Every JRPG has sequences like that but 10x longer and 100x the frequency though

JRPGs are basically the original 'movie games.' The Nibelheim flashback sequence in FFVII for example is essentially 40 minutes of just walking and talking to NPCs.

This is why gamers will never be taken seriously. You all just want MUH GAMEPLAY instead of experiencing an actual good story

The best written games also have gameplay behind them, i.e. deus ex, soul reaver, VTMB. Only hacks hide behind your excuse.

Metal Gear was one of the first things for a Movie like experience, even though you had to play the game and have fun. Then Last of Us added more to this, but actively making it easier for the player to play and people thought it was revolutionary. So this has caused a massive wave of everybody wanting to make a really hands free experience that is more "cinematic" due to how well The Last of Us did with bringing in newbies to console gaming outside of multiplayer games.

    >Why are video games movies now?
Older players struggle with learning new things and adapting, and their motor skills deteriorate, so interactive entertainment becomes difficult. In order to appeal to as many players as possible, AAAA games must cut back on the interactive elements in games.
