Too hard for kids and the pricing was ridiculous. How is a stupid ass kid going to get past Cortex castle without wanting to give up? That end section should have been the final death route, not mandatory

Normies got their nostalgia fill with the trilogy and didn't bother to come back.

Good example of why you cant revive long dead series outside a nostalgia cash in and why you need to keep pumping out games at least once every 2 years to keep your IP relevant and that it doesnt die with one generation.

remakes sell well because they're nostalgiabait. NST was also 3 games in one and Crash 4 was a single game for $60

      Anonymous

Crash 4 has more than twice the "content" of all 3 N. Sane games combined. The problem is that 80% of said content is sheer padding.

it could have zero filler, it doesn't matter. 3 games in 1 is more appealing than 1 game in 1 is my point.

Obscenely hard levels, with frame-perfect timed jumps required.
    Inverted levels are trash.

The levels were only even remotely hard if you were going for box clears, and to be fair that's playing a Crash game correctly.

The trilogy was a nostalgia trip. Didn't mean a lot of people wanted a new one, and the feedback from those who did want a new one was pretty heavily mixed.

Sabotaged by the boomer fanbase. Kinda like what happened with Mania, except by boomer Jap devs that hate the gayjin doing better than them

The only objective flaw is just how much post game content they tried to put in in a game where getting every box is just too hard normally, aka bullshit box placement for some of them

As a casual game, its' the best in the series. As a completionist game, it's like the second to worse one next to the likes of the Tribal Crash games.

    - Unappealing kiddy game cover art, doesn't attract adults
    - Shockingly high difficulty once opened, doesn't attract children
    - It's extremely long
    - Interdimensional travel narrative falls a bit flat because it's not serviced enough by the level design. Most locations are new anyway.
    - The insignificance of where the player travels often pairs terribly with the length and difficulty of them, much like Wrath of Cortex
    - Extremely small cast
    - Sore lack of comedic writing or timing
    - Character designs lack comedy as well
    - Death animations aren't particularly funny or edgy either
    - The amount of unlockable skins is adequate but full completion in comparison is very tedious and very rinse/repeat

As much as people like to point out that NST and CTR:NF are "remakes" the reality is there wasn't any audience retention i.e. neither of those games made any "new fans". Crash 4 tried to pull in a new audience the devs believed were generated from the older games but what they failed to understand is how thoroughly unappealing Crash 4 was. Sonic doesn't have this problem because his games actually do bring in new fans. Mario doesn't have this problem because his games seldom change much and has built a loyal audience with consistent releases. Crash couldn't do either of these.

NST already alienated older fans by fricking up the physics and with the devs posting a lengthy blogpost that can best be summed up as: We don't care, git gud cause we're incompetent.

CTR:NF only brough in "whales" who have no interest in single player games. The type of sad consumer that defends Microtransactions and other typical Fee to Play BS because the truth is they don't have any money.

And Crash 4 was just a bad unappealing game when its all said and done. From the character designs to tacked on extra playable characters. Nothing here has any meat to it.

Not quite an Uka Pill but this'll do.

I imagine the inexplicable change in artstyle even though N-Sane and Nitro-Fuelled were successful put a lot of people off.

Someone post the fan model of Crash 1 Tawna. Shit, post all the models that guy did I can't find them because I don't know his name. Why can't fans like that happen to be on the development team for these games instead of narcissistic furry c**ts who feel the need to redesign shit so they can put their mark on it?

Battle.net release, $60 price tag, 100% completion scared everyone, level designs aren't as memorable, Tawna redesign started a fire storm within the fanbase, late switch release, boring bosses.

Devaluated IP. They sell 3 games at $40 then they try to selll crash 4 at $60 which obviously has less content than the remastered trillogy and looks exactly the same.

People that like this don't have to tell you to skip 80% of the game to pretend it's still good
    Beyond being a downgrade
Beyond decanonizing the ENTIRE series (while camping on muh multiverse so they can go back on it if it goes bad)
    Beyond Tawna bullshit
    Beyond the Semi-Titans crash redesign.
Crash It's About Time is a game even its most ardent defenders tell you to skip MOST of just to make it tolerable.
