Because the Japs made games like Skyward Sword that were handholding you throughout the entire experience in an effort to get casuals to buy their games, even though they don't have the ability to beat a game. Back during the 1990s I knew plenty of people that stopped gaming because games were too hard for them, so the thinking made sense and looking how the gaming market has expanded it wasn't exactly the wrong call. It just diluted gaming and gamers got a bit mad at it.
