It required actual work to implement. Just play romhacks if you like Pokémon. Every official game after Gen 4 is worthless.
Honestly, Gen3 is the real cut off. I don't get why people pretend to like Platinum. or the remakes.
>Pretend to like gen 4
Fricking what? The remakes were bad ass. Hell I didn't even notice how much more curated they were until someone showed me with an image and yeah that sucks but it is still gen 2 thru and thru plus with the phy/sp split which is also nice.
Gen 3 was such a step back from gen 2. Gen 4 was a redemption and Platinum fixed almost all the problems with Diamond and Pearl.
>Just play romhacks if you like Pokémon
This. I've given up on Game Freak making a non-shit Pokemon game after their latest stunt
What are the best romhacks?

>the mon fricking bouncing behind you all the time, neverending
I'm confused as to why people liked this.
it really makes you feel like ash ketchup
Who gives a frick.
Exactly, must be some sort of autism or nostalgia.
This. Annoys me that that shit wasn't optional.
Small indie dev
Are you a small indie dev?
Deep down, we're all small indie devs.
I don't know if I'm in the right place here, I wanted to ask if anyone here knows anything about AI and next gen consoles, a question that requires a little more in-depth knowledge.
Can you not do that in SV?
you could do that since SwSh's DLC iirc it wasn't in PLA but it's in BDSP and SV
If you take your mon out in SV, they just stand there and return to the ball when you get too far away.
You're mixing it up with PLA, Pokémon fully follow you in SV and they can even autonomously approach and autobattle nearby wild Pokémon. The DLC lets you pull a Command Melody from Wind Waker and control them directly.
It did. You can walk with them in LGPE, SwSh and SV, and in PLA and you can throw them out and just talk to them or watch them idle.
>female character
yuck
When you want to replay these games do you just delete your save?
several games after this have had it. every switch game besides legends arceus lets you do this. although sword and shield only let you do it in a couple places.
because the games get progressively worse after that, not better
They're a poor small indie company. Animating all those pokemon so they walk alongside you is terribly expensive, plz understand...
That's weird. My ponyta has her back turned towards me.
it was just half-baked filler
>tons of work to include hundreds of overworld walking animations
>other than HP and status effects, the messages are picked at random
if you want a virtual pet so desperately go play nintendogs or something
The joke is that all those animations exist for the 3D models. A ridiculous amount of effort and time went into the XY models and their animations, including walking and running animations for literally every single Pokemon and, if applicable, their Mega evolutions too.
Do you perhaps have more in-depth knowledge of such developmental matters?
Sadly, no.
I just know that the XY models have a lot of polygons and animations, probably in an attempt to use them for multiple games.
Proof of all the walking animations.
Not enough space in the cartridge
Gameu Freaku isu smarru indie studio withu smarru Japaneseu penisu, preasu understandu.
It takes effort and Masuda was asking Morimoto why he was putting any into it.
Masuda was the director for the next two main games and the producer on everything else, by the way.
It's a completely superfluous feature for people whose idea of Pokémon is the anime that adds as much as Trainer customization, aka literally nothing other than whatever you get out of visual self-expression.
Actually, HGSS did put some work into the feature. The shiny leaves thing is kind of a neat novelty, having specific Pokémon react to specific environments is alright, and they really accounted for all four sides of asymmetrical and shiny Pokémon. It was kind of lame how you couldn't toggle it so you always had to have them following you and slide into battle unless you were in certain environments.
Pokemon is run like The Simpsons
Nothing must remain consistent, every new entry has to be completly new
That's especially annoying when it comes to battle gimmicks (mega, z move, dynamax...etc) has they always shit us a new useless shallow thing that will only last one generation instead of expanding on what already exists
>Nothing must remain consistent, every new entry has to be completly new
That is not entirely true.
3rd to 7th gen always built upon the foundations that the previous game laid, at least in terms of gameplay/battles. It is not until Sword/Shield that GF started cutting in the roster and moves of Pokemon.
It is more that some cool or interesting other features get cut and it hurts the games. The 4th gen Underground was cool and then never touched on again. 6th gen PSS was the perfect online Pokemon experience and got brutalized in 7th gen. ORAS's Dexnav was a genius idea that now only lives on in romhacks. Things like that.
