WoW is a seasonal game where you will bust your ass against glorified slot machines putting up with tons of oneshot mechanics in the hopes of finally getting a piece of gear that will maybe increase your dps by 0.83% and most people are just buying boosts anyway since getting into a guild and doing content is an absolute nightmare equivalent to applying for a job, most will still suck, and you will spend a lot of your time reasoning that 98% of the game's content is completely irrelevant by design and will see things you will wish you could be doing that ultimately aren't relevant because they don't provide the drops that matter. MMO game full of fomo, you will see a lot of cool things that are full on impossible to obtain and much of the playerbase consists of people who are permanently hooked in because of how much old fomo content they have on their account that they want to show off to others

The game is in such a weird spot. I booted up the free version over the weekend after being away since Cataclysm, and aside from the age of the engine and gameplay, the game has been out for so long that you can literally be looking at 4 different quality models right next to each other from different eras of updates and expansions, so it has no unifying visual aesthetic anymore.
The game desperately needs a reboot/ WoW2 a la FFXIV.
