It didn't flop. But it didn't really catch on the way Blizzard hoped it would. I think the truth we have to face is that: yes, the 19 year old game is superior to retail, but it's not a good enough to shake the world again like it did back in 2004-2007.
I think Blizzard needs to offer WoW Classic as a seasonal service. But take the risk and build off the bones of Vanilla WoW and go crazy with the changes. SoD is a step in the right direction but they need to go even further. I think they should update the graphics to the way look in retail. Not sorry.
The problem with this is that they will just turn it into retail if they begin making substantial changes. The Blizzard of the 90s and early 2000s is long long gone and never coming back. Appreciate classic for what it is but stop trying to bring it forward into the future because it will just turn into liquid shit like everything modern Blizzard touches.
It already is a poor man's retail. Same as "Classic" Wrath with all the changes they made
At this point I just want them to give me TBC era and then leave it alone
The problem is that there are no thought behind the changes, they are just adding whatever they think is cool. Need more significant changes too, not just some shitty runes
probably because sod has no token or cash shop yet, even if it is their most active version of wow currently
their dev teams have no talent and their senior staff are all check collecting layabouts that sit on twitter for their whole shift
I'm not sure why anyone thinks Blizzard is capable of doing something interesting or fun, it's the SAME PEOPLE who took retail on a wild ride into the gutter, they aren't going to magically wake up one day and know how to make a good game.
What are you trying to say, do you really think Blizzard expected a re-release of Classic with some minor ability changes to have the same impact on the industry as the original launch of WoW? Why do they need a graphical overhaul when SoD is just to get casuals subscribing with a minimal amount of effort?
Well I'd imagine that Blizzard wants every game they release to be a success. SoD has been hyped up since Blizzcon and it's got some traction but it's not really the product everyone hoped it would be. Interesting for a week and then easily forgotten about.
>build off the bones of Vanilla WoW and go crazy with the changes.
The problem is that modern Blizzard is incapable of doing that. They can barely make their small changes work.
Because actual classicgays wanted actual classic+, not "classic with retail abilities."
They could have done some class balancing and added some new dungeons, reps, and raids without overhauling the entire fricking game. Rogue tanks? Seriously?
They copied Acension WoW but made 1/20th as much new content, all their new content is terrible in comparison, while charging more money (than a p2w private server no less), having 0 moderation against bots or RMTers that have consistently ruined every Classic iteration, and Blizzard is still shit.
>dude what if we put wotlk and retail specs into vanilla wow but changed nothing else except turning a leveling dungeon into a raid to force parsetroony autism into the leveling experience of vanilla
idk its a mystery
project epoch can't come fast enough
>log in >put on your divine storm and art of war runes so you're playing wotlk ret >walk past 500 hunters with boar pets named chingchong >buy pots and enchants so you can get an orange parse in gnomeregan >go to stv and kill trade in the graveyard for your lvl 40 epic weapon >hearth to stormwind, your chat is immediately flooded with "hello dear friend . please to be buying summon for only 1 golds . thanx dear friend ." and "TAILOR/ENCHANT WITH ALL PATTERNS LFW FREE WITH YOUR MATS TIPS APPRECIATED!!" and "lfm fresh bfd pst with your spec and come to trade bank for inspection" nonstop >log out and do it again in 5 days
vanilla... home.. soul....
they couldnt do better than private servers.
they didn't make retail f2p
Forcing retail spells into Classic and balance autism before max level
Also the "events" like Ashenvale and STV were a flop
What exactly is bad about stv? 5 man FFA deathballs with your buds sounds extremely comfy.
Oh right, anons don't have friends.
Spawn killing at the graveyard over and over again, wow so fun
> what if we put in less work than a private server and tried to charge monthly for it.
yeh no thanks, i havent played wow in 4 years and i saw this shit on the wall.

Also I just want to add that their #1 advertisement (Asmongold) doesn't even play the any version of the game anymore.
>I think they should update the graphics to the way look in retail
I think you should have a nice day, twitchBlack person.

I would love to say that you're wrong and it's impossible to make the same mistakes twice. But Blizzard did add the WoW token to Classic.
The problem is that there are no thought behind the changes, they are just adding whatever they think is cool. Need more significant changes too, not just some shitty runes
yes that's a byproduct of said changes being made by 2024 blizzard, because 99% of their staff aren't even capable of thinking
Well thats probably a part of it, but their team is pitifully small. I've heard that they have two programmers, there is only so much they can do
probably because sod has no token or cash shop yet, even if it is their most active version of wow currently

nostalgia can only last so long
You think you do but you dont

Sounds like shit
seasons are too fast. need to be every 6 months
This, blizzard is making the same mistake they always make with WoW by appealing to the hardcore crowd over the casual.
blizzard can't do anything right these days, it's a dead company.
gold buyers and sellers.
gdkp
tryharding at level 25.
homosexual game.
ffxiv crossover event unironically
Classic WoW fricking blows.
It flopped?
lvl 25 phase was way too fricking long
everyone i know lost interest 3 weeks ago, and now they are playing other shit and wont come back
