You guys seem to forget that there is something called "design by committee". The idea that when many people have a say on a design, it tends to homogenize into the safest, most compromising design.
This phenomenon affects all aspects of design in all fields, including characters design. And you're not immune to it, just because you "consulted" someone. All you're doing is mixing the consultant's perspective into the homogenized outcome.
