As for what you said, yeah it's clear that BOTW is kind of a soft reboot. BOTW handwaved connections to the previous games as to be so far in the past that it basically doesn't matter, and any references to previous games like the two Gerudo women next to Ganondorf in memory flashbacks in TOTK are simply easter egg references. Or in BOTW's case, when Zelda mentions "[...]Whether skyward bound, adrift in time, or steeped in the glowing embers of twilight" when making Link part of the champions. The same goes for stuff like Lon Lon Ranch and the like as well.

I understand the Demise split so we can fit BoTW/Tears into the rest of the series and it works as well as it can, and I understand wanting to replace the moronic Downfall timeline with something that makes more sense (even if there's no time traevl involvement with Vaati to justify it), I just don't get why you have to make Ganondorf's birth have to happen at the same time in all timelines.
You may call it that but I didn't feel confused when I played BotW. Some things didn't fit completely, but I had a strong guess. During TotK's intro, when Zelda had her nerdgasm over the stone murals, it felt like a confirmation.
I gave it a try. The dude went off the rails around 4:30. Everyone expected OoT to be a direct prequel to ALttP, but it already didn't fit back when it came out. Aonuma's statement about "2 timelines coming from OoT" (from the video) makes sense again if one doesn't try to make it a direct prequel to ALttP. OoT is the first game that's branched off from a continuous timeline that starts with SS and currently ends with TotK. And based on how Nintendo expanded on Ganon/Ganondorf, FSA will probably move to the DT as well.

Definitively after. Skyward Sword is the only Zelda game Tears definitively references in an actual tangible way (so not just Zelda referencing something that doesn't actually mean anything) with Fi 'talking' etc. While BOTW and Tears are soft reboots, it's very easy to say that SS is the only game that they acknowledge as still being relevant to themselves.
I personally think that while TotK was plenty fun, BotW was a more contained and "complete" feeling experience.
The memories in both, for example, while in BotW the order wasn't important at all, so you could see them in any order and it wouldn't matter, in TotK, the order is so incredibly important, yet the two closest after the first two memories geographically are the 6th and 8th ones. So personally, I think the TotK geoglyphs should've shown the memories in the proper order, either by only the next glyph in the sequence unlocked when you see the previous one, or just showing the proper order regardless of which glyph you find. That way, you don't end up like an actual friend of mine whose first glyph (they went south for some reason, i forget why) was the sonia getting stabbed one
I do also think you could've cut out 80% of the underground; it's rather boring to actually explore when you realize the inverted height bit, and a smaller underground map could've lead to a more interesting and properly detailed underground. It has a couple of spots that existed seemingly just to exist, like that one underground cavern underneath the chain of islands on the right of the map, which iirc only had a fight against the ganon hands
Same for the sky, if I'm to be honest; the sky sets itself up too hard with the great central island as the tutorial area, then you get to the rest of the sky and it's 80% copy and pasted islands, or ones that required next to no effort to design (the mazes, for example). The only three I really remember besides the copy and pasted ones are the giant sphere, the low gravity island above rito village, and the one with the minecarts near death mountain. I think they should've cut the mazes and the copy and pasted sky islands, and focused more on making unique and interesting ones
Anyway since I'm running out of post space as well; Rauru should've been a consistent character throughout the whole game as a companion ghost, that way Mineru could've
had more lines and personality in the game them being a flat board outside of geoglyph flashbacks

Mineru has the issue where the soonest possible moment a "normal" player could see her, presuming they follow the "intended" order of the game is geoglyph 2, possibly hours into the game. Or in BOTW's case, when Zelda mentions "[...]Whether skyward bound, adrift in time, or steeped in the glowing embers of twilight" when making Link part of the champions. The same goes for stuff like Lon Lon Ranch and the like as well.

I gave it a try. The dude went off the rails around 4:30. Everyone expected OoT to be a direct prequel to ALttP, but it already didn't fit back when it came out. Aonuma's statement about "2 timelines coming from OoT" (from the video) makes sense again if one doesn't try to make it a direct prequel to ALttP. OoT is the first game that's branched off from a continuous timeline that starts with SS and currently ends with TotK. And based on how Nintendo expanded on Ganon/Ganondorf, FSA will probably move to the DT as well.

Why did Nintendo even bothered to update the game with bug fixes after 1.1? If there was never planned DLC?
I personally think that while TotK was plenty fun, BotW was a more contained and "complete" feeling experience.
The memories in both, for example, while in BotW the order wasn't important at all, so you could see them in any order and it wouldn't matter, in TotK, the order is so incredibly important, yet the two closest after the first two memories geographically are the 6th and 8th ones. So personally, I think the TotK geoglyphs should've shown the memories in the proper order, either by only the next glyph in the sequence unlocked when you see the previous one, or just showing the proper order regardless of which glyph you find. That way, you don't end up like an actual friend of mine whose first glyph (they went south for some reason, i forget why) was the sonia getting stabbed one
I do also think you could've cut out 80% of the underground; it's rather boring to actually explore when you realize the inverted height bit, and a smaller underground map could've lead to a more interesting and properly detailed underground. It has a couple of spots that existed seemingly just to exist, like that one underground cavern underneath the chain of islands on the right of the map, which iirc only had a fight against the ganon hands
Same for the sky, if I'm to be honest; the sky sets itself up too hard with the great central island as the tutorial area, then you get to the rest of the sky and it's 80% copy and pasted islands, or ones that required next to no effort to design (the mazes, for example). The only three I really remember besides the copy and pasted ones are the giant sphere, the low gravity island above rito village, and the one with the minecarts near death mountain. I think they should've cut the mazes and the copy and pasted sky islands, and focused more on making unique and interesting ones

Tears is honestly just Breath of the Wild: Royal. I can't really call it a full on sequel because it doesn't have its own identity.

Mineru has the issue where the soonest possible moment a "normal" player could see her, presuming they follow the "intended" order of the game is geoglyph 2, possibly hours into the game. Meanwhile Rauru at worst, you could see idunno, a half hour in? Plus Rauru over the course of the game has far more screentime (and personality in comparison)
