This storyline has killed WoL's low stakes adventure seeking so fast he only wore the Tataru outfit for one patch before armoring up again, turned Estinien into an alcoholic, lobotomized Vrtra and is threatening to have Y'shtola get malnourished from overworking.
So much for a chill break, it's been more stressful and high stakes than Dawntrail will be.
Expacs follow a pattern. Shadowbringers was set up in Heavensward post-story. Endwalker was set up in Stormblood's post-story.
This shit is setting up whatever 8.0 will be, while Dawntrail itself is another abrupt change of pace like Shadowbringers.
8.0 will probably be Meracydia, hope everyone is ready for all maps to be Azys Lla but with Aussie accents.

Honestly I think this a huge issue, the game is really hostile to doing the msq together with friends. IMO they should slop together a quick fix where the party leader runs the cutscenes and appears in them, and the content scales to the party size.
I don't really see a problem with the game for doing msq together, the main issue that I've found is people doing it at different speeds, like I finished in 2 months where my friend's taken a year to finish 3.0

You've highlighted the problem: people do the MSQ separately, not together. It's constantly putting you in different instances to do story content and the constant cutscenes mean that timing is awkward

What bothers me is there's very little real character progression. Like, any gear you get is going to be obsolete in within a month or two. And once all your jobs are maxed, there's nothing left to do to improve your character. Which means you're only real "progression" involves aesthetics like mounts or clothes, or houses if you're so fortunate. All of which bore me.
You really have no real reason to engage in any activity in the game apart from love for the activity itself. Which is not necessarily a bad thing, but is certainly a thing.
Savage raid rewards are worth a grand total of Fricking Nothing except for the mount, and if you don't like the mount you have no real reason to do them, but I have fun with the fights so I do them anyway for that reason, but goddamnit I wish that when you go that far towards gearing yourself it would at least let you do meaningfully more damage in roulettes or something, like a little bonus showing that you put in the work, so you get to help the party more.
there is like two dungeons and the current 25 raid tier in which you can wag your dick at casuals. Well you could if they had a dps meter or even understood what the aggro ranking list implied.

All I can think of is Mt. Gulg where good players can flex by doing insane pulls, Bardam's Mettle for the same reason but less so, and Stone Vigil that allows similarly dangerous pulls beyond the limits the game seems to wish to keep you in.
Beyond that, all I can think of is Aurum Vale, but that's more of a case of "impressing players by showing you know the ancient forbidden technique of hugging the left wall and running rather than waiting for frogs to aggro on you and pull the whole room"

i did, i didnt' get the understand the essence system, i got spanked by everysingle mob in the zone, the plot is dumb as frick and I hate hrothgar on a racial level. So i said frick it.
I came back a while later because I wanted to do my epic, and doing fates in Coerthas sounded gay. Some dude was just inviting all noobs into his cluster farm, so I got a bunch of nice essences and the riding map, and it suddenly sucked a lot less.
Playing around with lost action combos is fun as frick. I tried out lost slash for the first time, skirmisher + noble ends + reassemble (mch) just deletes whole packs.

No that isn't what it's about at all, the quests were about Ugetsu being a fricking moron and having absolutely no op-sec. He fricked up the revolutionary acts that Musosai and others were doing, the whole point was that Musosai and Ugetsu were regularly killing corrupt nobles but had the forethought to disguise their identity until Ugetsu fricked it up and not only jeopardized himself and his family, but consigned Musosai to seppuku in the process since it was known Ugetsu is his student. Hingashi's corruption is not your problem, and the only reason you're running over to kill Ugetsu is because Musosai trained you to be Ugetsu's equal and you're fulfilling the old man's last request.

Rubicante is braindead easy. There's really only one mechanic where you can fail, but that happens when he's like 10% with current gear so it's fricking annoying if it happens. You will most likely skip the 2nd "difficult" mechanic with current gear
Golbez is really frustrating because 1 guy making a mistake in or right before the tower mechanic has a very high chance of wiping the group. It's the hardest EX in EW imo, but Barbie was pretty close when it was current.

FF14 has a lot of problems but dungeons are not one of them.
I like the variant/criterion dungeons, they wear their welcome out at about the point where I've got everything I wanted from them in terms of glamour rewards.

WoW raids have they own issues, like: terrible boss design, large amounts of trash, having to walk back after death, needing 20+ players to do a single raid, no revives outside of a few cds and other stuff. That is a matter of taste. I prefer the FFXIV system were you can play every job in the game, even if they are static and can't be changed. I find it way better than WoW's system were each characther is stuck with one class that has 1-2 viable specs, if you want to do group content.

Current Void MSQ isn't anything to write home about, but bearing in mind two things that 1) it's not finished yet and has room to end pretty satisfactorily + lead into Dawntrail, and 2) it's a very loose FF4 adaptation and FF4 kinda sucks. On the other end for Hiroi's work, he wrote BRD and BLM quests for HW and later, and he wrote the Pandaemonium raid that was really good.

Kinda hope the scout is Fusilier and the job quests involve Bangaa with guns. You could take the same concept and name it Corsair/Pirate/Buccanneer or whatever and get the same effect honestly but I mostly just wanna hang out with a funny lizard man
Ink/Picto/painter/Green mage/whatever as the caster. I highly doubt they're gonna do some monster control stuff with it, so I'm thinking Debuff/DoT mage.

Considering DRK's Dark Arts got recycled into Eukrasia for Sage, DRG's Heavy Thrust and DRK's Sole Survivor got recycled into Reaper, and Summoner/Scholar's DoT focus has been completely abandoned, I don't think it's impossible that there'll be a dedicated DoT job if they can put a dedicated class idea for it instead of cannibalizing a legacy job like Summoner as they did before.
That's kinda the thinking I had with my post. They just stripped the last of it out of Summoner so they might put it there instead for people who liked the playstyle. Plus 'paint' would imply that it probably ends up on the enemies rather than buffing allies with it or something, so that covers the debuffing.
I mean they *could* have you paint monsters into existence to keep with Relm and stuff but then what, it's just a rip-off of the summoner rework they just did?
I suppose that isn't unrealistic but I'd prefer it if they did another playstyle instead of trying to keep to some kind of non-existent tradition.

My guess is Corsair for the melee, and Oracle being given the Sage treatment (i.e. make an OC job but give an old FF name) for the caster.

They straight up said they wanted beastmaster as a limited job in the future.
But limited jobs are kinda moronic and BLU is just a glorified farm job, seems they kinda realized that as most people don't care about BLU and the new BLU content sucks ass.
They might've just decided to abandon limited jobs altogether during EW/late shadowbringers development
