PLA sold 15 million
Sold less than every mainline first first version, including Flopnova
>Flopped in design publicity
>Flopped in Cultural Impact
I'll ask again:
Why did it flop?
it didn't
>Muh botted ratings!
Flopped.
Nope. It's a mainline game according the Gamefreak.
That's like saying metal gear rising flopped because it didn't sell as much as the mgs games. It's a spinoff with different gameplay from the rest of the series. I don't care to look the numbers but I'm sure it was more popular than Snap and the stadium games at least
Pokemon spin-off
Sales 15 million on a single system
>it flopped!!!
LMFAOO what a schzio.
How many times must you be told that it's LITERALLY a mainline game and full-priced. Stop shilling this game. It's why the Palchad won.
i know you're doing some ironic shitposting, but palworld costs half as much and sold half as much
Palworld won anyways. It will be at 18 million sales in no time and all you can do is cope about it. Right now its height is far more culturally relevant than people making fun of lord Palkia's arms.
>twitch views
Holy frick can you be any more mentally ill? You'll be posting google trends next lmao get off the internet and have sex troon.
Well which metrics do you prefer?
sales
le new game habth le more viewers???
I don't care about the argument you're having with Anon, but there's something that really bothers me about your reply there;
>but palworld costs half as much and sold half as much
why the frick are so many of you Black folk focused so hard on this when it's an early access game being released in early access, this is such a weird thing to use these numbers, especially considering the numbers are constantly changing because, wait for it, it released (in early access) less than a week ago
you fricking zoomers and your wannabe obsession with numbers (I don't care which side of the fence you're in and which side you're defending, by the way) is really pathetic
that's all I have to say, now have a good one, I'm going to play some video games
>Flopped in Cultural Impact
Pokemania is long over, anon. It had a brief resurgence when Pokemon GO came out, but it's mostly fizzled away by now. Of course, Pokemon is/was a global phenomenon and a mainstay in pop culture. It will probably never lose relevancy.
15 million units isn't a flop btw. That's a success story.
>Pokemon GO
>Pokemon TCG
>Pokemon Infinite Fusion
>mainline games
Moron.
Wrong, moron.
It's the biggest selling single release in the franchise, even outselling Pokemon Yellow.
You're comparing the sales of one game versus the sales of two game versions. Plenty of consoomers bought both Sword and Shield yet it's still counted as one game. PLA is how much Pokemon games would actually sell without the double version scam.
Anon I know you failed algebra but 2 is a bigger number than 1, so since its just 1 game it sold less.
>pokegays champion legends as “the game where gamefreak actually tried”
>palworld comes out
>in a week, has rapidly approached legends’ sales
>is selling faster in its first week than legends did
>pokegays backpedal and pretend they never actually liked legends
kek, pokegays are also salesgays, no big surprise.
That sales autist has been attacking Legends long before Palworld's release newbie.
PLA is excellent. Palworld is half the price and available to the third world.
Nooo my narrative!
It sold 6.5 million in the first week. Palworld has sold over 7 million and it hasn't even been a week yet. I bet that Palworld outsells it by EOY
Gamefreak was too cowardly to fully commit to the idea of embracing something new to the series and halfassed it, same as they always do.
It didn't flop stop making these threads you subhuman
I bought both. I liked PLA for taking Pokemon in a new direction and Palworld just took it further. Maybe TPC will be motivated to try harder now, but even if they don't I'm looking forward to future Palworld content and mods.
Unpopular opinion here: but legends Arceus was one of the better, recent pokemon games. It had its problems, but it tried enough new stuff to make it fun and kept enough familiar aspects where it still felt like a pokemon game.
>ditched the gym badge/elite four that's in almost every mainline pokemon game
>improved and made the catching mechanics fun(not sure why they didn't do this with SV)
>kept the rock/paper/scissors battle gameplay
>story was waaaay more interesting to follow than just "stop the generic evil organization from taking over the world while on your way to being best trainer in the world"
>no gimmick battle mechanics like "terraforms, giga-maxing, megaevolutions, etc"
The open world and travel mechanics were pretty bland, but I was ultimately way more engaged playing through legends arceus than I ever was playing SV or the straight up remakes on switch like BDSP or Let's go.
>improved and made the catching mechanics fun(not sure why they didn't do this with SV)
Because both games were being done at the same time by different teams.
>Legends Arceus was one of the better, recent pokemon games.
It is, but it still just the equivalent to an early prototype for Palworld. GameFreak tried, but they weren't given enough time, money and experienced personnel.
I have to agree. PLA shits on the mainline formula when it comes to showcasing pokemon actually existing and encountering them. It also fixed shinys being only for autists, which is probably the best part of the endgame. Hearing that sparkle sound is a hell of a dopamine hit. They would be complete morons to not go all in on a sequel, specially now.
Arceus is easily the best pokemon game since the 3ds, arguably since the ds. I could run around catching pokemon in it for hours. Heres hoping for legends Celebi in a few years
It was really fun, but it had some serious flaws. The battle system was ass for anything other than wild Pokémon and horribly unbalanced. The usual battle system is just too good, and as far as gimmicks go, Terastalizing is possibly the most fun. Crafting just made getting items a clunky affair. I love the catching mechanics and going into SV I missed them, but on the other hand, it's a bit too trivial. Like you're getting mountains of Pokemon and you barely have to care about anything. I get weirded out going back to PLA, too. Both PLA and SV got decent stories (I like SV's more), and that makes me quite hopeful for the future, especially after the disaster that was SwSh. SV also iterated on PLA with the autobattling stuff, and I think it would be nice if sending your Pokémon out on their own became a more important/useful mechanic in the future.
In the end I liked SV more than PLA. Exploration was more fun due to its non-linear nature and it proved that the traditional formula can still be fun, if presented a little bit differently. Just a shame they didn't spend any time at all making a decent engine that didn't run like dogshit. More experimental games like PLA will still be welcome, of course.
I see where you're coming from, but I felt the opposite. I really struggled to get into SV because I liked PLE so much
>The usual battle system is just too good
I know arceus is a step down, but I honestly never really cared that much about the pokemon battle system. There are more well rounded jrpgs I will play if I want that itch scratched.
>I love the catching mechanics and going into SV I missed them, but on the other hand, it's a bit too trivial.
I get what you mean, I dont know how you balance the legends catching mechanics with a mainline game's format, but because i was used to it, catching pokemon in SV felt like the ultimate tedium, especially since the appeared on the overworld and it looked so similar to arceus. To be honest I dropped Scarlet abotu 5 hours in since it wasnt really hooking me, but hearing such a glowing endorsement from someone who does like Arceus makes me feel like giving it another chance.
The PLA battle system may not be balanced for player vs player, but it's perfectly fine vs NPCs. The normal Pokemon battle system of using Calm Mind five times and then sweeping the entire enemy team is very lame vs NPCs.
I enjoyed this game WAY more than Scarlet/Violet
It felt like a proper evolution of the series, the next real step forward
Then they regressed when they released Scarlet/Violet, what a fricking shame.
Actually really liked Legends and felt it was going in the right direction. Needs towns, a more complex battle system, and to not look like a steaming turd but it’s the best Pokémon has been in years. Then they just dropped it and did nothing else with it. I swear TPCi is fricking moronic.
>Go catch tons of shitmon from the starter area
No, go process my refund. There's reasons the formula worked, and this ain't it.
So is PLA battle system the same as normal Pokemon? Might actually buy it.
It's very similar with some minor changes
My only real complaint is that battles can be too easy
No, it's stripped down. No held items, the move pool is cut in half, and 95% of battles are just against wild mons. PLA is basically just catch em all the game, not a battler.
it's the same but it has a turn order based on speed
like the other anons said, the battling is about the same and much less frequent, unless you choose to battle wild pokemon for shits and giggles. The game really shines in the catching mechanics, its actually fun to just throw pokeballs
It's a dumbed down version of RBY's battle system. Absolutely awful battle system, only reason why people don't shit on it that much is because there's barely even any battles in the game for it to actually matter.
It’s not my job to catalog every individual habitual shitposter on this moronic board you fricking homosexual.
Wait, the professor didn't give you a shitposterdex?
literal beta test for a handful of features
pokegays and tendietrannies are okay with consooooming slop if it has "dogshittendo" logo on the game case
fricking hypocrites
They should have made the Pokemon battles happen in realtime too instead of making the trainer throw trashbags at enraged pokes all alone.
hey, do you have a torrent for this game? i only found torrents for the newer ones
EVERYONE that shits on Palworld but praises PLA deserves to be shot. They're literally the exact same game, except that PLA is the one that looks like it's on early access instead
This game is supremely boring and I don't get what people saw in it.
>Oh boy catch 30 bidoofs to progress!
Yawn. Not even really open world either.
I like how catching feels in arceus, its fun to sneak behind pokemon and get them, or snipe them with the flying balls. Plus catching 30 bidoofs takes about as long as battling, weakening, and and catching like 5 pokemon in a regular game.
Kids love tedious grinds now for some reason.
I found arceus less grindy than a regular pokemon game though. The levels of your team go up just by running around and tossing some balls
And regular pokemon sold 5 million more copies so my point is clear, the more tedious the better. Survival crafting games are the most tedious of all so they're the most popular.
It's automatically more grindy than regular pokeshit because in PLA you HAVE to toss balls around. In regular pokemon, you're actually allowed to use strategy to beat the games without requiring any sort of grinding, just rush
