Because it's extremely boring except for a playthrough of 1 level. And that's all you get. Todd Howard the son of the father of all gay shooters wants you to accept his sōy gay roleplaying games.
But I am.
I am Sparks-in-Shadows, level 8 Argonian warrior. Adventurer, wander, enigma, honored knight of the Order of the Dragon, Vampire's Bane, the clash of my steel illuminates the horrors the depths, signaling that the end is nigh. Glory and wealth are mere trinkets in my quest to rid the world of the thieves and abominations that lurk in the dark. To purge sin with holy steel is its own reward. I haven't played in like a month but this is my first playthrough and Daggerfall is by far my favorite TES game now, although multiplayer Morrowind is really fun
I sold them somewhere along the line and forgot to buy more. I think I wanted a different color, I don't quite remember.
I mean it's, uh, an ancient Argonian ventilation tactic
is that a wiener or a sideways pussy
It's JUSTICE
i got filtered by the starting dungeon
You may get a lot of mileage from the shorter dungeons option if you ever retry it
Crazy how people who understand what roleplaying is love daggerfall while the skyrimzoomers complain that it isn't just a series of shitty storylines (badly)written for them to follow along with
I have a pretty heavy tabletop background which helps me lean into the roleplay of Daggerfall's sandbox pretty easily. One of my favorite moments so far has been discovering that banking is regional, so when I sailed to Sentinel and tried to withdraw some funds they didn't have access to that banking network. Like "oh, of course, that makes sense." Then Sparks had to make due without cash since he had already picked up contracts to slay creatures in Sentinel and his vows prevented him from abandoning those in need. It's a great game if you can appreciate those small moments
I recommend using the travel options mod along with basic roads and distant landscapes if you aren't already. It creates that feeling of going on a real journey across vast landscapes better than any game out there. Climates and calories too for full immersion
That's what the travel options mod is for. It lets you speed up time as you're travelling instead of instantly teleporting with fast travel

Unless it shrinks the game world, you wouldn’t be able to find any dungeons along the way from point a to point b, and might even miss entire cities. The game world is a whole lot of nothing with a bad draw distance.

I'm not sure what you mean. You have a map and can automatically follow roads if you want so you won't "miss" cities. Most dungeons are hidden until you either get a quest to go there or get a map pointing you there as random loot. It's not about exploring the landscape to find things, it's about the journey. Of course you will pass through many settlements along the way where you can get all kinds of quests to seek out the dungeons if you want
I've only played vanilla but I've been curious to see how modded you can make daggerfall on unity and whether there is actually any good 3d models for npcs
they're all on the nexus just google the names
youtubeBlack person also compiled a big spreadsheet of them

It's very fun to start and go on a couple of quests. But unfortunately quests are RNG galore and your first could be so hard you cannot finish it. How many times as a level 2 or 3 I got against vampires or giant spiders.
You need to know what you're up against, or at least have an idea of what awaits but this game doesn't grant that. The fact they are timed also can frick you up since you are unable to recuperate enough to kill the boss or return the quest in time.
Otherwise it's fun and is a true RPG.
The GOG version has a lot of good mods already installed, sure it's missing a few and it's like 2 versions behind, but it's all in one package. Having played the original a ton back in the day I'll probably just download that version
Why would I want to play a thousand year old game, with mechanics, graphics, and sound design that has been completely and utterly surpassed by literally hundreds of games that have been made since?
Graphics and sound maybe but certainly not mechanics. This is the only game I can think of that actually somewhat punishes you for using charisma as a dump stat, since you need to actually interact with people on the street sometimes that will call you a Black person if they don't like the look of you. Barebones nonetheless but still light years ahead of fully scripted Fallout 4 type protagonists that show no signs of going away.
I did a couple years back and enjoyed it immensely. Think I'll reinstall it with some new mods at some point, no other game really scratches that roleplaying dungeon spelunking itch in the same way.
Because I’m playing Morrowind right now
This. Why settle for Daggerfall when you could be playing Morrowind.
Daggerfall is a better rpg. Also your character's neck is missing
Because it's extremely boring except for a playthrough of 1 level. And that's all you get. Todd Howard the son of the father of all gay shooters wants you to accept his sōy gay roleplaying games.
Todd's only contribution to daggerfall was a few sound effects
I only hammer the guy in the spotlight, chief. Todd's the CEO.
And the father is Gabe Newel.
Because every Elder Scrolls game plays like dogshit and no amount of "good writing" or "sovl" will change the fact they're bad games.
Daggerfall is one of the truest role-playing games ever made
Soulless post

You answered your own question
GOG
It's buggy as frick and kept crashing on me
because I've played through the main story once and all the procedurally generated quests and dungeons are boring
But I am.

I've been playing mostly vanilla but I'll check it out. Thanks anon
Isnt the essentially too big to actually explore like that?
That's what the travel options mod is for. It lets you speed up time as you're travelling instead of instantly teleporting with fast travel

Got links to those mods?

thanks
All that and yet it has no affect on the game at all. Your argonian whatever the frick is no different then a khajit knight that eats his own shit.
You shouldn't ooze insecurity like this when trying to be a badass Gankerner
I wish the dungeon generation wasn't shit
It filtered me
There, I said it
humblest morrowincel
Two honest anons in one minute. Way to go, pals.
he filtered millions
i got filtered by the starting dungeon
I don't enjoy the gameplay
Simple as
Because only morons play elder scrolls and I'm not a moron.
Because its soulless, God intended man to play daggerfall on windows 98
because the quests are brain dead boring and the auto generated dungeons SUCK
I can't stand the way the game looks. Is there an option to make it look software rendered?
I just didn't have very much fun when I tried it. I've only played the original version in Dosbox, not Unity.
Because it's boring as shit once you've dumped more then 10 hours into it.
I hate Unity

Where do you get this? I see it on GOG. Can you get it on Steam or somewhere else?
https://www.dfworkshop.net/using-steam-release-of-daggerfall-with-daggerfall-unity-updated/
Don't get the GOG version
https://en.uesp.net/wiki/Daggerfall:Files
for the game files, then
https://github.com/Interkarma/daggerfall-unity/releases
for unity
The GOG version has a lot of good mods already installed, sure it's missing a few and it's like 2 versions behind, but it's all in one package. Having played the original a ton back in the day I'll probably just download that version
Daggerfall seems like a fantastic game to play on drugs
where the frick did you get that guys art

I played it when it was first finished, got bored after a while. I think I was around lvl 25 and became a werewolf before uninstalling.
I don't play bad games so Elder Scrolls is strictly off limits, sorry
Because I've played it once and it has zero replay value. At least it was fun enough to finish unlike morrowind.
I did a couple years back and enjoyed it immensely. Think I'll reinstall it with some new mods at some point, no other game really scratches that roleplaying dungeon spelunking itch in the same way.
Looks like shit, why wouldn't you just play the original instead?
