Because it pales in comparison to HGSS, the peak of the franchise, and also decided to throw out 4 gens of progress to do a soft reboot that was too scared to actually be a soft reboot, instead just locking you out of all the good designs until the postgame.
If it was an actual reboot it wouldn't have shoved gen 1-4 mons into the postgame and it wouldn't have just made the villains diet team rocket. Speaking of, it also wouldn't have made this the homeland of the rocket from Gen 2 in cerulean, it would have cut itself off from the previous gens entirely.

Because they're irrelevant, it's still the superior game. Whatever non-problem shit you're gonna whine about is irrelevant in the context of the quality of the games. >terrible trainer teams
Universal problem across the entire franchise. None of the games were ever hard, and if you think they were then you're a genuine low-IQ moron who can't win a game of rock-paper-scissors. >mon selection for teambuilding
It's got a fine selection, better than anything that came before or after other than, of course, HGSS which only added to the already excellently curated dex. Also if you're one of those homosexuals who thinks the betamons are better, have a nice day for the good of everyone you hipster homosexual. >awful plot
Universal problem with pokemon, and Gen 5's "plot" is way, way worse. Gen 2's actually makes sense because it's a sequel to gen 1 where the remnants of Team Rocket are trying to revive their organization and bring their boss back, which is made even better in HGSS with the Spiky Eared Pichu event.

Realistically because how much different it was from the games released before because of muh ice cream and trashbag designs and because pokemon kinda died back then no one in my school liked it in my school everyone had grown up and matured mentally (except me lol) and none of them wanted to play toddler games anymore
I was underwhelmed by HGSS and lost my DS, so I wasn't following Pokemon at the time of its release
I was told about it and insisted that I give it a shot, so I looked at the dex to plan my team, and sneakingly found myself struggling to compose one I'd like
then I get to playing it and it's just one drag after another; it got to the point where I didn't even want to finish it, so I was setting it down and not touching it now and then; though I did eventually finish it
it was hard to put into words exactly why I disdained the experience of playing BW so much at the time, and I'm sure millions of other people felt the same way, if they were even aware it existed at the time (which I wasn't until, again, somebody told me)
but BW was just ugly and tedious compared to past Pokemon games; that's why it flopped
No, millions didn't, autistic man children who couldn't handle the graphics update, and couldn't understand it was a gen 1 rehash expected either a fricking gen 4 remake this early on or another gen 3. BW came and went at a perfect time and had it released anywhere else chronologically you MIGHT have a SMALL argument to claim.
>No, millions didn't
lowest selling games >autistic man children who couldn't handle the graphics update
I also skipped out on New Leaf because of the stupid body elongation
but I was a teenager at the times >couldn't understand it was a gen 1 rehash
I don't believe most people even cared one way or the other back then; they just looked at the dex and found themselves not liking much >expected either a fricking gen 4 remake
? where do you get that from >BW came and went at a perfect time
pfft, what makes you say that? >had it released anywhere else chronologically you MIGHT have a SMALL argument to claim
I have no idea what this time argument is about
if you swapped Gen VI and Gen V, XY would have performed better
Gen V's release period had nothing to do with its failure
you unovabortions do realize RBY came out at the "end of the system's lifespan" too, right?
If you have to redefine what the word "game" means to have a point then you really don't have one.
Only in the pokemon fanbase this is accepted as normal behavior.

Gen 1 didn't stop you every five seconds to make you listen to npcs ramble on about shit you don't care about. >BW came and went at a perfect time and had it released anywhere else chronologically you MIGHT have a SMALL argument to claim.
It released right after the best games in the franchise, HGSS, and had to live up to them. It failed, miserably. and was the sharp drop off a steep cliff that started the decline of the franchise.

If anything I'm shocked unovabortions aren't more optimistic about the remakes considering the dogma among them than Gen V is Masuda's baby
And surely he must know at this point how cornered the zoomer market is on that region thanks to it being their childhood games
They'd have to be truly moronic to not be planning to go all-out with the remakes as we speak, all things considered
Sanest post
I honestly believe they made the gen 4 remakes shit just so the gen 5 ones would be that much better, plus it’ll pander to the masudagays here on /vp/ who will undoubtedly be smug about it all. Me personally, I don’t care, I just want to play a new pokemon game that’s not shit.
True, zoomers are justified to defend their nostalgia goggles like a Flygon mega evolution but we’re concerned for the older fans that will still be fighting the natdex and adding nitpicks to their dumpster fire. And then there’s the canpaign pardon our françois Shitters who only care who the champion is.
>zoomers are justified to defend their nostalgia goggles like a Flygon mega evolution
Nostalgia is a cancer upon society, and the sooner we kill the concept off as a species the sooner we can finally advance forward. >we’re concerned for the older fans that will still be fighting the natdex and adding nitpicks to their dumpster fire
Natdex is a non-issue since at least 90% of the natdex is shitmon filler anyway, I give zero fricks about sentret or ratatta coming back, in fact if I were to make my own dex it wouldn't be more than around 200 pokemon at most.

It's very interesting that if you look at the 30th place, BW ranks third highest after Kanto and Galar.
This is despite having the largest Dex, which should be lowering that number.
What that means is that BW actually has a very consistent Dex, possibly with lower peaks.
I don't even care to talk about some kind of dickwaving contest between regions here, that's just something I took note of last time I saw this posted (Yesterday)
Because Pokegays are fickle morons. BW's decison to only have new pokemon was obvious made to avoid "Expansion-Pack Syndrome" that Johto's Dex is hated for. Yet no one appreciated it.
I’m tired of XY taking all the heat for the downfall of the franchise just for being in 3D. These games were the first to show me every pokemon’s ass in full display as if I was asking for it. One thing I will say though is the inhaler-like sound effect whem selecting moves on the DS sounds futuristic as hell.
>economically
It literally didn't. >culturally
A mix of nostalgiagays outweighing fans and newer( fans (i hope) getting a revisionist reading from an era they weren't into the franchise.
Because the 3DS was already out by the time BW released outside of Japan, so only diehard fans were in a position to care about the game because it was now "old news for an old handheld". More casual Pokemon consumers were waiting for the 3DS entries, driven by interest in if Pokemon would finally make the leap to 3D now that there was a platform powerful enough for something that'd allow the 3D to look good.
This is also why normalgays who were kids during Pokemania but subsequently bailed from Pokemon as soon as it stopped being popular crawled out of the woodworks to start shitting on the current state of the franchise, because now it was a "franchise for the weirdos we had fun bullying to keep our own reputations intact."
Because it pales in comparison to HGSS, the peak of the franchise, and also decided to throw out 4 gens of progress to do a soft reboot that was too scared to actually be a soft reboot, instead just locking you out of all the good designs until the postgame.

ill be honest bw just sucks
only reason i defend gen 5 is strictly because of b2w2 where the game is improved in every way
