QTE-ish gimmick became boring as soon as you got the timing down.
His design also just didn't mesh very well with the rest of the gameplay.

I was tempted to get the doom eternal deluxe on discount but then i remembered the game is basically an arena shooter with jumpy bits in between.

It just ruins the pace of the gameplay with his red light green light bullshit. If there is an enemy on the screen in a shooter I should not be punished for shooting him.
I think that eternal fanboys miss the point that marauder isn't hard he's just icky to fight. Didn't like gameplay loop change from 2006 anyway and marauder was just a cherry on top.
