Don't think of doubt as 'you have reason to doubt'. Think of doubt as 'I know you're lying fricker I just don't have any proof'. That's why Cole is always rude or threatening when you press doubt. Originally it was called 'Force'.
Always press Lie every single time and see what further dialogue occurs, just to see if they say something you can easily disprove with evidence. There's no penalty for saying lie, seeing what they say, and then backing out.

I uninstalled the split second I got to the second mission and had to do a pipe puzzle at the back of the house. The literal moment Cole or whatever his name was kneeled down and inspected the pipe and I saw it was a pipe puzzle, I alt-f4'd and uninstalled the game. Absolute amateur work
It would have been felt less like a weird super easy video game puzzle and more like Cole just checking to see if a piece is missing if he stopped early as soon as it was apparant there's a missing piece.
