Why can't gacha game devs follow Genshin's format? Pretty characters and actual real time action gameplay.

Why can't gacha game devs follow Genshin's format? Pretty characters and actual real time action gameplay. I mean Genshin has been making the most money in the genre year after year, other gacha devs don't notice that? Why can't they put real manual action gameplay so people can get their money's worth on the characters they roll for. The ideal gacha game actually would be the typical rolling system but the combat and exploration are MH4U.

Genshin having actual gameplay is what makes normalgays confident in recommending it to their friends. The mainstream audience still wants to control the character, not just do the typical VNshit.

        Anonymous

But those normalfriends also complain the instant the gameplay requires thought, resulting in it being gutted to the point it's less engaging than even autobattlers like BA.

          Normalgays hate BA/VNs though.

What does that have to do with my post?
They want games to have "gameplay" like Genshin but if that gameplay actually requires you engage with it then they get mad and complain at the dev.
Genshin at this point is essentially a VN because of how brainless the gameplay is, it just pretends to be a game.
It's bad enough that doing challenge quests/high level raids in BA is legitimately more engaging than Genshin events or Abyss. That's all I'm saying, I have no clue how you twisted that into me saying they should play BA over Genshin.

Problem with Genshin is the characters are pretty but soulless to the extreme. Compare that to fgo with actual characters.

      lel now post the gameplay.
fgo has a few good designs but the majority are hot garbage, genshit also has some good designs and a lot of downright terrible ones but genshit is an actual game with hundreds of hours of boring ass content.

Fgo gameplay sucks but it’s just a vehicle for the good story vn. Granted I dislike what fgo’s success did to type moon but it’s got good stories still and you don’t have to actually spend any money for anything.

because paying some mid to high profile artist for one sprite and then making it bump other sprites automatically is way less effort?
genshins operation costs must be fricking massive, but nobody even thinks about that shit, or how some updates just fail to do well at all. it's far too late to take risks like this for any startup and if you got something else working, why bother?

Here's the problem homosexual, you'r epetty REAL GAMEPLAY on a fake game
yeah you can do some cool moves, maybe even combos but at the end of the day the ultimate goal is for you to slide your crust credit card into their greedy hands for another character
Who the frick would waste their time exploring a world with real gameplay when the story never actually ends and you're stuck doing the same shit over and over with some minor breaks so you can pay $5??

I'd rather log in, do my dailies that take 10 seconds, and log off to play some actual games
because I know the gacha game I have isn't trying to waste my time and we both know the ultimate goal is to roll for PNGs and Chibi models

I made some typos, but you get what I mean

Imagine logging into blue archive, and you have to run around a giant world opening random chests for +5 material that only matters if you craft, and even then the amount you need to actually craft something useful is so massive the entire process is just a net negative on your end
Imagine having to fight through 30 minutes of mobs, travel back to some hub for 3 skill books that are for the wrong character you need, only to do it again for a total of 3 hours of sitting on your ass grinding mobs like its some MMO

When you can just go to a mode, tap "Sweep x5" and get 5 times the material in under 5 minutes

      Actual true post.
At their core, gacha games are designed for being short distractions that feel rewarding.
For example, AGA has much more interactive gameplay than the barebones gameplay of genshin, much more generous but because it is incredibly time consuming and grindy nobody plays it.

        Anonymous

AGA is like a model kit ad. The gacha income is barely there so definitely no game is gonna follow that footstep. Definitely not a game to take into comparison. It's an outlier that's used as an example that action gacha are bad.

Character action games aren't always a good thing.
I play gacha games while doing other things, I can do this because most gacha games are low-effort games that can almost play themselves. I play a real game when I want real gameplay. If the gacha game is simple enough I may even play the gacha game while I'm playing the real game.

it's hard and expensive, the vast majority of Gacha's are sidescrolling/idle games, cheap, easy, proven to work.
Genshin also had the Covid Buff which no modern gacha is going to get, atleast until they try the disease x shit, a huge amount of people we're forced to stay inside which caused vidya to boom.
For all Mihoyo's flaws they know how to make good characters, you don't have to look very far to see how much of a shit people give about the character's in Genshin & HSR, there's boatloads of fanart be it porn or not, Genshin completely takes over every Animecon.
Easy comparison to make is to the era of the WoW clone/killer, how many mmo's came and went vying for WoW's crown and died by the roadside, Genshin has long since reached the point that the only way it dies is if Mihoyo themselves kill it, which they're doing a pretty good job of lately to be fair, Wuthering Waves will be the first real competition the game gets, there are other Gacha on the horizon too like Breakers unlock the world, Project Mugen, etc. remains to be seen if these will live up to the hype, but the age of the Genshin clones is coming.

Insane upkeep costs, production value, VA, I don't want to imagine what else they have to payroll constantly for shit to work and the worst part is, once you are done with the main content for the current patch it turns into a

Why do people bother with gacha games when you can just open up gelbooru and see 10x better quality art of all the characters?

More people are doing that recently because the game itself is losing popularity.

That's more because Genshin is being managed like shit and putting out generally mediocre or outright bad patches than anything.

they're bad patches because of the gameplay.
they just released a big new area. that should be exciting as hell. but it plays the exact same as liyue did three years ago because when mihoyo released dragonspine and inazuma casuals complained that the gameplay was too hard for them.
the gameplay exists so people can tell their friends 'hey check out this gacha it has real gameplay', it does not exist to actually be enjoyed.

Genshin's gameplay fricking sucks, even by gacha standards. If you're not cycling through skills and bursts you're just mindlessly mashing through walls of text or wandering through pretty yet boring areas to scrounge up primos.
