The movie plot and character development is heavily dependent on the context that the result of their action leads to the events of the the original trilogy. Without that context, then the movie would fail.

My dad actually developed camera lenses as a young dude and worked with Lucas. I know for a fact he didn't bother to watch the Disney films. It sucks to know that veterans don't even care about what our generation does. Previous generations were not like this, they encouraged younger creators and engineers. But nowadays nobody gives a shit about anyone.
It is hard to believe that a subsidiary company of some 70/80s sci fi movie created some of the best games in their respective genre.
