This is better than stock if there are no ememy engineers , but with them you basically have to depend on if your teammates have more than two synapses in their brain and actually shoot down the sentries , but in casual that's rare
Just charge shot the sentry and gun in down with the shotgun, if the engie is still there, you still win a shotgun duel

Whenever I use this thing it doesn't do any damage.
Just hold M2 down choke points, win game. This and the phlog and removing all cosmetics to the default created the most ass-hurt and rage-quits ever. I have never been cursed at so much before in my life.
I love using this thing defending the last point on mercenary park. You can rocket jump onto a girder above the point where no one sees you and just spam charge shots and watch everyone running around below you it's comfy.

It can. It just does mini crits instead of normal crits. Not as useful but still ok.

Demoman is better for destroying buildings anyway, and Cow Mangler can disable buildings which is still useful.

It's not really about relying on them, it's more like this:
If you play two games of soldier otherwise 100% identically, you will just get more kills and do more damage in the game where you use the stock rocket launcher than in the game where you use the cow mangler.

It just causes confusion. I don't want a kritz medic to kritz me when I'm using the cow mangler but it seems to happen pretty often. Skill issue on their part I guess.

That doesn't mean you should just give up your ability to destroy buildings.

I've disabled sentries to allow friendly heavies/pyros to go in and take them down and it works sometimes. I've also had teammates walk into a disabled sentry's range not knowing it's there and then die when it turns back on. But most of the time when I disable a building nothing really happens.
