HOME is free and so is the GTS. It does not require NSO and you do not need to buy premium.
You still need premium to transfer mons TO home though
That's only from Bank to HOME from my understanding, you can use Pokemon you caught on the Switch on the GTS to trade with other users in HOME

I would definitely prefer every pokemon in the game but if they keep removing all the ugly xy models than I'm not against dexcut too much.

SV did what they said SWSH would do regarding all new models, textures, actually modeling faces instead of using eye stickers, etc. SWSH on that front was a disappointment

Every single Switch game so far has new models.
I know BDSP certainly did not. U Les duly mean the Chibi models instead of the actual fricking Pokemon.
SV certainly had significant model improvements and texture improvements, and PLA did as well to an extent, but SWSH, BDSP and LGPE did not
