Releasing horror games on the babby console was not a good idea.

      But they were objective upgrades.

Jesus Christ do you know what "flop" means? Means they didn't SELL

I didn't say they flopped, I just said they were objective upgrades on the Gamecube.

Is it hard getting through life being that autistic/moronic?

                >But Y happened.
                >That's not the question. Are you moronic? Should you be in sped class?

No idea why they weren't developed for the Xbox instead. Yeah that console wasn't very popular in Japan, but RE always sold best in the west. Not only was the console more powerful than the Gamecube, but it would have fit the franchise a lot more than a Nintendo console too.

capcom was not going to release a game that completely cut out the jap audience, at least not at that time.

But at the time, Xbox was trying to bring Japanese devs into the fold to boost the platform's reception in the region. Not to mention that Capcom would end up making Dino Crisis 3 an Xbox exclusive just a year later, in 2003 (same year RE Zero released too).

Microsoft tried courting Mikami early on but one late meeting caused him to pass and go for Nintendo instead.

But at the time, Xbox was trying to bring Japanese devs into the fold to boost the platform's reception in the region. Not to mention that Capcom would end up making Dino Crisis 3 an Xbox exclusive just a year later, in 2003 (same year RE Zero released too).

And Japan in turn was unsure about a western system, and Microsoft was fumbling at their attempts at marketing their system.
        >Not to mention that Capcom would end up making Dino Crisis 3 an Xbox exclusive just a year later, in 2003 (same year RE Zero released too).
And we all saw how that turned out.

They were released exclusively for the Gamecube, selling even less than the fricking OG Xbox, and appealed primarily to a Western audience, who were carrying the franchise at that point as Japanese tended to not give a shit about Resident Evil.

Cuz they didn't sell that much, like half the amount of sales of past RE games.

Capcom has been making the Snoyboys seethe by not completely kowtowing to them from Day 1 in 1994. Two decades later they're still crying they they were too poor to idort up release time frame.

they were so bad no one wanted them to be ported to another console or to PC meanwhile 4 had everyone sucking Capcom dick to port it to anything other than the Shitcube and even though RE4 was supposed to be Shitcube exclusive Capcom said frick it give them the middle finger to Shitendo and ported it to the PS2 and then to the PC

I'm 35 and actually asked my parents for a GC back in the day just so I could play REmake and 0. Do I regret it? Yeah, probably. If I wasn't going hard on CS 1.6 at the time, I would have fricked myself on the vidya front by having a 6th gen console with two games on it, and only one of them was good.

    >Resident Evil: 5m
    >Resident Evil 2: 6m
    >Resident Evil 3: 3.5m
    >Resident Evil Code: Veronica: 2.7m
    >Resident Evil Remake: 1.35m
    >Resident Evil 0: 1.25m
I guess it's just a mystery for the ages.

Because Capcom had absolutely moronic standards for what constituted a success from the mid-PS2 era to like 2015. Yes it was far worse in the PS3 era but it was still pretty fricking bad before that.

Now ask yourself, how much did they cost to make vs those sales?

Does game promotion work like movie promotion? Budget wise?

You mean in the concept of "the box office takes half the gross"? No, retailers only get 30% of the game's sale.

Because it was a stupid idea to make them GameCube exclusives, and he finally realized it. Also, the fixed camera survival horror trend was dying back then.
