The gameplay is decent with weapon swapping / overall build shit and the fates that are not FATEs are built into the world substantially better than XIV. Other than that it feels like a much uglier version of Wildstar. I've basically played every MMO save for Black Desert at this point and I'd honestly say GW2 was the one I dropped the fastest.
Tera still has the best gameplay, PvP, and art direction. XIV still has the best music, DA GRAPHIX, and content / systems. I just want Tera with XIV married together so we can end this comedy farce of people saying one MMO is better than another so we can all just play the best MMO together. And Elin.

PLD is much better now than it was during Stormblood, during SB it had that problem where job gauge was fricking awful to generate if you were actually in tank stance so you wanted to be in DPS stance, and a whole slew of other problems relative to DRK and WAR that I won't get into

The whole point of Ultima Thule was that all of them (except Y'shtola who has basically nothing) have been suicidally depressed in one way or another for varying reasons but are willing to keep trucking along for the sake of everything else, and taking a brief Thanos snap vacation for (You)r sake is their way of exemplifying that fact
Their permanent deaths accomplish absolutely no literary or thematic purpose and I genuinely think you should be ashamed of yourself for wanting it, to say the least of the thought that a character should be outright removed from the story or killed if their personal arc is finished

Nah, I know Ryne is stuck on the first but it overall helps the narrative if thancred lives because if thancred dies her character and development is more intricately tied to thancred’s death. It’s more two dimensional. Allowing ryne to develope without that baggage (not even talking in universe im talking about how the reader sees the story) is good for the story. The story is already scion centric as it is

Moenbryda's an unfortunate victim of ARR-era writing and REALLY not knowing what the frick they were doing or where the story was going, else she'd have probably lived. She was the big Poochie mistake that led to later writing revamps

Keep in mind, people are talking relative to when the game had good job design in HW and SB, and noy after the NWO of "nothing should ever let you frick anything up ever" of SHB
For me its when they added job gauges to every job even when it didn't need a gauge and even when they didn't even have a good idea for the gauge so on jobs like WHM it was utterly fricking moronic but every job had to have one so it was forced to be there.
WHM was the onky one with an unnecessary job gauge. If anything there arent enough gauges, stuff like Storm's Eye should have a meter or Leaden Fist. WHM was the only job where they really shoehorned one in, but back then the game was still designed around the armory system instead of ignoring it and WHM was still the training wheels healer, they hadn't slapped training wheels on every other healer yet, so it didn't matter too much that WHM had a job gauge that only mattered for shitters.

Frick off, you could probably cut over a third of the job gauges in this game without changing anything. Stormblood especially was a lot worse in that regard, with many jobs getting job gauges solely so they could have job gauges (like Paladin who even now has an absolutely pointless gauge that should really just be converted to a stack cd system).
These fricking threads are just people repeating the same points over and over and over. And if anyone ever contradicts them or succesfully argues against them, all they do is go quiet, wait for the next thread, then go right back at it while hoping this time the person that argued back is either not online or is too tired of that argument to respond back again.

I think XIV isn't for me anymore. The only thing I enjoy lately is collecting Blue Mage spells and Variant Dungeons. Everything else is just a boring grind. Gonna try and hold out until Golbez is dead, but this MSQ has been so boring so far that I don't expect my feelings to change.

Had it happen with Sil'dih and Stormblood EX Trials for Blue Mage. If it's non-standard content, you pretty much have to jump on the bandwagon immediately or find some specialized Discord.
I wouldn't say putting more difficult content into the game is bad. It's just that it's always optional AND tied to some unique system of queueing, meaning that most people are more than likely never going to engage with it.

I think its damage personally would stay the same since it already has self-utility like Radiant Aegis and some very light party support with Phoenix, it's kinda neat as a "different kind" of selfish DPS that's capable of self-sustain with a personal shield and a very situational themed Excogitation you slap onto a party member + one tick of Regen for the whole party
The cowards will never do it, but the best thing for SMN/SCH would be to separate them.
They may as well already be separated in their current state, Scholar has no similarities to Arcanist in playstyle and hasn't since Shadowbringers

the problem with wow's design is that sometimes the class you want to play just isn't invited to things because of the community thinks it sucks, or you don't bring one of the three necessary ccs for mythic+ or whatever
then your find a class that's good and it tgets nerfed into being totally shitty damage wise, or having the fun part of it's playstyle removed (Outlaw combo points nerf from this expac), then you have to go through the whole gear treadmill on an entirely new class AGAIN and hope that wow doesn't randomly flush them down the toilet like they did the old class.
You can get a free 650 welfare weapon, Golbez filtered half of PF, everyone who cares about mounts already has 100 totems, and the all EX mount is shit compared to previous ones.
All that combined means there aren't that many people doing it now.

Usually play pld and have been trying out gunbreaker. Does Superbolide have any value in dungeons? I blow Hallowed Ground on big pulls, but getting use out of Super seems less straightforward.
Superbolide is generally used in the same circumstances, it's Hallowed Ground except it drops your HP to 1 after doing so. Make sure to put some kind of macro with a sound-effect on it to let your healer know you've just shot yourself in the head.

You're probably dead regardless in that case. The only way you can actually die in a dungeon is if you and the healer both frick up pretty bad.
You have to already be on low hp before you use it, because losing all your health for just 10s of invuln isn't worth it. Convincing a rando healer to let you drop below 50% is hard enough, so it's just not worth it.

The gameplay is decent with weapon swapping / overall build shit and the fates that are not FATEs are built into the world substantially better than XIV. Other than that it feels like a much uglier version of Wildstar. I've basically played every MMO save for Black Desert at this point and I'd honestly say GW2 was the one I dropped the fastest.
Tera still has the best gameplay, PvP, and art direction. XIV still has the best music, DA GRAPHIX, and content / systems. I just want Tera with XIV married together so we can end this comedy farce of people saying one MMO is better than another so we can all just play the best MMO together. And Elin.

No one outside of the Scions knows about the white auracite trick to actually kill an Ascian. Gaius couldn't have done more than just destroy their current bodies, which is a temporary inconvenience at most.

The whole point of Ultima Thule was that all of them (except Y'shtola who has basically nothing) have been suicidally depressed in one way or another for varying reasons but are willing to keep trucking along for the sake of everything else, and taking a brief Thanos snap vacation for (You)r sake is their way of exemplifying that fact
Their permanent deaths accomplish absolutely no literary or thematic purpose and I genuinely think you should be ashamed of yourself for wanting it, to say the least of the thought that a character should be outright removed from the story or killed if their personal arc is finished

Nah, I know Ryne is stuck on the first but it overall helps the narrative if thancred lives because if thancred dies her character and development is more intricately tied to thancred’s death. It’s more two dimensional. Allowing ryne to develope without that baggage (not even talking in universe im talking about how the reader sees the story) is good for the story. For me its when they added job gauges to every job even when it didn't need a gauge and even when they didn't even have a good idea for the gauge so on jobs like WHM it was utterly fricking moronic but every job had to have one so it was forced to be there.
WHM was the onky one with an unnecessary job gauge. If anything there arent enough gauges, stuff like Storm's Eye should have a meter or Leaden Fist. WHM was the only job where they really shoehorned one in, but back then the game was still designed around the armory system instead of ignoring it and WHM was still the training wheels healer, they hadn't slapped training wheels on every other healer yet, so it didn't matter too much that WHM had a job gauge that only mattered for shitters.
MNK gauge was just as useless as WHM's.

Stormblood especially was a lot worse in that regard, with many jobs getting job gauges solely so they could have job gauges (like Paladin who even now has an absolutely pointless gauge that should really just be converted to a stack cd system).

There has been numerous times when I just want to hang out with the bros and do something with them but there is absolutely NO reason to group up for content (lol) unless ure raiding. Even when u get giga bored you cannot even que casual pvp with friends and u have to que at the same time and hope to get into the same match.
Its moronic because they dum down the game so even 40yo slow moron (70% of the palyerbase) who is going to get anxiety attack if he has to press 3 buttons can play it. And then they remove the need to group up and with people completely.
And as much as you would want to blame the morons in this thread for this it is actually the japanese who are responsible because on JP you play the game alone and others are literally just NPCs.

Tanks and healers behaving similarly, even identically, at a basic level makes perfect sense on its face, it's for the sake of encounter design and balance therein to have an expectation of a basic, homogenous skillset
One of those Japanese Q&As really threw Yoshida off when they asked about healers being boring though, there's some kind of willing complacency in regard to healers and an expectation that they're as simple as they are. I do kind of get Yoshida's train of thought though because when healing checks actually do get higher-intensity, people shit their pants
There's zero reason why 2 of the 4 healers shouldn't be more interesting. Why does AST need to be dumbed down constantly when WHM exists as babies first healer?

They may as well already be separated in their current state, Scholar has no similarities to Arcanist in playstyle and hasn't since Shadowbringers

the problem with wow's design is that sometimes the class you want to play just isn't invited to things because of the community thinks it sucks, or you don't bring one of the three necessary ccs for mythic+ or whatever
then your find a class that's good and it tgets nerfed into being totally shitty damage wise, or having the fun part of it's playstyle removed (Outlaw combo points nerf from this expac), then you have to go through the whole gear treadmill on an entirely new class AGAIN and hope that wow doesn't randomly flush them down the toilet like they did the old class.

Usually play pld and have been trying out gunbreaker. Does Superbolide have any value in dungeons? I blow Hallowed Ground on big pulls, but getting use out of Super seems less straightforward.

Superbolide is generally used in the same circumstances, it's Hallowed Ground except it drops your HP to 1 after doing so. Make sure to put some kind of macro with a sound-effect on it to let your healer know you've just shot yourself in the head.
You just need to say you're going to use it before the pull so that the healer doesn't waste cds.
HG is the only tank invuln that you can use proactively in dungeons. You only pop the bolide if you're gonna die without it.

You're probably dead regardless in that case. The only way you can actually die in a dungeon is if you and the healer both frick up pretty bad.
I don't find the dungeons hard enough to ever have to use Superbolide even on the big pulls. I just use it if I'm near death anyway.
You have to already be on low hp before you use it, because losing all your health for just 10s of invuln isn't worth it. Convincing a rando healer to let you drop below 50% is hard enough, so it's just not worth it.

Nidhogg floated off back to the Dragonstar when he died (Hraesvelgr does too in the Dragonsong ultimate), Zero floated off back to the Void after Zenos died, Zenos should be the same way with Eitherys's lifestream and float on back even from the edge of the universe

The only reason why Thancred didn't die is because of the Trust system and they realized he was the only tank they had in the entire scions at the time

I'm now halfway through EW and I still have no idea what people mean by Urianger being a good character. Once again he just lied to everyone, made things worse for no reason, got his friends attacked, and then everything got "solved" because he talked funny. Honestly I'm mostly offended at how repetitive and pointless of a character he is.
I'm really still not impressed with this character and wonder what everyone sees in him.

Urianger is the based autist of the group who repeatedly tries to act mysterious and cool but everyone know he's a colossal fricking dork.
The issue here is thats how the Scions are written, they're too marketable to kill off or write off so they're stuck repeating their core traits forever.
