vrpg/ needs more gatekeeping to filter out the normies. It's already bad enough that we're under attack by devs who want to casualize all genres of vidya, do you really want more newhomosexuals to come on this board and shit it up more than it already is? Are you really okay with that?
>Wild Arms
can't play this shit because of stupid search mechanic. just show me shit on the world map dipshits, don't make me mash a button every 5 steps

American history isn't interesting for most people. Them trying to romanticize this particular time period and place worked only for boomers and only for a while. Wild West is boring so nobody wants to make games in it. They prefer more interesting, European inspired settings.
You what? Entire generations of europeans have been risen on Karl May stories about wild west. Germans love to larp as indians&cowboys to this day.
Wild west is very popular in europe, dunno about rest of the world
False. Wild West and cowboys are popular everywhere when done right, especially in Europe and Asia, where people love the fantasy of escaping their cuckbox to forge a new life on the wild frontier.
Problem is it's near impossible to have a good wild west story that hits all the right culture war beats so it doesn't get cancelled
Because the wild west that people actually enjoy on it's own merits is not the double-revisionist one people are pushing today as the only politically correct one. (e.g. the one built on the spaghetti western anti heroes, fake-""realistic"" violence ala blood meridian and with a huge dash of native americans dindunuffin but they also don't matter and the real cowboys were kangz so there)
>he hasn't seen outer range
Oh no friend, politically correct is dead, now you have the woke western: >all white people are evil demons that only care about oil and land >the only halfway acceptable white is a woman hippy to bridge the gap between the peyote smoking and the patriarch who ofc actually is having to bust his ass to save the entire rest of his useless family, you know, as a man should and be demonized for it all >the heckin wholesome fat dyke sherriff and her wife are coming to save the day and kill everyone with mystic buffalo that they will trample everyone with as the whole land reverts to coombyeyah >native americans win, love wins, hateful white people lose the end >now on amazon prime and any small screen or tablet near you!
Mmmmh, I'd personally say Wild Arms, Fallout 2/New Vegas, Hard West 1/2, and Wasteland 2/3.
There might be more but the genre is lacking a lot.
The problem is more the current culture war that we have so much shit western. The only recent Western I actually love is the "Ballad of Buster Scrugs and other short stories".
We dont have hopeful chance to get more decent westerns these days, even less a good RPG western.
You could just play Fallout: New Vegas until you get sick of the quasi-Wild West themes.
Btw have the best song in FNV, imo: https://youtu.be/iGmUsJvRv7U
one of the chapters in Live a Live is wild west themed.
of course there are also 7 other chapters in the game that don't have that theme...
>weird west
He said Wild West anon not Weird West, nevermind all the cringe feminist and minority pandering in that game. Also it sucks.
Yep, I had high hopes for this one and refunded it in less than 20 minutes, my standing record and most repellent RPG I ever made the mistake of buying.

Man there's 6 Wild Arms games and a remake of the first one
What the hell are you smoking
there's also West of Loathing if you want a more comical game
>Wild arms
can't believe I never heard of this
>Weird west

>can't believe I never heard of this
tell me you're a zoomer, without telling me you're a zoomer.
so long as he's not acting like a humongous moron homosexual like most of /vrpg/ what's the problem?
/vrpg/ needs more gatekeeping to filter out the normies. It's already bad enough that we're under attack by devs who want to casualize all genres of vidya, do you really want more newhomosexuals to come on this board and shit it up more than it already is? Are you really okay with that?
> normies
Go back normalgay
You're part of the problem, dipshit. you're not gatekeeping anything you're just ruining halfway decent conversation (rare on this board)
>Wild Arms
can't play this shit because of stupid search mechanic. just show me shit on the world map dipshits, don't make me mash a button every 5 steps
Wild Arms

How would you implement dueling mechanics in a rpg?

Which thread are you trying to bump off the board homosexual

lol eurotards loved cowboy shit, it's probably the first cultural export of america.
