I even liked Chloe, but the decision was obvious, and even Chloe knows it. Yeah that sucks. I have seen some people mention that the game should have had a hidden tornado meter. So how much you abuse your powers, determines the size of the tornado.
Only use your powers when you have to. The tornado doesn't happen or is so small it doesn't kill anyone. Absolutely abuse your powers, the tornado is so big that it kills Max and Chloe in the lighthouse, before Max would even have a chance to reverse the decision giving you the worst ending. Off course to balance this, they should make it possible to not rewind in many parts, but have consequences for it. For example you could give Kate's book back stained, but then it makes it much harder to convince her to not jump.
I don't think min maxing would work in a game like this. Coming right off BG3 it feels weird that there are no downsides to abusing your power (the fricking main theme if the game), while in LiS it's all just emotional pay off (even if the game tries to guilt trip you at the end for trying to be a good person).
I guess the game should've railroaded you towards one end based on your previos decisions but I feel like having a big one at the end is more impactful.
Choices did matter the game, just not for the endings. When the ending comes around, I'm done with the game anyway so I don't even care anymore. I'd rather have choices that have consequences while I'm playing than some meaningless cutscene at the end.

I never once felt compelled to play the sequels, but I did play Stange Colours because I heard it was an entirely different team and cast and I had to see just how bad it was for my self, and it sucked but the alt-rock drummer girl was cute.

I got this game on sale along with the third one (with the Asian chick). All I know about the game is that at the end you can choose the girl or the town. Since I havent played it and can refund it, is the actual story from start to finish worth experiencing even if I know I'm going to save my lesbian?
