Because it used to be more of an easter egg sort of thing in a lot of games that people just knew to look for using camera angles or what not. Then when lets players and streamers got popular they discovered that showing off fanservice in games was a low hanging fruit for views. This exposed this sort of content to a larger audience than the games had themselves and in that audience lies the some of the types to get offended by fanservice and vocally deride the game online.
