As a troglodyte WoW-addicted teenager I bought Cataclysm on release day, played for a month and decided it was over, fixed my hunchback posture and got fit.
Checking in on the new lows WoW has sunk to since, it's hands down the best life decision I ever made.

    -wow store/paid/pre-purchase exclusives in Classic
-dragonflight looking like a mobile game

Died in Cata for me, rather, the love died, but I held on to the hope that it would come back and that got me through the Shadowlands launch. I'm so glad I gave it up for good at that point. I really do feel pity towards people actually justify their playing of Dragonflight. I used to have so much respect for people that have been playing wow for the longest. But now I have the highest respect for people who quit wow the earliest. Not because it's a "waste of life", but because they recognized the phenomenon was over and all that was left was shilling and monetization.

    still occasionally r34 wow though.

Because I did the new content and don't actually socialize anymore on MMO's.

    >Buy new expansion
    >Do main quest lines
    >Play new dungeons
    >Play new raids using raid finder.
    >unsub and wait for new content to be added.

Gamers cream their jeans for nostalgia of vanilla forgetting, while yes you don't have online friends anymore, you now have literally unlimited other games, books manga, movies, tv shows, etc (even if you're service sector and know how to pirate and shop for deals).

There's never enough time to do everything and the last thing I'm going to do is spend that time running around barrens reading stupid Chuck Norris jokes and Matrok's wife or whatever the frick his name was.

I never really played it, aside from on and off play cycles when I wanted something new to try.

End-game being entirely raid oriented in modern titles kills my interest as well.

MMO content just gets too difficult. The playerbase gets too good at the game and like From titles it ends up being this armsrace between the devs and their subscribers.

There was an old image of how one of the lead raid designers in WoW was some former EQ poopsocker, and that's why WoW (and other MMO endgames) are boring shit.

We rarely have quest about two people relationship, and when we have it, it have bizarre ending.

Suddenly, all zone have gay relationship, even straight relationship quest must have gay in it.

And they love making all new males smaller than female. And only male can be bad guy.

Women don't make good games. The dudes who built warcraft up (okay, copied it from warhammer but still) were about beer drinking, rock n roll, sex and violence, that's what sells to a male audience. If you forget that, you're out, shrimple as that.

considering this is a company that re-uses almost all the animations for their "new" race, investing the resources into sign language animations just indicates a poor use of budget though

          Anonymous

Blizzards model re-usage has always been horrible even under good budget management. Making 3d models of Volcanoth shells for pygmy huts based on the concept art only to completely avoid making a new fire turtle model to match is was pretty much the low point for me.

          Anonymous

I looked up a video, they just reused some generic emote motions as pretend sign language. It's legitimately just virtue signaling to people who want to seem inclusive rather than actually being inclusive. I don't know a single hearing impaired person who'd be happy with
          >look a powerful deaf woman
          >the whole of the effort we put into this inclusivity is a copy pasted line of dialogue that says she signs, and having her repeat 3 poorly clipped emotes
          >give us money
You know what's inclusive of deaf people? Shit they already did from the fricking start - subtitles and written dialogue.

My guild disbanded when we failed to clear firelands before blizzard nerfed it for handicap catch up before Dragon Soul was released.
It was that at that point I realized raiding conceptually felt like a job more than a game with the guild drama and the stress, a lot of which directed at me to try and keep my healing up.
PVP was at its worst, so I just kind of gave up.

Warlords of Draenor put me on last strike status with Blizzard, and Legion, while pretty, managed to be even shittier from a basic gameplay standpoint. Their devs were in a state of pure, unadulterated arrogance too where they disregarded feedback on fundamental gameplay mechanics being fricked on new specs since alpha, and when they finally were too much to ignore, claimed they needed 'more data' and procrastinated for another raid tier. Demon Hunters are also THE homosexualIEST excuse for a hero class, Horde had ridiculous pop issues with lame-ass Blood Elves who were already artificially boosted by being the de facto Paladin race for years, let's give them a fricking exclusive hero class to boot! Frick that shit, if I get the itch I play free-ass private servers that actually give some semblance of a damn about the game.

Occasionally I look in on the state of WoW. Half of the races now appear to be blatant furry bait and every single npc is a disabled troony so I guess that tells you who their target audience is.

I'll give a different answer from most for why I stopped though: I was a loregay beacuse I loved warcraft 3 so much, and WoW just shat on the very idea of a somewhat grounded world with coherent stories so many tumes that I just coukdn't take it anymore. Even from the beginning, WoW was pretty poor on tbis front, but Blizzard's idea of continuing the narrative from 3 was to make every character go crazy and become a raid boss. Sometumes more than once.

Mate have you seen the current state of WoW? I'm more curious as to why there's still anyone playing the game.

I didn't, it's fun. DF dialled back the stupid mechanics like the mission table and gimmick gear. At worst it's just a bit mid but after SL and BFA I don't mind. The flying is enjoyable too.

    Let's look at the history
    >SL's story sucked ass
    >BFA had the worst mechanic ever introduced in the history of the game
    >Legion was good
    >WoD was unfinished. Garrisons were dumb
    >MoP was good
    >Cata was okay
    >WoTLK was good
    >TBC was good
    >Didn't play vanilla but I played classic and it was fun

The game has been mostly good over the course of nearly two decades, but it did also have two extremely shit expansions which makes people forget.

You talk to ex-players and it's all "They ruined the game when they did X" or "they nerfed y" or "trannies live rent free in my head". I'd rather complain about the shitfrick state of the lore.
