Because their brains are so fricking friend by algorithms that they need background noise, even if it gives them nothing, to enjoy anything.
Also
>young
The oldgays here do it too.
I'm a bit of an oldgay and I put music on as background noise whenever I draw shit. Get fricked
you sure showed him with your single case
You sure showed him with all that malding and b***hing
This.
>haha I said get fricked you are now owned
Suck a shit log out of my butthole.
me too
Get fricked twice
also me, get fricked to oblivion, zoomer trash
>their brains are so fricking friend by algorithms
the frick is that even supposed to mean
when I fried my brain, I sought piece and quiet, not the fricking opposite
He probably meant that kids need constant stimuli for retention nowadays. Saw a TikTok video that was a family guy clip but had some temple run game on the side and a video of someone scooping ice cream above the family guy vid, it's mental.
Yeah I saw that too, and I know for a fact that those videos exist to circumvent copyright mechanisms. The only other people who watch that are low IQ parents who want to watch adult cartoons with their kids and they honestly believe the second video is a distraction for their kids.
humans like hearing something going on, before computers it was tv, radio, phonograms
phonographs*
>background noise
So you're too much of a brainlet and with AHDH so high you can't sit for 2 hours and watch something enjoyable?
Cope zoomer
they arent
What the frick is a 'video essay'? Just any video where somebody talks about something?
Isn't that like 90% of all content ever released on youtube?
a video discussing a topic that isn't just a review or walkthrough
That would include documentaries
it's a forum post, but for some reason zoomers record themselves reading them out loud and put it on yt
Anon, forums don't (practically) exist anymore.
The only real exception in massive numbers would be like... forums for specific games, or Ganker. Yes, I know those are a lot of exceptions, but forums for specific games don't allow other games, and Ganker likes to go "not your blog" in the most cases when people pour their heart out over something they love, so neither are constructive for what the video essay has become.
Almost all of them just retell the game they're talking about scene for scene and speckle in the most basic commentary about it in between. Bonus points for reading off a rewrite of the wikipedia article or game joruno articles for the game or its developers. Imagine reading game magazines for 2 hours but stretch it out to 12 hours with video basically.
I don't mind long game reviews if they're less than 2 hours, but I hate that shit if it's about a single movie. Just watch the movie at that point.
I honestly love that shit especially if it's about a movie. I refuse to support the zog by even looking at their dogshit propaganda, but I enjoy people ripping into it like no tomorrow.
Zoomers are incapable of independent thought
Some interesting ones about old PS1 jap shit i will never play can be entertaining.
Everybody nowadays seems to think the longer you talk the smarter you are and I have no idea why
Honestly most of them suck. They're poorly edited (both in terms of script and video) ramble about shit for too long and are often just the guy describing the game without offering any interesting insight
>often just the guy describing the game without offering any interesting insight
This drives me up a fricking wall. I know it gets memed on but egoraptor’s sequilitis thing was the only analysis I’ve seen that doesn’t spend 80% of the video runtime recapping the game beat by beat
Then stop watching them. Fricking homosexual moron.
Stop reading my posts if you think I’m a homosexual moron, moron homosexual
it's just the modern day equivalent of having a TV on in the background
only morons did that too but it's not like it's unique to the age-based horoscope group you hate the msot
Because young gamers don't know anything about games from 15 years or older and watching a video can instantly make them an "expert" on reddit, twitter and discord
background noise
nobody actually pays attention to these things
you can act like your an old pro at a video game and collect gamer cred even though you've never played it because you dont play video games. Just look at fallout 3, everyone talking about it has never played it, they just watched a couple 5 hour long youtube videos.
It legitimately bothers me that so many ill informed morons out there lecture others as if their incorrect moronation or moronic opinions are objective fact, and then these other homosexuals absorb that shit and parrot it out as the gospel truth. Form your own fricking opinions.
The only, singular person I've found that does this correctly is Decino, and that's because he backs up absolutely everything he demonstrates with documented proof.
I always wanted to have a friend to listen to my favorite obsessions for hours, video essays is like finally having that friend even if I'm the one listening
I don't know, I just want something to make work go by. I'll be like "I'm interested in resident evil 7 at the moment" and watch anything that looks interesting, but now I'm getting algorithmed into this type of shit.
So are zoomers low attention span spazs, or do they enjoy multi-hour videos about a single topic? You can't be both of these things.
When I really like a game, and I've played it many times and I'm invested in the lore and learning all the secrets and theories, I love watching lengthy videos discussing the game and of course longplays. Keeps me immersed. I watch while eating dinner.
>I love something so I like watching subhumans wipe their ass with it for money
Please post some, I feel like I've ran out of youtube videos to watch
More entertaining than the slog of mobile-inspired nuGames
because its something interesting to do with the skillset they've been taught in high school and college
I watched all of this at work lel
Is it worth watching even as a background noise?
It's a bit drawn out and meandering but OK
Because they're stupid and they're too scared to form their own opinions.
i'm not young
i'm 28
That's pretty young, I'm closing in on 40.
>Mfw 29
>Want to have children
>Financially fricked
>By the time I'm stable women around my age have a high chance of having potato kids
>It's taboo to date someone 5 years younger than you at this point
I fricking hate this world.
>Taboo
Don't do online dating and move somewhere that isn't a lib shit hole. My bro just married a girl 9 years his junior and no one gives a shit
Most of the people I dated were from Tinder and OkCupid back when I was in Cali and Texas, but considering where I live now it's dead as frick and the majority of people here are rednecks.
Women in their 30s have a 40% chance of birthing potatoes anon, that seems dangerously close.
Get you a redneck b***h
I am not cleaning up after that, frick that.
I have a roommate who keeps buying food and leaving it in the fridge for months. We just threw out two to-go boxes that were 2 months old and 3 whole rotisserie chickens that were a month old. He buys raw chicken and throws it in the fridge, not the freezer, and just leaves it there.
I think there's a filipino community around here though.
>>It's taboo to date someone 5 years younger than you at this point
Literally no one cares.
My plan is to find a 25-27 yo once I'm in my mid 30s
lmao when I was in Romania for vacation, I found out how common it was for 20yo girls to be in relationships with 40+yo men
My personal pet peeve is when something is labelled as a review and they just tell you the plot for 9 out of 10 minutes. That's an overview, not a review. Give me some insight or a reaction at least. If I wanted a synopsis I would have searched for one.
When Omori came out it was fricking horrible for this, all the big 'theory' YouTubers skipped it and it didn't hit the same audience that makes super in-depth analysis, so all you had left were ESL's and 12 yo's restating the plot dramatically
I legitimately believe I have more in-depth thoughts about the game than any essay on youtube because all I did was replay it and make some basic connections
>these people watch short-form videos!
>grrrr today's youth has no ATTENTION SPAN anymore!
>these people watch long-form videos!
>grrr today's youth is MENTALLY DEGENERATE AND NEEDS BACKGROUND NOISE!
What's an accepted video length? 9:59 like in the good old days?
Signed, 33 year old fossil who watches whatever he fricking wants
10 minutes is a pretty good time. Unless you're showing off the ENTIRE GAME, you really shouldn't need more.
ABSOLUTELY FRICKING NONE Black person FILTH
Stop talking about yourself homosexual.
Again, it's like radio with bonus images compared to a podcast, i don't think anyone is supposed to sit like this and watch the video and your eventual boredom is your fault for doing so.

I just like seeing the mechanics of games I've played broken down into the little tiny details.
>Video essay
>Mario 64
>useless small details are interesting
Autistic?
Probably.
Don't forget to enable double play speed on the videos. That way your 3 hour video only becomes one and a half, giving you more time to watch other videos.
>Why are young gamers so attracted to long vidya essays?
Only way they can get lectures from a man.
>from a man
Debatable.
Any gamer who is not a zoomer would have been glued to the TV if these "video essays" had been around during the cable/satellite/pre-YouTube era.
Every single person who grew up with high-speed internet access needs to be forced to live without internet for a year so they can be grateful for what they have.
My background noise is Cum Town
You guys are right I should just sit in total silence during my drives and at work, that would be so keyed or whatever the frick
Frick you Black folk im going to listen to a 21 hour berserk video now
For me, it's Budget Museum:
I really like how in-depth he gets with phylogeny in videos covering long time spans.
i watch long video essays while getting high and playing star wars: the old republic
and i have a good time
>tfw I have to listen to those videos during work because I have no time/energy to actually play them after work
It shouldn't be that way, but it can't be helped.
21 hour Berserk analysis, lasts me for a week or two whenever I need something.
idk I like NeverKnowsBest, Joseph Anderson, Noah Caldwell Gervais, and Matthewmatosis
I just watch them in bed, good way to fall asleep.
It is basically just a podcast with some pictures.
something about short videos makes me brain rot, I went through 5 minutes of youtube shorts and I couldn't tell you what I watched
Fricking this it has to be some hypnotoad bullshit with how worthless it all is but how hard it is to stop once you start scrolling
Short videos mean picking something new to watch every five minutes. Three hour essays mean background noise for hours.
I need to pretend to work for nine hours a day, I can't pick a new video every few minutes.
>not watching a 3 hour long vidya essay while also keeping a non-stop stream of tik tok compilations on your second monitor
Bro, do you even zoomzoom?
I thank god about once a week that I don't.
Youtube literally buries your video if it is short.
Nobody ACTUALLY likes these boring fricking 4 hour videos but youtube conditions people into habitually watching them because it's better for ads.
As seen by the fact any video that gets organic traffic outside of youtube the shit people actually want to watch is short, and why youtube is desperately trying to transition into a tiktok clone.
>Youtube literally buries your video if it is short.
It's the complete opposite moron
they bumped the algorithm for shorts and because of that everyone is doing them, including making channels exclusive with cuts from podcasts
At least it's better than short videos. Flipping from short clip to short clip for hours is destroying children's attention spans (tiktok, youtube shorts, etc)
Consider it a blessing that they can still focus on any single thing for a few hours
>He thinks people are paying attention to 5 hour analysis videos
lmao
>I can't do it therefore nobody can
Yes just because you can't imagine people not actually paying attention to a boring ass 5 hour bloated wiki summary doesn't mean nobody can
friend surrogates
I tried/am trying to make one but I hate the sound of my voice, playing the game is easy enough, writing the script is also not very hard but I hate my voice so much
>so attracted
Why do you think young people are watching video essays?
let’s them pretend they have an informed opinion about something they have no experience with
because they have better production values, effort put into them, and content in general. some of them fully dangerously close to being commentary videos, which is fine. nevar forget this is the same fricking board that defends 8 hour long lets plays broken into 50 different parts on youtube, commentators like MisterMetokur, and those shit angry reviewer videos that have zero talent or wit about them.

I like watching ones about games I had never heard of before seeing the video. A lot of those games end up only being enjoyable in the context of watching some other dude suffer through them anyways, you can get fricked if you think I want to play through half of the shit people like Ross play for their channels.
90% of the hour long video essay shits could be 20 minutes if there was any editing, and the author spoke like an actual human being

I wonder how many morons here are 27 and think they aren't zoomers.
I'm 25 anon, been here since 2016 I'm practically a boomer
Factually you are not even a millennial however.
spiritually I am 40yrs old
My main problem with video essays is that they are just terrible at making points so they just vomit words until they reach like 2 or 3 hours. You don't need that much time to explain why BingBingWahoo 4 is a good or bad
