        Anonymous

That's not a great answer because like you said, there would be zero reason to worship him. Every religion on the planet would be wrong in assuming he's a good guy or that we understand what he wants. For all we know by that logic God hates being worshiped, or is a schizo whose wants aren't consistent or constantly change. He'd be so alien to us that we would have no way of meaningfully connecting to him so there would be zero point in even trying to appease him because we don't understand him

Except a majority of modern religion PRAISE their god as being right, having a plan in mind, being blessed if something good happens to them, holding faith if something bad happens to them. They're weak fricking people.
Desperate and pathetic men created religion because they had nothing else to grasp their frail fingers with. Then they turned to others wrought in despair and confused their change of life being attributed to their made up belief. I'll summarize it like this.
You'll see some idiot larping about how he used to be a slob, unhappy and whatever before he took to religion and started practicing fasting, exercising, and being outgoing. That motherfricker didn't change because of his belief in god, he just did shit others do. This is how they delude themselves. They celebrate basic actions in the name of faith when they're too over their head to actually acknowledge they can change themselves for the better.

The concept of a singular benevolent god banks on the notion that this world is simply a place for trials and tribulations; your life on Earth is temporary and ripe grounds for testing whether you are good or evil. Once you die, you will be judged: if you are deemed good, you spend the rest of eternity in paradise; if not, you suffer for the rest of eternity in a fiery abyss.

This is not a 200 IQ concept, you should've realized it before clicking Post.

        Anonymous

you would have a point if that was his intention when he made it, in reality it's the first draft of paradise that went to shit so he decided to make an actual paradise later and use this world as the trail

            >spill milk in order to have something to clean
            literal insanity

cleaning after oneself is just a consequence of a side effect, why would the literal can-do-anything being make any side effects, especially "sin" which it hates so bad?

              Anonymous

If you can't spill milk or sin, then you do not have free will. Humans were created with free will. I'm sorry you don't like it. Maybe try to be a better person.
              >Omniscience precludes free will!
No. Intelligence allows one to predict the future, like knowing how someone will react to bad news or which direction the mouse behind their couch will run when they stomp their foot. That doesn't mean the individuals are acting without free will. Geneticists in the future will be able to predict exactly what kind of person you'll be as an adult from the moment you're born and, one day, you might ejaculate in a cup and they may be able to pinpoint even which sperm will reach the egg. This doesn't stop free will from existing, they've merely acquired the intelligence to see further into the future. God knew you would be born and choose the route through life which you did, because he is omniscient, but he allowed you to do this, because to stop you would be to remove your free will - to force you to be good. That is not to his liking. If you can't be persuaded to choose good, then you don't deserve paradise. That's all.

If you think that's insane, that's fine, but you know less than God so your opinion doesn't matter.
I'm an atheist playing devil's advocated by the way. Religion is an evolutionary adaptation. Trying to stop people from being religious because it "doesn't make sense" is moronic. People will simply start ignoring 1000-year old wisdom for 20-year old wisdom instead, which is what Marxists and other egalitarians do. And their wisdom is worse.

They do that already. They're called "greentext stories" and almost always come accompanied with a picture of pepe the frog and circulate all over social media like twitter and reddit. Greentext stories are normalgay shit and have been for almost 10 years or more now.

yeah its pretty funny seeing their posts on these other websites

Low quality greentext shit that goes on for way too long and also has zero (You)s
Somehow there is a dedicated audience of normalgays who read this "Ganker content" that is 100% staged

Normalgays generally like Ganker content because we're allowed to be more humorous here. They're just afraid of all the naughty words we throw around like "Black person", "gay", and "troony". Those are great words to gatekeep the site from them.

all baldur's gate games are literally about killing gods/avatars of gods
you also fight mehrunes dagon in oblivion

I'm pretty sure you kill as much gods in wrpgs as jprgs

      >BG1
Final boss is Sarevok who is trying to please Bhaal. Sarevok is a Bhaalspawn, meaning he is a descendant of Bhaal but isn't really an avatar anymore than you are, he doesn't even have any Bhaalspawn powers and can't assume the Slayer form
      >BG2
Before DLC final boss is Irenicus, who is a wizard, not God
Expansion the final boss is Melissan who basically does become a God, yes
      >BG3
Final boss is the Absolute, which I guess technically gets worshiped as a god by a cult but is actually a Netherbrain

        Anonymous

        >BG1
to cite Sarevok: "face me, face the new lord of murder" he wants to kill you so he can become the next god
        >BG2
Irenicus goal is literally to steal your divine essence so he can ascend to godhood
        >BG3
yeah, not really a god, but worshipped like one + the crown is a device that makes it a god

overall pretty much the same as most JRPG, you kill the last boss when he is at the cusp of becoming an unkillable god

          >BG1 and 2
Those are their GOALS, they don't actually become God and you don't actually fight God, you thwart them before they can succeed. The only villain that fits is in Throne of Bhaal

Let me state the reasons why jarpigs are bad:
    >Jarpigs are bad because you almost always play with predetermined characters with predetermined stats and backgrounds, this negatively affects the "role-playing" aspect of said "games".
    >Most of them remove almost all player agency, resulting in less immersion.
    >Jarpiggers don't like branching stories where you can choose which actions you should take or not, which opinions you should disagree with or not etc.
    >Jarpigs are incredibly linear and straightforward, which means that these games have far less replayability value than an average RPG with multiple ways of solving problems and endings.
    >Jarpigs are incredibly simple, so simple that even a toddler can pick it up and complete them. I mean, this shouldn't be a surprise as DQ is just an oversimplified version of Wizardry and Ultima.
    >Jarpigs are incredibly formulaic, the vast majority of them have very samey themes, character archetypes, enemies and plot. They even have samey animu styles too.

All in all, I see no value in J"RPG" "games" where "role-playing" is next to non-existent.

that's because to the Japanese they see roleplaying as "you take the role of a preset character given to you and follow the script"

Kami die all the time in Shintoism, the conception of what it means to be a god is much smaller scale than the abrahamics. As a result, even when JRPGs have abrahamic-tier gods in them they are still considered to be partially mortal.

that's because Shinto gods are actually just powerful spirits.

None of them actually even deal with the capital G God anyway, its always power hungry psychopaths that think they are god. Or ancient aliens/constructs.
Or in the rare case its actually a divinity, its a setting where there are hundreds of such and they're basically on the same power level of men anyway at their weakest.

The west can't tell a pretender from the real god. Really makes you think.

  37. 5 months ago

    This is literally Naruto.

But the answer is because everyone loves the local adventurer stuff, so you start off with simple things that make the character feel relatable. RPGs are all about progression, so your challenges become tougher and tougher. The ultimate challenge is attaining godhood, so you must either defeat someone else trying to achieve it or someone who already has. After that, the game has to end, as the character has reached the pinnacle of their growth and overcome the symbolically greatest challenge, transforming themselves from someone who can only solve small, individual problems to someone who's a master of their own destiny. They can go back to being a farmer or whatever if they want.

You don't like it only because it's been done to death, but you're also an adult and most of these games are made for kids.

People without a healthy means of finding joy in life instead find it by locating socially acceptable targets and then attacking them.

It's basically a grown-up version of that kid who used to kick over other people's sand castles. They learned that their parents beat them if they act out like that so they learned to couch their urge to destruction in sophistry instead.

No. There are high IQ denominations, but that's just because people change denominations based on IQ. On the whole, IQ is correlated with the number of deities people believe in. The dumbest people in the world believe in magic and spirits and animism, next polytheism, then monotheism, then atheism. Although there's a better correlate with IQ: skin color :^)

it just makes the status of god meaningless when some teen can kill them. what even is a god at that point? it’s no different from a person who trains really hard. in actual myth the gods were bizarre dream logic beings that a mortal was mostly completely powerless against, you either won their favour or sided with a god that didn’t like the god that was troubling you. if you don’t have that clear sense of division the magical realm becomes boring and equivalent to a number increasing on a stat. this is why JRPGs never get me massively invested in the actual setting, they’re all fairly disposable because they all feel like a shallow puddle which rotates around the MC. if you fellate my player character to the point they defeat gods it doesn’t make me feel powerful, it makes the world feel empty and without a proper sense of depth or weight.
