Why can't we just get a vita but more powerful?

it was the perfect balance of functionality, size, and portability. If some Chinese knockoff had a clone with comparable performance to a SteamDeck I'd 100% buy it

        >i thought he asked for more power
It's a lot more powerful. People have so meme'd the Switch into being this slow ass thing and the Vita as cutting edge device that they forgot the Vita is using an ARM chip that is like half a decade older and has like 1/8th the ram.

Like it can't run Borderlands 2 at a stable 30 at 540p and with shittier graphics and it has extreme pop in... Sony bundled this with new Vita's. Switch runs circles around the Vita.

That's much larger than a vita

        >That's much larger than a vita
Not by that much. Would I have liked the Switch Lite to be a little bit smaller, sure, I would have even taken a 5" screen.

switch lite would of been perfect if you didn't need to replace the joysticks and need to do very precise soldering just to jailbreak it.

What helped the vita get ports of 7th generation games in the first place was the fact that it had an extra separate 128mb of VIDEO memory. Nintendo should've taken that idea and added at least a 512mb VRAM chip into the switch.

Would be cool to see another handheld by Sony, I've got a soft spot for the psp and vita. Though they'd probably find some way to frick it up with some shit like proprietary memory cards.

      >Would be cool to see another handheld by Sony, I've got a soft spot for the psp and vita.
The problem is that they skipped a generation so they are competing against Deck and a most likely backwards compatible Switch with no games. What they should have done was in 2018ish released a 5.5" screen Vita successor with a slightly more powerful Nvidia ARM chip with near identical architecture, ported a bunch of PS3/PS4 games to it and hoovered up all the 3rd party ports / indie games the Switch was getting because basically all it would take to make it run was switching the icons from BAYX to XO/[ ]. Maybe have some cross buy stuff / bundle stuff with digital games too.
They'd be in a much better position to make a current gen handheld now if they didn't freak out about their failure with the Vita and skip the last gen.
      >Though they'd probably find some way to frick it up with some shit like proprietary memory cards.
Like realize they missed out on the handheld space and release a lazy, expensive home streaming device that turns their PS5 into a Wii U.

problem with smart phones is that controllers suck ass and cost a fortune (at least the backbone and kishi do)

The Vita was a lot weaker than I remember. Catherine fricking chugs and almost never hits 20 during the puzzles stages unless you overclock the system.

This just proves that vita is the king of handhelds.
THough any tips on pirating and running vita games?
I got SD2V mod for mine but id like to play my phisical games and just pirate others.
And r/vitapiracy on breddit is just people askiing about modding instead of piracy last time I checked.

it's highly not-recommended to be removing the SD2Vita cartridge after you mod the handheld, so you should pirate the games you own as well and put them on that card.

bust tip is to google Vita games on archive.org, and add those direct links to a download manager (Jdownloader2 is great) and when you have those, all you do is place them onto the card in the app folder (you have to change the settings on your PC to view system hidden files) extract your downloaded games and put them in that folder, and then before you leave the file manager you choose the refresh live area option, and when that gets done the games just appear on your home menu. they play without a hitch.

I've thinking about a Retroid Pocket 3+, it's slightly smaller than the Vita and the sticks are inset. Besides good emulation of the PSP library Android has actually got some good controller capable games/ports, things like SoR4, CrossCode, Bloodstained and Dead Cells. There are also lots of fan ports, I heard Hollow Knight, Cuphead, TMNT and Sonic Mania all have completed fan ports. Also piracy isn't that hard.

Here is like a hundred of them for a start(a few IOS exclusives in there)

I will never understand your homosexuals wanting a portable gaming device with a smaller screen. 10% of you homosexuals that actually bring these things outside your home to begin with so there is not excuse about b***hing about the device actually being portable. Just stop being contrarian morons and buy a Steam Deck.

I don't even want a new dedicated handheld from Sony. I would really love to have a retro Sony handheld built only for playing PS1 and PS2 games with robust display and accessory options built in.
I wouldn't even mind if they slapped the ROMs and sold them on cartridges if it meant that the games would be completely compatible, and provided access to every version of the game.
