Did my dailies for the week and grinding out White Scrips for Gatherer is really long and boring. Even with me fishing for like 4-5 hours to fill up my entire inventory of collectable fish. I don't understand why Gatherer scrips take so long to do while on crafter it is quick to get scrips?
Unsubbed for the first time in 2 years. I've just gotten tired of the content. Frontlines was more fun for me when they first updated the PvP system last year. I've done most stuff in the game but have no interest in ultimate raiding. Was trying Necromancer recently but got bored of it.
They really did butcher frontlines with each patch after the PvP rework. Last patch was heinous where you remove secure (good lmao that shit was trash) but then they turn around and make shatter into secure 2.0 when nobody was asking for it to be changed. They then shorten the games by about 1-2 minutes (which is bad because late game is more valuable than early, meaning all it did was reduce comebacks) while also buffing the bane of FL, the DRK premades. Every single change last patch buffed the premades, from the BRD changes to the DRK changes
It's never worth doing any goddamn thing in this game when it's fresh. Not mount farming, not Triple Triad, treasure map loot eventually plummets in value, relics get nerfed. It's like you should only do side content from like 2 expacs before the current one.
The same ilvl from ffxi system is a concept too hard for anyone to remake. So we have the wow system forever. Even more after lvl 100 is revealed. We're going till lvl 1000

well, open tournaments aren't that popular. there's about 20 regulars i see on crystal. it is a problem yes, but the more involved gold saucer games aren't something sprouts do. they hang out and do GATEs. you could just restrict what cards that sprouts can get in the draft, but that goes against the spirit of the draft imho, and the majority of the cards aren't spoilers themselves. i'd say its really only zodiark and hydaelyn, shadowbringers warrior of light because of the primal tag, keyward lahabrea because of the name, and maybe stormblood gilgamesh. the rest are contextless spoilers. getting a Meteion in draft isn't spoilering endwalker. you don't know who the frick she is, and a girl with birdwing hair isn't really that weird in a FF game

One of the biggest problems 14 has is that the more platforms the game releases on the harder it is to make every patch. So the more platforms, the longer each patch takes and now they are wanting to release on xbox and switch too.
They are effectively killing the game by trying to reach more players than they are capable of reaching, the way it's going it will be 5-6 months between patches and you'll still be paying the same.
I don't play FFXIV because it has a monthly fee but it doesn't really ever have enough content or add enough content to warrant that fee once you hit max level. If they added a decent amount of content every 4 weeks or so then I'd bite.
They have enough other forms of microtransactions that they don't really need that one.
FFXIV is only "difficult" because the classes are needlessly complex and the raids are bloated with mechanics. WoW difficulty is more genuine since it's based on gear checks, while FFXIV difficulty is artificial since it's gatekeeped by skill.
Actually, Kairos is the main reason this entire situation is salvageable in the first place. Let's run through the same events we saw play out, except Kairos isn't there. I think that's a bit of an oversimplification since I think a lot of Hermes' actions are predicated on Kairos' existence.
The events in Ktisis play out as we see, but nobody's mind is wiped of them. We can set Hythlodaeus aside since he's not in any position of power.
We can safely assume that Emet keeps to his word and makes sure Hermes is out of contest to become Fandaniel. In terms of searching for applicants, they're back to square one; it doesn't seem like they had other options. We don't know how much time happened between the events of Elpis and the End of Days, but I think it's fairly plausible that in this scenario, there is no Fandaniel by the time the skies ignite. Being generous and assuming there is, we don't get much better: the main thing Hermes brought to the table wasn't being a Fandaniel, but already having an intimate understanding of dynamis, a field so esoteric that it seems he's the only person in Elpis to do so. That's gonna lead to this Fandaniel playing catchup when the End of Days hit, at a time when any time lost is crucial. I think the chances of Zodiark happening in this scenario are slim-to-none, and with higher chance of failures.
Finished the 6.0 main quest and absolutely loved it. It just feels wrong to not let my WoL rest for a bit. Will probs return for 7.0 and work through 6.x then.

I downloaded Dalamud, installed the most popular plugins, ones with multiple hundreds of thousands of downloads, some even with a millions of downloads and now I feel like I'm cheating at the game.
How the frick do people get away with this blatant shit?
For example, I've for months been hunting marks on my own, A marks and the S marks if I can get them spawned, but almost always they are insta popped before I get to them.
I install Sonar, and I get a message that an A rank has spawned in Dravania, I head over and see 10 people all flying in, it's literally just spawned in and I'm teleporting plus flying as fast as I can and there are ten+ people ready to go, then burning it.
Man, I have never felt like I've been played in all my time in this game. I've been playing with no mods, as I was kept told this game doesn't encourage them and they're a big no no, and here I find I'm the only fricker not using them.

Go to any DC leaderboard, it's easy to find people in the upper top100 for season1 and 2 with thousands of wins that can't even hit top100 later on. Early seasons were just a contest of who played the most and farmed people that didn't belong to their mm and abusing busted jobs, every S1 and S2 title is meaningless.

I've currently stalled out on doing the MSQ at early Endwalker. I know it's the start of the expansion but I've found it incredibly dull so far. However, I don't want to do side content as my autism is pushing me to complete the MSQ first so not playing it right now.
Echo were doing TOP completely blind, they put those restrictions on themselves to prove they could do it with no outside help which is admirable but it's not representative of raiding in FFXIV.
For example, that same raid was beaten within 1 week when the race to world first was on. with almost all teams who were competing, completing TOP within 2 weeks.
Now the strats are all figured out, if you don't have a moronic static that is dedicated you can do it within a week or two, but more than likely it will take a lot longer because people will only play for an hour or two a couple of times during the week.
That is for TOP though, which is an Ultimate, the hardest fight in the game at the moment.
Try your hand at savages, or Extremes if you are overwalled.
i find it hard to believe that eight people maintained the discipline to remain truly blind while progging something for nigh half a year and wiping literally 1700+ times
I just hit Lv90 on Monk because I didn't think I'd enjoy it. I had a fricking blast, what a well-made job, why is this the least popular again?
For me, I hate the Monk aesthetic in every game, I hate tribal/Tibetan/Chinese/martial arts cringe shit. But the moveset is fricking fantastic, playing it after Samurai is hilarious because Samurai is just a b***h version of Monk. It takes ONE of Monk's mechanics (comboing 3 different types of attack) and makes it its main one; meanwhile Monk has like three OTHER mechanics tied to it. Samurai is a fricking joke.
My definition of a badly made job is one where it's either TOO simple, or there are buttons which you just never use. I love Dark Knight, but it has shit like Shadowbringer and Oblation x2, when the FRICK are you supposed to use those among all your other mits? Warrior reigns supreme because you use ALL of its buttons all the time. Paladin is a bit like Dark Knight but with cringe mechs like healing and extra shields, which your group should be good enough to not need. Gunbreaker is fine but I've not played enough of it, doesn't seem different enough from the other tanks.
Also, I fricking HATE jobs with a "pairing" mechanic like Dance Partner (Dancer is otherwise pretty good for a ranged phys) and Dragon's Eye (Dragoon is also otherwise really good). Machinist's kit is all over the place because everything has different cooldowns and no strong theme; Bard has a huge proportion of its kit dedicated to...keeping 2 DoTs up. wtf? Even Bard's songs suck, with some being just clearly better to use at all times and the rest just based on cooldown. Going back to Monk, the Riddle skills are better versions of songs with tiny cooldown (except the fricking shield for some fricking reason)

At least there are addons that automate card targets for AST and snap back to the original target if you had one. If I wasn't completely incompetent at computer I'd make one myself that auto-targets the other DPS(or the one with the highest iLvl during 8-man shit) for Dragon's Eye.
As an addendum to the pairing shit, the reason I don't like it is because you should not have an entire skill that is basically useless unless you're in a specific situation. At least you can use them with your chocobo but would it really be too much to allow you to bring your chocobo into a fricking dungeon with you? Or Dragoon could get a wyvern to share it with like in FFXI. Fricking ANYTHING.
White Mage is a fantastic healer; Astrologian is weird with the most worthless buff mechanic I've ever seen. Scholar is an awful job with absolutely no theme whatsoever, skills all over the place like Machinist; nothing goes together. There's a fairy for some reason. Sage is /fine/ but its skill names and icons are awkward to learn and are boring, not doing anything after you get over the floating guns. They really made a Nu Gundam-themed Healer and somehow DID NOT PUT IN its famous pyramid barrier!? HOW?!
Anyway Ninja is fun but the Naruto mudras are cringe. I'm sorry, but they are. And again the Hide skill is useless in battle, so it's a waste. Reaper is fun with great flow, it's hard to frick it up, a bit like Dancer.
Red Mage is a lot of fun but all the extra shit tacked on after its combo kinda sucks. Instead of trying make up more "Red Mage" shit they should just give it more White/Black magic spells. You want to play the game with 7 other bots, not interact with anyone and just try to play both the DDR that is your "rotation" and the fight. It is the most soulless kind of MMO combat I have ever seen. At that point you have to question why you play a MMO.

Explain how a 15-second buff to damage dealt (and you can't even select it, it's random lol) is going to do anything that a buff skill like Arcane Circle or Dark Missionary will already be regularly doing anyway? Why is it so fricking random?
I played Corsair in XI and its BASE Phantom Roll gave a FIVE MINUTE buff, totally fricking mogs Astrologian who has to constantly wageslave away spinning its stupid cards and then tab-targeting over someone, anyone, to fricking receive it. NO TANK EVER has been saved by having The Bole, a piss-tiny buff to whatever.

The problem was the random nature. Bole was naked flat 20% damage reduction for 30 seconds, which is huge. This could be 45 seconds at 20%, 30 seconds at 30!% or AoE 30 seconds at 10%. All of those are pretty great, compare that to Rampart which is 20% for 20 seconds. But it being random and 'sharing' a slot with Balance made it sadly obsolete. A healer having such a mitigation tool these days would be cause for a huge uproar in the fflogs troon community. But I agree, ASTs thing is completely shit right now.
Because good AST know the timing of other party members burst skills and when to card someone. It's a job that really only gets to shine in premades whete you know what is going to happen instead of making an educated guess.

Basically on top of your other mits, in dungeons I typically pair Oblation with Reprisal to create a 20% damage mit, or if its in a raid you typically do something like TBN + Oblation + Dark Mind for 30% Mit with tbn's shield.
The cooldowns of Dark mind and oblation are so short compared to other tank mits, you really have no reason to not spam them. but as a result DRK will be using 3-4 mits to others tank's 2-3.

Why play a job where you use 3-4 mits when you could play a job that uses 2-3? 99% of the time you do that it frankly doesn't matter what % mit you do because as long as your healers exist in the same dimension as you, the damage will be instantly recovered anyway.

Bard is the procs job, not the dot job now. Your main source of "fun" in your rotation is in maximising your procs and knowing when to empyreal arrow or dumping your ogcds while not double weaving and maintaining your dots. I love the job in its current gameplay state but I wish it has more flavour

Dance Partner is great, you use it once and that's it outside of situations like the other dps and the healer dying on a dungeon boss so you swap to the tank.

I have now finished Vanilla, Zilart, CoP and Treasures. XI's story is fine, but you really can't compare it to XIV, especially when it comes to your character being an actual being in cutscenes. Wings and Seekers apparently doubled down on the absolutely moronic timegating of "Return tomorrow to continue the Story for another cutscene", which makes me legit not want to engage with it.
And anyone who clamours for more complex maps overworld maps in XIV should be forced to rescue prisoners in Treasures.
The main difference is that you are a side character, not the main holy shit you're awesome bro character that the story has to focus on. More complex overworld maps are great but the games are very different, what works in one won't work in the other just that easily.
Also remember that a lot of the day long waits came at the end of a "patch cycle" so you weren't going to get to that next quest for a few months anyway.
Its mostly about the customization options that lost actions provide, content like DRS and DRN, and dal/castrum, all while providing decently challenging mid-level contnet that you dont even need the rigid trinity comp to beat.
Sure you can be a meta-troony and optimize all of the fun out of bozja for yourself, but thats like pretending that the rabbit farming is all there is to eureka.
What’s the deal with meol in Shadowbringers? I know it’s supposed to be sin eater flesh but I think it’s actually more sinister than that. There are multiple points in the 5.0 MSQ where your character eats disgusting food. The writers intentionally want you to be thinking about vomiting because someone offered you disgusting food. The Mord in particular are known for eating grubs, stale bread and cactus fruits. They love eating that shit, others hate it Enter meol, which some people think is delicious, and others absolutely hate it. Why? What did the writers mean by this? I think there’s a connection between the Mord and meol, and this plot line may be the basis for a future expansion. Imagine returning to the First and the Mord have become illuminati who control the food supply. That would be a cool expansion. We need an expansion cinematic with a bunch of hand-rubbing Mords doling out goyslop.

FFXIV has to be one, if not the most overrated game ever. I know the fanboys will get their panties in a bunch and feel offended (as if I cared), but denying its flaws turns the devs complacent, more than they already are.
Quest design is just bad, tedious and extremely boring. To solve just one quest you have to walk to and fro and talk with at least three NPCs, all of which will go into lengthy platitudes that do little to advance the story or resolve said quest. Bad writing is bad, these quest chains could be easily solved with one NPC and way less self-indulgent exposition.
Speaking of bad storytelling, the plot has never been good. It's vague, horridly and needlessly ambiguous, and at least too long by half. Endwalker wins the cake here. To make matters worse, in addition to poorly developed 'villains', it turns out that by the end you must and have to feel sorry for them because they're misunderstood, never mind that one of them is schizophrenic and the other one a sociopath, both of them genocidal. It's ridiculous, there's no payout and only fake and far-fetched catharsis. I'm actually sorry I spent so much time on this travesty that Yoshi-P has dared to call 'game'. If anything, it feels more like the selfishly fulfilled fantasy (pun intended) of a failed writer and subpar programmer.

In what way, a major problem with where the story has gotten is that they have felt the need to explain EVERYTHING that was once mystical and magical, everything is muh Ancients or now muh aliens, there is no mystery, vagueness or wonder anymore. AFK'ing in town is just an MMO expression of sorts. In older ones if you weren't setting up shop selling items (before auction houses) you were just, "Prince DemonKing666" with angel wings and a glowing weapon so bright it stuttered the game every time you walked by.
I mean, once the method of traveling from one shard to the other is establish, it'd certainly seem possible. While I don't see her staying dude to the work she still has to do on the First, she'd at least be able to visit. They cant even lock her out with nonsense about her not being from the Source since Zero was able to come back to the Source and appears able to visit the First as well.
That is a secondary reason why I said visit, and not stay/join. Reason of Gaia aside, I do believe she'd feel obligated to continue her work restoring the First. That said, if she was asked to help the people who helped save her shard I have no doubt she'd be willing to help as long as she had the assurance she'd be able to return.

wouldn't be that difficult. turn 3 would have to get axed, turn 2 might be turned into something more like A6, twintania would probably have its divebomb phase cut to be a lot shorter and twisters given a more clear indicator. turns t6, 7 and 8 hold up but would need modern markers, 9 would be completely revamped. kaliya would need to be restructured. the rest would be fine with just a update on indicators

Yeah that's kind of the problem. This will really only kick in once the story needs it to. But from a character perspective, being outside your home shard is dangerous af if you aren't constantly on the lookout for the time flow and are ready to jump back at any time, otherwise you risk losing your entire life back home.

Unsubbed for the first time in 2 years. I've just gotten tired of the content. Frontlines was more fun for me when they first updated the PvP system last year. I've done most stuff in the game but have no interest in ultimate raiding. Was trying Necromancer recently but got bored of it.
They really did butcher frontlines with each patch after the PvP rework. Last patch was heinous where you remove secure (good lmao that shit was trash) but then they turn around and make shatter into secure 2.0 when nobody was asking for it to be changed. They then shorten the games by about 1-2 minutes (which is bad because late game is more valuable than early, meaning all it did was reduce comebacks) while also buffing the bane of FL, the DRK premades. Every single change last patch buffed the premades, from the BRD changes to the DRK changes
I don't know what will I do once I get my last ultimate. Probably a good break is in order before 7.0.

One of the biggest problems 14 has is that the more platforms the game releases on the harder it is to make every patch. So the more platforms, the longer each patch takes and now they are wanting to release on xbox and switch too.
They are effectively killing the game by trying to reach more players than they are capable of reaching, the way it's going it will be 5-6 months between patches and you'll still be paying the same.
Because the game went shit with HW. ARR was comfy.

Actually, Kairos is the main reason this entire situation is salvageable in the first place. Let's run through the same events we saw play out, except Kairos isn't there. I think that's a bit of an oversimplification since I think a lot of Hermes' actions are predicated on Kairos' existence.
The events in Ktisis play out as we see, but nobody's mind is wiped of them. We can set Hythlodaeus aside since he's not in any position of power.
We can safely assume that Emet keeps to his word and makes sure Hermes is out of contest to become Fandaniel. In terms of searching for applicants, they're back to square one; it doesn't seem like they had other options. We don't know how much time happened between the events of Elpis and the End of Days, but I think it's fairly plausible that in this scenario, there is no Fandaniel by the time the skies ignite. Being generous and assuming there is, we don't get much better: the main thing Hermes brought to the table wasn't being a Fandaniel, but already having an intimate understanding of dynamis, a field so esoteric that it seems he's the only person in Elpis to do so. That's gonna lead to this Fandaniel playing catchup when the End of Days hit, at a time when any time lost is crucial. I think the chances of Zodiark happening in this scenario are slim-to-none, and with higher chance of failures.

I downloaded Dalamud, installed the most popular plugins, ones with multiple hundreds of thousands of downloads, some even with a millions of downloads and now I feel like I'm cheating at the game.
How the frick do people get away with this blatant shit?
For example, I've for months been hunting marks on my own, A marks and the S marks if I can get them spawned, but almost always they are insta popped before I get to them.
I install Sonar, and I get a message that an A rank has spawned in Dravania, I head over and see 10 people all flying in, it's literally just spawned in and I'm teleporting plus flying as fast as I can and there are ten+ people ready to go, then burning it.
Man, I have never felt like I've been played in all my time in this game. I've been playing with no mods, as I was kept told this game doesn't encourage them and they're a big no no, and here I find I'm the only fricker not using them.

I've currently stalled out on doing the MSQ at early Endwalker. I know it's the start of the expansion but I've found it incredibly dull so far. However, I don't want to do side content as my autism is pushing me to complete the MSQ first so not playing it right now.
wow raiding is might be easier but I think it's overall more fun. No ones like wiping repeatedly on the same fights for weeks.
Echo were doing TOP completely blind, they put those restrictions on themselves to prove they could do it with no outside help which is admirable but it's not representative of raiding in FFXIV.
For example, that same raid was beaten within 1 week when the race to world first was on. with almost all teams who were competing, completing TOP within 2 weeks.
Now the strats are all figured out, if you don't have a moronic static that is dedicated you can do it within a week or two, but more than likely it will take a lot longer because people will only play for an hour or two a couple of times during the week.
That is for TOP though, which is an Ultimate, the hardest fight in the game at the moment.
Try your hand at savages, or Extremes if you are overwalled.

I just hit Lv90 on Monk because I didn't think I'd enjoy it. I had a fricking blast, what a well-made job, why is this the least popular again?
For me, I hate the Monk aesthetic in every game, I hate tribal/Tibetan/Chinese/martial arts cringe shit. But the moveset is fricking fantastic, playing it after Samurai is hilarious because Samurai is just a b***h version of Monk. It takes ONE of Monk's mechanics (comboing 3 different types of attack) and makes it its main one; meanwhile Monk has like three OTHER mechanics tied to it. Samurai is a fricking joke.
My definition of a badly made job is one where it's either TOO simple, or there are buttons which you just never use. I love Dark Knight, but it has shit like Shadowbringer and Oblation x2, when the FRICK are you supposed to use those among all your other mits? Warrior reigns supreme because you use ALL of its buttons all the time. Paladin is a bit like Dark Knight but with cringe mechs like healing and extra shields, which your group should be good enough to not need. Gunbreaker is fine but I've not played enough of it, doesn't seem different enough from the other tanks.
Also, I fricking HATE jobs with a "pairing" mechanic like Dance Partner (Dancer is otherwise pretty good for a ranged phys) and Dragon's Eye (Dragoon is also otherwise really good). Machinist's kit is all over the place because everything has different cooldowns and no strong theme; Bard has a huge proportion of its kit dedicated to...keeping 2 DoTs up. wtf? Even Bard's songs suck, with some being just clearly better to use at all times and the rest just based on cooldown. Going back to Monk, the Riddle skills are better versions of songs with tiny cooldown (except the fricking shield for some fricking reason)

At least there are addons that automate card targets for AST and snap back to the original target if you had one. If I wasn't completely incompetent at computer I'd make one myself that auto-targets the other DPS(or the one with the highest iLvl during 8-man shit) for Dragon's Eye.
As an addendum to the pairing shit, the reason I don't like it is because you should not have an entire skill that is basically useless unless you're in a specific situation. At least you can use them with your chocobo but would it really be too much to allow you to bring your chocobo into a fricking dungeon with you? Or Dragoon could get a wyvern to share it with like in FFXI. Fricking ANYTHING.
White Mage is a fantastic healer; Astrologian is weird with the most worthless buff mechanic I've ever seen. Scholar is an awful job with absolutely no theme whatsoever, skills all over the place like Machinist; nothing goes together. There's a fairy for some reason. Sage is /fine/ but its skill names and icons are awkward to learn and are boring, not doing anything after you get over the floating guns. They really made a Nu Gundam-themed Healer and somehow DID NOT PUT IN its famous pyramid barrier!? HOW?!
Anyway Ninja is fun but the Naruto mudras are cringe. I'm sorry, but they are. And again the Hide skill is useless in battle, so it's a waste. Reaper is fun with great flow, it's hard to frick it up, a bit like Dancer.
Red Mage is a lot of fun but all the extra shit tacked on after its combo kinda sucks. Instead of trying make up more "Red Mage" shit they should just give it more White/Black magic spells. Speaking of Black Mage, it's fine I guess but it absolutely sucks in any content that isn't raids (I'm totally sure it wasn't designed to be important in the only content that matters to some people by a certain dev) because packs are designed to be fricking blasted through before you even get a spell off.
Also the elements feel hollow and shit because they don't actually do anything unique, just single target/multi-target/DoT. Boring.

NO TANK EVER has been saved by having The Bole, a piss-tiny buff to whatever.

The problem was the random nature. Bole was naked flat 20% damage reduction for 30 seconds, which is huge. This could be 45 seconds at 20%, 30 seconds at 30!% or AoE 30 seconds at 10%. All of those are pretty great, compare that to Rampart which is 20% for 20 seconds. But it being random and 'sharing' a slot with Balance made it sadly obsolete. A healer having such a mitigation tool these days would be cause for a huge uproar in the fflogs troon community. But I agree, ASTs thing is completely shit right now.
Because good AST know the timing of other party members burst skills and when to card someone. It's a job that really only gets to shine in premades whete you know what is going to happen instead of making an educated guess.

Basically on top of your other mits, in dungeons I typically pair Oblation with Reprisal to create a 20% damage mit, or if its in a raid you typically do something like TBN + Oblation + Dark Mind for 30% Mit with tbn's shield.
The cooldowns of Dark mind and oblation are so short compared to other tank mits, you really have no reason to not spam them. but as a result DRK will be using 3-4 mits to others tank's 2-3.

Why play a job where you use 3-4 mits when you could play a job that uses 2-3? 99% of the time you do that it frankly doesn't matter what % mit you do because as long as your healers exist in the same dimension as you, the damage will be instantly recovered anyway.

Bard is the procs job, not the dot job now. Your main source of "fun" in your rotation is in maximising your procs and knowing when to empyreal arrow or dumping your ogcds while not double weaving and maintaining your dots. I love the job in its current gameplay state but I wish it has more flavour

I have now finished Vanilla, Zilart, CoP and Treasures. XI's story is fine, but you really can't compare it to XIV, especially when it comes to your character being an actual being in cutscenes. Wings and Seekers apparently doubled down on the absolutely moronic timegating of "Return tomorrow to continue the Story for another cutscene", which makes me legit not want to engage with it.
And anyone who clamours for more complex maps overworld maps in XIV should be forced to rescue prisoners in Treasures.
The main difference is that you are a side character, not the main holy shit you're awesome bro character that the story has to focus on. More complex overworld maps are great but the games are very different, what works in one won't work in the other just that easily.
Also remember that a lot of the day long waits came at the end of a "patch cycle" so you weren't going to get to that next quest for a few months anyway.

What’s the deal with meol in Shadowbringers? I know it’s supposed to be sin eater flesh but I think it’s actually more sinister than that. There are multiple points in the 5.0 MSQ where your character eats disgusting food. The writers intentionally want you to be thinking about vomiting because someone offered you disgusting food. The Mord in particular are known for eating grubs, stale bread and cactus fruits. They love eating that shit, others hate it Enter meol, which some people think is delicious, and others absolutely hate it. Why? What did the writers mean by this? I think there’s a connection between the Mord and meol, and this plot line may be the basis for a future expansion. Imagine returning to the First and the Mord have become illuminati who control the food supply. That would be a cool expansion. We need an expansion cinematic with a bunch of hand-rubbing Mords doling out goyslop.

FFXIV has to be one, if not the most overrated game ever. I know the fanboys will get their panties in a bunch and feel offended (as if I cared), but denying its flaws turns the devs complacent, more than they already are.
Quest design is just bad, tedious and extremely boring. To solve just one quest you have to walk to and fro and talk with at least three NPCs, all of which will go into lengthy platitudes that do little to advance the story or resolve said quest. Bad writing is bad, these quest chains could be easily solved with one NPC and way less self-indulgent exposition.
Speaking of bad storytelling, the plot has never been good. It's vague, horridly and needlessly ambiguous, and at least too long by half. Endwalker wins the cake here. To make matters worse, in addition to poorly developed 'villains', it turns out that by the end you must and have to feel sorry for them because they're misunderstood, never mind that one of them is schizophrenic and the other one a sociopath, both of them genocidal. It's ridiculous, there's no payout and only fake and far-fetched catharsis. I'm actually sorry I spent so much time on this travesty that Yoshi-P has dared to call 'game'. If anything, it feels more like the selfishly fulfilled fantasy (pun intended) of a failed writer and subpar programmer.

In what way, a major problem with where the story has gotten is that they have felt the need to explain EVERYTHING that was once mystical and magical, everything is muh Ancients or now muh aliens, there is no mystery, vagueness or wonder anymore. Encyclopedia Eorzea is basically worthless because the bulk of everything in them has been retconned or explained away.

Yeah that's kind of the problem. This will really only kick in once the story needs it to. But from a character perspective, being outside your home shard is dangerous af if you aren't constantly on the lookout for the time flow and are ready to jump back at any time, otherwise you risk losing your entire life back home.
