tank/healer/dps is pretty much inevitable if a game has any organized system of aggro, if the developers crank up the difficulty. Getting rid of aggro is pretty much the only way to solve it.
I think it'd be interesting to see a game where aggro exists, is based on how much damage you've dealt so far, and there are no tanks or healers so the only way to survive the encounter is for DPS to coordinate their damage while trading off aggro as needed.

Because I am honestly demoralized at how many times I've attempted to do Golbez EX, despite doing every mechanic right.
If it isn't one of the DPS fricking up with meteors or going where they need to, it's the healers fricking up on something else.
I just wanted Golbez' greatsword to show off that I could do this sort of content. Instead I'm dealing with my own self-inflicted suffering.
At this point, I don't even want to try clearing the new savages either.

Play scholar. It carries the shit out of that fight. You get so much mileage out of critlo deploys and expedient that it feels like the fight was made for the job. Everything in the fight lines up perfectly with your tools too.

Don’t drop a group if it’s making progress. All of my clears get a few hiccups when people are figuring out the specifics markings they are using, and I swear people drop after the first wipe to gale 2 despite the group then managing to clear it in 2-3 pulls later. Every time you switch groups you are going back to step 1.
Sometimes you group just disbands. Thats PF for you.

Golbez EX is easy though. It is just a matter of being in the right group at the right time. Hell I got my clear on 2nd day just because I passed the 1st one chilling with story.
For me the formula to get me to play an MMO is a lot more complex than a regular game. It needs to have all of the following:
-Gameplay I enjoy and don't find boring.
-I need to be able to play through it alone, but also be able to interact with others and join up if I choose so I can invite friends to play with me or join guilds or whatever.
-It needs to be an attractive, beautiful world I WANT to escape to. It isn't a fantasy if this isn't the case. And I bring this up every time you make this thread, but this game is lacking a key element for me.

They respawn. If they're just some random nobodies hanging around, then they'll probably not bother you anymore, which was the case in previous fights. Movement is all handled client-side, and attempting to throw a skill or spell is too, though it only RESOLVES the skills/spells server side. It sounds like your machine is the problem for movement, and there should be no difference in that.

We'll have to see what 6.5 does. 6.x is not like 5.x where 5.1 to 5.3 just built up on 5.0 and then closed that story with some really, really strong moments and then meandered into pre-EW stuff with the towers and Fandaniel and shit for 5.4 and 5.5 (which people probably would've considered boring in isolation if 5.3 wasn't such a high)

Trying to make good on that Memoria crystal thing falling into the pit, trying to make good on the whole "Golbez isn't a bad guy/will probably heelturn" without making it feel too last moment, etc. Etc.
People may be jaded and I can't blame them for that, but from their typical pacing style, it makes perfect sense to be willing to believe that 6.5 will be EW's 5.3 in terms of how large it should prove to be. 5.3 was a climax to 5.0, 6.5 should be a climax to 6.x.

Since 6.0 tied up everything going on, they had to set up a new little adventure. It's going longer because they just didin't have any loose ends to grasp onto like past expansions. The msq being boring is just bad writing, not really them stretching it.
Everything takes too long. Even just daily roulettes are 2-3 hours. When I sit down to play FFXIV my anxiety about having to go to work the next day sets in. Unless another quarantine takes place, I just can't do it.
Doesn't matter if you have the cheevo, if no one can watch your prog and verify at least visually that everything was above board then the legitimacy of the clear can't be verified. All other competitive gaming things like this require video evidence and strict adherence to the rules in order to qualify and have their records verified and counted, so why should this be different?
I'm not saying it shouldn't. I'm just saying that a clear is a clear and that the Lodestone won't differentiate between supposed cheat havers and streamers. The only way out is forcing world first racers to attend physically to SE events in order to get a reward
SE can remove it, like they did with the jp group that cleared the last ultimate first.
SE removed it because they admitted of cheating/having cheaters in their team. NA didn't have any achievement, items purged because they were smart enough to shut the frick up

It actually was, all the good players got what they needed already and now only people left are casuals.
Just like with savage, if you are late to the train you will be hard stuck on some floor and you won't be able to do anything.
Because the only content I have even passing interest in anymore is the MSQ (just for the story), Exploration content (MIA in EW) and BLU.
The current job design has just sucked the fun out of almost every job for me and there is literally no midcore content in the game, it's either piss baby easy "content" like IS where you are falling asleep at your PC when you "play" it or you've got a choice between turning the game into a job simulator, herding 7 morons around for 10+ hours just for the static to implode afterwards or playing PF roulette with a 10%-50%success rate depending on how current the content is and which server you play on.
I used to be against Trusts since I felt that it undermined the game as an MMO, now I just wish that I could complete everything in the game solo with Trusts or have the ability to drag atleast half of my team of morons kicking and screaming over the finish line with atleast one of the jobs. It a frickload easier to find one other person who doesn't have rocks for brains than it is finding 7
Not as long as we still have to meet enrage timers, I already carried shitters in normal dungeons (sometimes) with WAR but that doesn't feel as satisfying anymore thanks to the very limited amount of content, normal raids can be cleared with a single healer and a tank still standing but that has also lost it's funfactor for me
I finally got my crafters all leveled and geared/melded just in time for this patch. It's hard to believe I was ever worried about all this shit being a net loss because I made back pretty much everything I ever invested into it in one day. Holy frick I would have done this back in stormblood if I knew it was so easy to just fricking print gil with some spare tomes.
Making money with crafters is pretty shit nowadays compared to stormblood or early shb days.
It used to be easy to make at least 50mil every crafting patch with minimal effort.

Him and sadu are way past the "just frick already" line and stringing it out this much is just boring. I hate how the writers seem to be either forbidden or deathly afraid of actually pairing characters off but haven't toned down their fondness of obvious romantic tension to match. It makes a lot of characters a lot less interesting than they could be otherwise if they leaned into it a bit more.
I also just love a tasteful dash of cheesy romantic shit if it's done right

The solution always has been and always will be to make any npc pairings obvious from the first moment they're introduced and make it actual attraction from both sides instead of just hopeless crushes like Wedge or half mockery half tension situations like Magnai and Sadu. Aenor is a clear example, from the first fricking moment she was already like "Holy fricking shit I NEED roe dick in me", so nobody ever got mad or felt cucked by that.

dps checks are usually only problem on last floor week 1, even then having double rez is good for prog in savage as unlike ultimate you usually don't need to execute mechanics perfectly to survive.
The story is over and what I've played of the post-6.0 doesn't interest me. Zero has zero charisma. Golbez is a extremely stereotypical boring villain.
I spent about an hour in character creator and have spent the remaining 10,000 hours ingame. Why would I ever go back to reference a number that in no way influences my gameplay? I don't spend all day staring at characters' faces.
I almost want to say yes, but I don't need those sets because I don't do raiding or trials or ultimates. Last time I cleared an EX was Hydaelyn and Zodiark and I still have ptsd flashbacks from just how dogshit subhuman the playerbase is, how the same mechanc telegraphed again and again is failed.

tank/healer/dps is pretty much inevitable if a game has any organized system of aggro, if the developers crank up the difficulty. Getting rid of aggro is pretty much the only way to solve it.
I think it'd be interesting to see a game where aggro exists, is based on how much damage you've dealt so far, and there are no tanks or healers so the only way to survive the encounter is for DPS to coordinate their damage while trading off aggro as needed.

If it isn't one of the DPS fricking up with meteors or going where they need to, it's the healers fricking up on something else.
I just wanted Golbez' greatsword to show off that I could do this sort of content. Instead I'm dealing with my own self-inflicted suffering.
At this point, I don't even want to try clearing the new savages either.
tanks have literally the easiest job in golbez. Queue as a healer if you want the highest probablity of clearing if you actually are good.

Play scholar. It carries the shit out of that fight. You get so much mileage out of critlo deploys and expedient that it feels like the fight was made for the job. Everything in the fight lines up perfectly with your tools too.

It is a matter of pride by this point to clear it.
Don’t drop a group if it’s making progress. All of my clears get a few hiccups when people are figuring out the specifics markings they are using, and I swear people drop after the first wipe to gale 2 despite the group then managing to clear it in 2-3 pulls later. Every time you switch groups you are going back to step 1.
Sometimes you group just disbands. Thats PF for you.
Still yeah, if you find a good group try to not drop it.
Golbez EX is easy though. It is just a matter of being in the right group at the right time. Hell I got my clear on 2nd day just because I passed the 1st one chilling with story.

For me the formula to get me to play an MMO is a lot more complex than a regular game. It needs to have all of the following:
-Gameplay I enjoy and don't find boring.
-I need to be able to play through it alone, but also be able to interact with others and join up if I choose so I can invite friends to play with me or join guilds or whatever.
-It needs to be an attractive, beautiful world I WANT to escape to. It isn't a fantasy if this isn't the case. And I bring this up every time you make this thread, but this game is lacking a key element for me.

They respawn. If they're just some random nobodies hanging around, then they'll probably not bother you anymore, which was the case in previous fights. Problem was with Scarmiglione and Barbariccia because they were actually coming after us so they just abused their respawn.

Movement is all handled client-side, and attempting to throw a skill or spell is too, though it only RESOLVES the skills/spells server side. It sounds like your machine is the problem for movement, and there should be no difference in that.

Honestly despite everything, 6.4 was an improvement on 6.3. It just wasn't as much of an improvement as I hoped.
They seem to be scared to fire on all cylinders. Then again, I imagine they will want to keep a bombastic finale for... well, their finale patch. We'll have to see what 6.5 does. 6.x is not like 5.x where 5.1 to 5.3 just built up on 5.0 and then closed that story with some really, really strong moments and then meandered into pre-EW stuff with the towers and Fandaniel and shit for 5.4 and 5.5 (which people probably would've considered boring in isolation if 5.3 wasn't such a high)

Because the only content I have even passing interest in anymore is the MSQ (just for the story), Exploration content (MIA in EW) and BLU.
The current job design has just sucked the fun out of almost every job for me and there is literally no midcore content in the game, it's either piss baby easy "content" like IS where you are falling asleep at your PC when you "play" it or you've got a choice between turning the game into a job simulator, herding 7 morons around for 10+ hours just for the static to implode afterwards or playing PF roulette with a 10%-50%success rate depending on how current the content is and which server you play on.
I used to be against Trusts since I felt that it undermined the game as an MMO, now I just wish that I could complete everything in the game solo with Trusts or have the ability to drag atleast half of my team of morons kicking and screaming over the finish line with atleast one of the jobs. Him and sadu are way past the "just frick already" line and stringing it out this much is just boring. I hate how the writers seem to be either forbidden or deathly afraid of actually pairing characters off but haven't toned down their fondness of obvious romantic tension to match. It makes a lot of characters a lot less interesting than they could be otherwise if they leaned into it a bit more.

The solution always has been and always will be to make any npc pairings obvious from the first moment they're introduced and make it actual attraction from both sides instead of just hopeless crushes like Wedge or half mockery half tension situations like Magnai and Sadu.
