OLED TVs are an upgrade in nearly every way. They're lighter, have better contrast and color, and don't suffer from geometry issues or aging hardware. High refresh rate OLED monitors also have great motion clarity.

      >OLED TVs are an upgrade in nearly every way
They have the same motion blur issues as LCD's. Making them absolutely useless.
      >High refresh rate OLED monitors also have great motion clarity.
High refresh rate doesn't get rid of motion blur, you need high refresh rate + a strobing backlight. This causes lots of other problems and you need a refresh rate of about 480hz to get rid of motion blur.
So in our current state of 120hz OLED's we can reduce the blur but not eradicate it, we're a long way off.

OLED is a colossal meme and an enormous waste of money. You're better off getting a plasma.

Come back once you've tried carrying a 120 lb CRT TV to your living room. No one liked carrying bulky, heavy TVs home. Companies dropped CRT technology fast once LCDs became cheap to produce because CRTs are unwieldy.

Phones use OLED specifically because they burn in.

And video games are probably the fastest way to cause burn in with how many static elements can be on screen from a game's ui.

LCD's are dogshit man. However, there are only a few CRT monitors worth owning and finding any of them either in the wild or online in working condition is becoming harder and harder. Not to mention buying one online is a gamble because it could get destroyed during shipping unless whoever ships it to you bags it and then encases it entirely in expandable foam.

CRT color profiles are just insanely better. You literally cannot capture it on an LCD or OLED screen. OLED does dark blacks, but it's still not the same behavior of light that CRTs offer.

If two displays with the same exact specs are outputting the same image and resolution with only difference being screen size, the smaller one is going to look sharper due to having a higher pixel density.

Easiest example of this is the 3DS and 3DS XL. The 3DS XL is identical to the 3DS in everything but size, and looks worse due to being larger.

Shame CRTgays can't show off motion clarity. If you aren't a brainlet and can process faster than 30fps most CRTs look much better than an OLED.

the text is perfectly legible at speed on crt, and on a sample and hold display (all lcd, all oled) is an absolute mess

pc crts are literally the best viewing experience you can get and i have 8 of them. if i can find a 21"+ pc crt for not assfrickingly expensive, it will replace my 4k monitor in a second. the quality of content that we had when they were widely used was way behind what they could actually pull off. Literally their full potential was never realized

based id be willing to pay like 300 for one if it worked and was good on geometry. im not buying a monitor for 1k+ though. if i didnt use a couple of programs that feel too cramped on a 17 i would use it as a daily driver.

I play sometimes on a 15 year old or so CRT we have here at the house. It has some burn in on the top corner but it works fine for the most part.
Colors and motion clarity are way better than all the LCDs here, but the size and them being huge is kinda lame. Only good for contemporary tech, I guess.

CRTs don't support HDR so OLED is superior by default.

Something like an FW900 is nice but most CRTs are garbage and 24" is too small anyway.
I can't imagine gaming on anything smaller than 27" on a desk let alone from a couch where I want 60"+.
Let go of old technology weird significant drawbacks and get an OLED or miniLED if you're a schizo about burn-in.

you know at this point i'm wondering why they don't release movies for vidya consoles just for the sake of demonstrating real-time rendering

Stores dont want to have a few CRTs take up a ton of shelf space when they could just do fine with a ton of LCD monitors that are super light to carry.

My dad gave away my crt tv that I got as a birthday present. And I had to give & throw away all my stuff because he was going to sell the house and move. I didn't have a place of my own, so nowhere to store it all.
A huge crt would have been cool back then, especially if you had lightgun games. I've seen rear projection screens in a event room behind a bar and on the curb, they're cool too.

I bought a widescreen crt that had red, blue, green and YELLOW, for $100 in 2015, I looked online and when it was new it cost $3500. Cut some timber and screwed together a frame for it so I could watch it laying down. Only way I could really, I was sleeping in a sea container on a work site. Played 360 games on it and used most of my pay to buy 360 games. Had around 20 to 30. Left all that behind too when I demanded the guy who was running the job pay my boss, so he could pay me. Fired of course. And he went on holiday instead of paying my boss propperly.

Australia. And work is hard to get. And people screw you over as the norm. I liked my boss, he was a good person and had a kid to consider, he talked about cutting his losses and I convinced him to stay. I expected to get paid at the end of the job, not much, but something, a few grand for however long it was, 1-3 months. I've been paid more in a week. Working pretty much just because I liked him. I got $500 twice I think. Not enough to cover groceries. I lived mostly on pizza from a bin behind a supermarket, and before I moved into a sea container I slept in a nature reserve.
It was a pretty good setup. I used showers in or near a caravan park to stay clean. Watched dvd movies in a library on a pc meant to browse the catalogue.
Did a lot of walking, took the train, sneaking on. Didn't need money. Hadn't had any for months before. I worked for a guy before that for $50 a day and he even didn't pay me that. He had a kid too, only paid 12 grand off his house after whatever years. He spent as much as I wanted to be paid on the horses every day. I got to see some areas I wouldn't have though.

Disgusts me how some people take the dole or work useless jobs. But they end up looking like it, so it's fair.

It depends. 20" slot masks are pretty easy around 25lbs but aperture grilles weigh a lot more (I have a 15" monitor that's 33lbs) and the square cube rule makes a big difference so something like a 27" Trinitron is a fricking anchor in the 100lb range.

I love CRTs. I own 3 TVs (one of them too old go even have composite) and a Syncmaster monitor. Playing retro stuff, 4:3 visual novels and watching 90s anime on them feel and look amazing. You guys enjoy paying $600 for technology that is still trying to catch up tho.

If you actually want some of that ancient technology, look for plasma TVs on craigslist and facebook marketplace. I've seen a bunch of them over the past year that just languish for weeks because no one wants them. Once the CRT meme is over in a few years after the good ones start costing $5k+ and the rest start to break down, people will probably start crazing after old plasma TVs after some homosexual youtuber makes a 1 hour video like "PLASMA TVs ARE BETTER THAN OLED????" Get on that now if you want one, I see big ass ones for like $50-100 regularly.

I don't want a big screen TV at all for one thing and I'm not shopping random used TVs for gaymen when most are laggy as frick.
