People always talk about how bad the script in engage is but the script isn't bad at all in japanese, clanne and framme talk normally and lumera isnt stilted as frick. I also didn't realize how formal vander was talking.
The english voice acting also leaves a lot to be desired since the twins are super obnoxious for being the first characters you meet in english.
Presentation and char design could have been tolerated by 3Hbabs and normalgays if the localization wasn't shit, and they wouldn't realize that the narrative was bad until much later when they'd already had a good taste of the gameplay.
