that guy already told you that you're clueless and you insist. 1.0 failed because it was fricking unplayable. Areas wouldn't support large populations. Menus wouldn't load for minutes each time. Skills wouldn't even work. There was no content either, the game was unfinished. The whole fricking game was subcontracted to some chinese devs and rushed for release and they couldn't fix it. They had to switch assets to a different engine and hired multiple teams to churn content 24/7. And STILL through the alpha there were huge threads on the lodestone with people complaining the game was not ffxi-like enough.

I played since 1.0 launch. All it had at launch was levequests and the main story quest stopping at level 20. Combined with the shit latency, that’s why it flopped.
Then a month after launch is when Yoshi-P took over and they started work on updating it to test out features to implement for ARR.
The only enjoyment I had with 1.0 launch was getting all the aetherial nodes tucked away past level 80 mobs.

This was my first big NM camp and he went on and on about how many hours it would take but how the hairpin was an investment I'd use for 80% of the game. This but NIN. Literally only useful when your team is already winning. As fluffy as they Limit is, it feels bad being so incredibly weak otherwise. In addition the fact that your second strongest attack is tied to being in stealth and every little shit gets you out of it doesn't help.
NIN is a stun machine with crazy mobility and the ability to shot tanks. I basically just annihilated everyone with it on my way to the top rank.
It's one of the strongest PvP jobs in CC.

NIN is one of the strongest jobs in pvp. Their utility is insane and they are alot tankier than they have any right to be. They also have a fast charging instant kill lb.

We need to see more change in the values people have, and we need to consider for Final Fantasy XIV how we push forward in-game and how we represent it.

Character customization? Literally the only way to meaningfully customize your character is materia, and that accounts for like 3% of your character, what the frick are you talking about? No talents and literally no gear to choose because it's just ilvl, the customization in FFXIV is completely meaningless. When I played other games, gearing up was exciting and I loved to get new gear with new effects, in FFXIV it's like "oh, +3 ilvl, great lol".

FFXIV is the most bizarre game in this sense, 99% of the content is so easy even a dog could beat it, and then 1% of the content is hard as balls and require ungodly coordination between 10 complete autists.
I played for 600 hours and I think I had like 50 hours of fun in those hours, I still don't know why I played the game. The atmosphere and OST was nice, maybe that was it. The game was so easy sometimes I just fell asleep while playing it lmao.

It doesn't, honestly. But every time news comes out about WoW it's always about how poorly the game is doing and how much Blizzard is literally burning down. Because of that they tend to feel inadequate and have to shitfling at other games in some autistic attempt to try and make WoW look better. Baiting and trolling aside. The game plays like WoW from Wish. Everything is so slow and clunky, and the delay sometimes. I don't know about the story but the first 30 hours I had with this game was extremely boring. Everyone looks the same, everyone has a name I can't remember. Funny names for things. I don't know, I really wanted to play this game but "it gets better after 200 hours" is a dealbreaker for me.

It is 100% correct though. Both WoW's netcode and general physics/fluidity are unmatched in the MMO space.
You can live with FFXIV's engine, it is serviceable once you get used to it, but it doesn't come close to WoW's, which is surprising to me considering XIV doesn't have a proper 3d physics engine so I don't know what the frick they're even running under the hood.
Compare interrupting a spell in WoW vs interrupting a spell in XIV, I am sure you have pressed your interrupt button in XIV but the spell still went off because you pressed it like 80% into the castbar. This never happens in WoW, try playing XIV's PvP and you'll see the shortcomings of the netcode every single game.
Also when I say "physics engine" think about the following: XIV has no moving actors with collision, or actually it has one kind, the elevators Copperbell mines, and notice how it's impossible to interact with them, you're locked in a box so that you can't interact with anything that would give away the lack of physics. Another example is the knockback mechanic, knockbacks in XIV are essentially a teleport, whereas in WoW your character is affected by forces and momentum.

Some skills have early snapshot. TOP is a nasty offender with every enrage snapshotting at like 90% of the cast bar and getting locked at 0.1%. Other than early snapshots it sounds like a ping issue.

Finally have all jobs at 90 and did the final role quest. Watching Iron Nero fight gave me the idea of a casting tank or melee dps. All of his attacks have a .5-1 second delay on their windup. With the pvp rework showing Bard and Machinist being capable of casting while moving makes me believe they'll try something new like that in the future.
Probably won't happen given the inflexible nature of both devs and players.

That's because there's literally no reason to take a party into a deep dungeon moron. At most you finish the story aspect or run it with friends, aside from that it's content for solo players. DPS queues in XIV take fricking minutes whereas in WoW you're lucky to get in to a dungeon within a half hour. That is FAR more telling.

I've seen a lot of long-time FFXIV players get fed up and leave the game. I'm talking folks from the ARR-HW era and even Stormblood. The only ones huffing high on copium tend to be Shadowbabs and the Endwalker newbies but even then I've seen a lot peel off. The contingent of WoWfugees I know of have long since fallen off and gone back to WoW or whatever the frick else it is they do.

I gave my own accounts of the game I've been playing since 1.0 and the current mood around the large social group I'm involved in which is pretty big on Light and I get this tripe. I played since 1.0 launch. All it had at launch was levequests and the main story quest stopping at level 20. Combined with the shit latency, that’s why it flopped.
Then a month after launch is when Yoshi-P took over and they started work on updating it to test out features to implement for ARR.
The only enjoyment I had with 1.0 launch was getting all the aetherial nodes tucked away past level 80 mobs.
Next level fricking cope. If 1.0 had been suitably profitable they wouldn't have burned it down and tanked their image as a result, simple as.

Character customization? Literally the only way to meaningfully customize your character is materia, and that accounts for like 3% of your character, what the frick are you talking about? No talents and literally no gear to choose because it's just ilvl, the customization in FFXIV is completely meaningless. When I played other games, gearing up was exciting and I loved to get new gear with new effects, in FFXIV it's like "oh, +3 ilvl, great lol".

You can live with FFXIV's engine, it is serviceable once you get used to it, but it doesn't come close to WoW's, which is surprising to me considering XIV doesn't have a proper 3d physics engine so I don't know what the frick they're even running under the hood.
Compare interrupting a spell in WoW vs interrupting a spell in XIV, I am sure you have pressed your interrupt button in XIV but the spell still went off because you pressed it like 80% into the castbar. This never happens in WoW, try playing XIV's PvP and you'll see the shortcomings of the netcode every single game.
Also when I say "physics engine" think about the following: XIV has no moving actors with collision, or actually it has one kind, the elevators Copperbell mines, and notice how it's impossible to interact with them, you're locked in a box so that you can't interact with anything that would give away the lack of physics. Another example is the knockback mechanic, knockbacks in XIV are essentially a teleport, whereas in WoW your character is affected by forces and momentum.

Finally have all jobs at 90 and did the final role quest. Watching Iron Nero fight gave me the idea of a casting tank or melee dps. All of his attacks have a .5-1 second delay on their windup. With the pvp rework showing Bard and Machinist being capable of casting while moving makes me believe they'll try something new like that in the future.
Probably won't happen given the inflexible nature of both devs and players.

I've seen a lot of long-time FFXIV players get fed up and leave the game. I'm talking folks from the ARR-HW era and even Stormblood. The only ones huffing high on copium tend to be Shadowbabs and the Endwalker newbies but even then I've seen a lot peel off. The contingent of WoWfugees I know of have long since fallen off and gone back to WoW or whatever the frick else it is they do.
The game was growing before WoW players and their subhuman streamers jumped on the bandwagon. It doesn't need them and never did.

every thread on this board is like that, almost every thread has troony word being said or spammed it's tiresome
Now do a search for "WoW" and you'll understand why people are calling it a "troony game".
Still of the belief it's the combination of Modding and Yoshi eventually leaving to work on XVI in turn making Endwalker flop are big contributions to why the game is a shell of what it use to be.
Could also be that the magic just wore off by then. Use to play every single day since 1.0 even when the game was at its absolute worse from a design PoV but ever since Endwalker and the first raid tier+ I've just lost all motivation to play. Ended up getting a housing demo warning because I hadn't logged in for long. I want to enjoy the game but whatever spark it had just isn't there anymore.
Euros and other third worlders make really shitty ffxiv threads.
