Why did people fellate this game so hard a few years ago like it was the second coming of Jesus?

Why did people fellate this game so hard a few years ago like it was the second coming of Jesus? What makes it different from all of the other isometric rouge-lites? Is it because it has a bunch of "quirky" dialogue you can hear between each run?

v really liked the game during its earlier, pre-popularity days, because it played smooth and fluid, had great boons and cool fights
the game only got better but it became mainstream levels of popularity so naturally Ganker is obliged to hate it
      >but what about normalgays?
in which case is right. normalgays will fall for anything like that, hades has high quality but its not the reason its aped so much

Paid shills. The game is pretty boring after like 10 minutes of playing and, like most other roguelites, it uses heavy metaprogression to pad an otherwise short and shallow game

How do you honestly not get bored from grinding the same four stages a million times?

It really is just all of the "quirky" dialogue.

Its fun, and its fun concept for a greek mythology game.
Iunno why people would like it so much the. Iunno what it's different cause i don't usually play roguesukes. Iunno what quirky dialogue you're talking about, besides, iunno ig the Medusa head and the skeleton everyone talks okay

I liked coming home and seeing what's changed and discovering all the new voice lines. There were some truly unexpected ones that caught me by surprise (characters commenting on how often you've been using a particular weapon, Meg whining about your heavy use of the metaprogression upgrades, etc). There were quite a number of times where I'd think "Huh. They really recorded a voice line for this weirdly specific scenario?"

right up there with Bastion's "Kid just rages for a while."

This was 100% my motivation for playing the game and after clearing it without the goggles on I realized the actual gameplay is repetitive and boring as frick. Still want to frick the ice hearted gilf though

Absolutely. It's a 7/10 roguelite that goes super hard on the hand-holding metaprogression that gets trivially easy within the first few hours, but those dweebs spent a lot of time recording voicelines and comments for obscure combinations of happenings. Meg prettily thanking you for turning off Extreme Mode so she didn't have to work with her sisters any more was <3

Some of the character designs are ugly. It looks like it was made by a lesbian with a useless art degree.

uh oh, sounds like someone failed out of art school... no surprise you're here

I've heard people unironically go on and praise the game for it's story, which does not make any fricking sense to me at all.

how on earth does the story not make sense to you, it only requires 3rd grade comprehension

dipshit, i'm saying it doesn't make sense to find the story appealing enough to praise.

Mostly women lusting over Zagreus making the game seem like something bigger than it really is.
Also LGBT propaganda because of course it has to have.

Supergiant games are extremely overrated. Bastion was boring as FRICK and I remember c**ts on here sucking it off back in the day. Shit still pisses me off because I didn't have much money back in those days and I wasted it on that garbage.

I played it this year and I liked it. I was surprised by how far into the game new content kept being introduced. But I didn't have it in me to make it past the 3rd ascension.

    >Record a bunch of "quirky" dialogue to random combination of gameplay flags
    >Design your game around the focus of a plethora of metaprogression grinds and reward them with all of the "quirky" dialogue scenes
    >Otherwise simplistic, generic game is carried by people saying they spent X hours (boosted by all of the metaprogression grinding) on it and that they loved the characters and story (because of all the dialogue)

It's literally this. Realize that no one actually talks about anything gameplay related, because it does things every other roguelite has already done better and perfected. It doesn't even have any cool weapon/ability synergy like Isaac did basically a decade earlier.

As someone who often gets burnt out on rogue-likes very quickly, Hades was a simply fun to keep returning to.

It found a sweet balance between combat experimentation and story elements by making every run feel like it had a sense of progression, no matter how shitty your run actually was. Even if you only made it a few rooms before dying, you probably found some upgrade material for the House of Hades, or at the very least get to continue potential side-quests and relationship routes.

It terms of actual variety, I understand the critique in the lack of bosses and biomes compared to something like Binding of Isaac, but I still ended up playing it much longer than Binding of Isaac because I actually wanted to see all it had to offer. The strong music and art design probably didn't hurt either.
