Halo's hard to modernize because so much of it revolves around gameplay that's pretty dated to a bunch of zoomers. It doesn't help that the sandbox of the game is complete and total dogshit, it's basically Call of Duty with Tolkien steps to make it a little more Halo-esque. I've been melted by the AR at ranges that has Bungie's titles rolling in their graves.
>I've been melted by the AR at ranges that has Bungie's titles rolling in their graves.
That actually sounds based even though I hated Infinite and dropped it immediately after launch.
The AR should be a well rounded and versatile weapon, not a useless piece of shit shooting bb's at anything past 15ft!
No, the AR was fine in 3 and Reach
The AR being so shit that people demanded OP BR/DMR starts made anything that wasn't a power weapon almost useless, you couldn't use mounted turrets to defend your base because of it, and that's fricking gay!
Well that's on Bungie/343 for bending the knee, the point of Halo is to scavenge the battlefield for better weapons
The AR is finally usable in infinite, the problem is most of the other weapons weren’t. Combined with tiny map pool, low variety of modes, and the garbage that was the battle pass system the game was kind of dead in the water.
halo infinite actually has one of the better battle pass systems. yeah, leveling it up kind of sucks since it requires doing challenges but they made them so easy now you practically finish them all just by playing normally. also the battlepasses dont expire, so there is no FOMO aspect which is great.
Do you play Halo Infinite? It sounds like the Halo experience you've been looking for
>mfw you homosexuals want AR starts
I just said I hated Infinite you illiterate homosexual.
Me wanting AR starts does not make me prefer nu Halo over Bungie Halo, nor does it mean I wasn't there from the beginning as well.
Zoomer moron. Anything past 3 isnt Halo. Kys
>Halo games I don't like aren't Halo games
holy reddit...
>343 games are Halo games
I would spend the night jail to break the jaw of everyone who defiles this series any further. I literally would. Literally. Be glad we're both on the internet.
>I've been melted by the AR at ranges that has Bungie's titles rolling in their graves.
Wait did they make the AR finally not suck in the new halos? That sounds kind of fun. All the sweatys constantly using the BR or DRM was kind of boring. Made no sense that the AR was strictly inferior at all ranges to the BR/DRM.
The DMR would have been perfectly fine if it wasn't available in loadouts and you had to pick it up on the map
Loadouts completely ruined reach
>The DMR would have been perfectly fine if it wasn't available in loadouts and you had to pick it up on the map
You would have to make it spawn infrequently like a power weapon or have it start with less ammo otherwise it would still dominate the weapon sandbox. The DMR in reach beats most of the other common weapons in both time to kill and range. It was even pretty effective at taking out vehicles at range.
It did. AR start had dmrs spawn on a timer around the map. DMR start is pure cancer that only Black folk play.
>It was even pretty effective at taking out vehicles at range.
people whine about AR starts but shit like this is why AR starts exists. DMR starts makes vehicles worthless if you can coordinate like 2 other people to just focus fire any vehicle they just fall apart.
They removed alot of features that hardcore halo fans played halo for and they also removed a ton of features that people played halo for in general, like armor customization, ranks, all the gametypes, and they also double down on straight sbmm in all playlists so there goes any reason to improve since your matches will be even harder.
MCC doesn't even rank on the most played list on Xbox. it's deader than Infinite overall
Infinite is sandwiched between MK11 and Skyrim atm. that's pretty bad
Custom games came too late, most of the new audience they were trying to reach had checked out at that point
343 too incompetent to make meaningful/fun content at a pace that fits a live service, game launched with very little multiplayer content in the first place
Leaned too hard into making a competitive game, when Halo was always better as a casual multiplayer
Lack of game mode specific playlists is what did it for me, there was never even a fricking oddball playlist
the released the game with basically no content, and then proceeded to do absolutely nothing for years. so people stopped playing
Catered too hard to the e-celeb crowd, its gunplay is serviceable but nothing new or impressive. Seems like more effort was put into a failed attempt at micro balancing than giving the game fun modes the vast majority of people want to play Halo for.
Also everything's super fricking sweaty, even outside the ranked matches.
>took them 2 years to add Infection
>still not even out
Yeah, I wonder why it failed.
>Game makes it clear that Infection this time around is something something AI something something Spartans getting hacked
>Meanwhile the armor is made to deal with biological hazards
???
>took them 2 years to come up with that story and to add some red glowy shit onto the armor
BRAVO 343
Also why does Infection even need a lore justification at all, they were like this in 4 too with that terrible Flood mode
Infection doesn't even fricking need that, I rather just fricking hate the infection turn green and that's it. It doesn't need a fricking explanation.
If they did that, we would've fricking had Infection DAY ONE.
This, 343 trying to bring lore and story to the multiplayer is the most autistic thing. It wastes them so much time.
because if they make it an armor effect maybe youll buy a new coating to use in infection
>Barely any maps at release
>Barely any modes at release, for those that don't know Infection will finally come back in 3 days after 2 years
>Butchered big team battle
>No PvE multiplayer mode like Firefight or Warzone
>Armor customization, one of the most beloved features since Halo 3, is behind a paywall 90% of the time
>343 constantly nerfing shit because competitive cucks can't deal with anything that isn't a BR
>tell the community that they're adding cross core compatibility
>only add visors
>been months and still nothing
>first 2 yesrs xp earning was locked behind doing tedious weekly challenges
>instead of just playing the game
>they had to fricking beta that shit
>muddle the weapon pool by adding useless shit
>have to remove features and staple them onto the new ones in order for people to even use them
I've never seen a dev team more incompetent and undeserving of an ip than 343.
I wish Bonnie Ross nothing less than pain and misery and for the rest of the dev team to be blacklisted from the industry.
Reminder if it wasn't for Pierre Hintze, 343 would've gladly let MCC stay in a broken state and then shut down the 360 servers 2 years later.
We would've been left with MCC as the only way to play Halo.
doesn't have weppy in it
The problem with Halo Infinite is not that it's bad, but rather everything it does, Halo 3 did it better.
halo infinite got no booty
zero donks
sin brappers
Remember when the most popular gamemode was actually literally unplayable for like 2 months immediately after launch? Yeah I'm willing to bet that might've made a dent in their playercount.
Remember when they added this new battle royale lite gamemode that no one fricking wanted any everyone hated?
Remember how halfway they fricking removed it because "surprised!" No one fricking played it.
So now you had a Season where the main point of the update was this gamemode that's now removed.
Most of the people who have stuck with Halo for this long prefer PvE and story elements. They like the Halo universe and PvP does next to nothing in that area.
It's simply not fun.
>barely any maps on release
>number of weapons SLASHED from like 25+50 variants in H5 to a paltry dozen or so, series classic weapons like OG shotgun, magnum, spartan laser, fuel rod cannon all missing
>number of vehicles SLASHED. No gauss hog, no alien warthog equivalent
>terrible vehicle spawn system
>no infection
>no 'massive' game mode like Warzone and none of the vehicle variants etc
And most damning of all
>H5 spartan butts - one of the only good things 343 ever did - completely removed, male and female spartan bodies now practically indistinguishable
I just don't get it. I know H5 had its problems, the campaign story was fricking terrible and the MP with its enhanced movement style wasn't to everyone's liking.
But the sheer amount of content they had in H5 (3 years dev time) compared to Infinite (SIX years dev time) is insane.
Infinite took twice as long to make but released with half as many maps, a fifth as many weapons, no huge warzone-style maps.
I mean what the frick were they doing for six years?
Oh yeah and
>no assassinations
>>no assassinations
They gutted a bunch of iconic guns and replaced them with whatever gay shit came out of halo 4 and 5 or whatever
For what reason did the plasma pistols over charge function need an entirely new gun for?
You know what's the funniest part of those new Tesla guns? They were buggy as frick, so buggy in fact that 343 straight up removed the DoT effect they had
The fast TTK of the starter weapons means there's no point in map control or getting power weapons, expecially with all the clutter. Most of the maps are too cluttered for anything other than holding down a chokepoint for kills
They gatekeep challenges behind the same challenge. I kept getting shit like
>kill 10 Spartans
Then after completing a few, getting
>kill 15 Spartans
Within the same week. Frick that, either give unique challenges or better yet give all challenges upfront each week.
Plus everything is behind a paywall with no way to grind it for free. They have that negative aim on mkb, I wouldn't be surprised if paid items give better aim and damage.
Of course, not being able to play the game for months fricked any potential for broing out. I'm surprised it make any profit.
When your team looks like this of course its bound to fail. My personal opinion is 343 locking armor, colors, and weapon skins behind a paywall kinda killed the mood and even the initial battle passes were boring as frick. Add all the staff not knowing what made the Bungie Halo games amazing in the first place is a given.
>Has performance issues almost 2 years later
>Playlists suck ass
>Only just now adding infection back
It does not have the competitiveness and skill ceiling of CSGO, the smoothness of Call of Duty or the large maps of Battlefield. It is like in-between these but does not excel at anything and there are not enough people with nostalgia for it
This is the same game that didn't even have Team Slayer at launch.
>modernize the Halo sandbox and do some pretty neat things with it
>do absolutely nothing with it for months, missing staple game modes, no maps, etc
>performance is ass, game is so shittily optimized and BTB (the one casual fun mode that made it in) was unplayable, even when it is playable the maps (a grand total of three) are terrible
>don't launch with Forge or a proper Custom Games, so you can't even let the playerbase make its own fun
>lock every single customization option behind a paywall, make cosmetics upwards of 10 bucks for a fricking armor color
>campaign can't seem to decide what the frick it wants to do and is so incredibly disjointed between titles (Cortana's dead, but then she isn't, your enemy from the first game died off-screen between games, no mention of it whatsoever, Cortana's evil, then DIES OFF-SCREEN BETWEEN GAMES, but then she's CLONED) so you're not even drawing/retaining players that like the single-player aspects of Halo
Frick 343, I'm glad Halo is dead, they didn't deserve it
