Because Mists of Pandaria was fricking trash and Warlords of Draenor was even worse. The game was on a steady decline ever since Cataclysm dropped and I'm glad as frick that I got out when I did. Shit game, shit company.

Unfortunately, they started to pad the patches more than ever and during my break, they went full moron with the woke (revising even classic content), so it didn't take much to simply not resub and quit forever.
Latest expansion was just a confirmation that I made the right decision.
my friends got me to try classic and tbc. the cool raids drop shit gear and the ones people spend most of the time farming are a single hallway with like 2 boring ass fights. the mechanics are literally brain dead simple compared to most mmos. The talent trees are shit because you basically have one tree for leveling or pvp, one for raids, and one that is completely useless. the reputation system is absolute cancer, the game is overrun with bots and gold farmers, and the pvp servers unbalance and die within a month >my rating: shit game for morons/10

I fell out of love with it and I didn't enjoy raiding anymore which was the only reason why I played. Two consecutively terrible expansions (BFA, Shadowlands) killed the game for me and I ended up quitting in Sanctum.
Bought DF and I didn't even reach max level. I think I'm just over WoW at this point even though it seems a lot better.

Statiscially speaking 9 times out of 10 if someone doesn't return for a expansion to a game the same person will never return for a patch until its the final one. Its unironically over for Choragonslop.
Vanilla's levelling experience, atmosphere and world building was top notch which makes it super comfy to play through. It's just unfortunately the class balance is pretty bad. If you're a shaman or paladin or druid you're only doing PVE as a healer. If you're pvping then shaman falls off, druid falls off and you're left having to run like ele/resto and feral respectively. If you can be an orc/undead/dwarf/gnome, you have to take it for the racials or you've just gimped your character permanently.
Engineering on every character you actually expect to play. Levelled up twice to get both gnomish/goblin engineering. Then you need to gather shit for your potions for raids and go get world buffs every week...
Most people wind up just buying gold to bypass all this shit and they never get banned for it. What you're left with is people just raid logging. It's a sad symptom of modern habits. People wanna be optimal about every last thing.

No one uses defensives appropriately. Everyone trinkets and pops defensives within the first 15 seconds. It ironically gets worse the higher rated the players are. You will blow every CD under the sun in response to DPS bursts and they'll overlap defensives early under no damps and then flame you and say you're not healing them when you're sitting on 50% damps and did 8m healing in one round. Frick it. I hate these people. Never seen an MMO be so stressful.
Guys, I just wanna heal and I don't enjoy the slop they have on offer in raids. The alternative is uninstalling, which I did yesterday. I don't think I 'deserve' to deal with braindead morons. It's really stressful.

Yep that's pretty apparent. Well, to put things into perspective. Healing queue is instant at any minute of the day. DPS queue on the other hand takes anywhere between 40-60 minutes to pop. All the healers are quitting in droves because this season in particular is the most miserable season for us in the history of the game. Damps, copious amounts of high uptime anti-heal, strong sustained damage forcing every CD out within 1 minute oh yeah and randomly casters just accidentally crit for 250k and instantly kill your team mate. It's so bad Blizzard has acknowledged the problem. But their solution is giving out shitty boxes instead of fixing the game. The problem will only get worse. Oh yeah and since solo came the MMR on 3v3 has deflated to shit. Nobody is playing 3v3. All the healers are quitting. Arena scene will die within the year.
I'm a semi newish player. First played it in ahadowlands then dropped it. Just recently picked it up again to try to do content and the honeymoon effect is wearing off.
I'm finding it harder and harder to enjoy the game simply because of the community. It takes forever to get into a raid using LFR and looking for a guild for me has been even worse. I main 2 tanks but want to play dps from time to time and I can't without waiting 40 minutes to do anything.
Then there's the massive amount of sweatyness that goes into it. Even when I run my own mythic plus keys and make a note for people to expect wipes and that im not going for time, they still get pissed if the group doesn't time. This game would be better if thr community policed itself a bit where others actually wanted to play tank. Or where guilds were an in between between active try hards and lazy casuals. I think im cancelling my sub today after work.

Better alternatives: Private servers, you can even host your own server easily now with bots which is about the same experience you get retail except if you have enough autism you can command them to not suck as bad.
Level scaling: Destroys any sense of progression, easily the worst offender for me. Scaling in an rpg removes the rpg, all for the ease of being able to do braindead content with your normalgay friends that only play 2 hours a week.

All the healers are quitting in droves because this season in particular is the most miserable season for us in the history of the game. Damps, copious amounts of high uptime anti-heal, strong sustained damage forcing every CD out within 1 minute oh yeah and randomly casters just accidentally crit for 250k and instantly kill your team mate. It's so bad Blizzard has acknowledged the problem. But their solution is giving out shitty boxes instead of fixing the game. The problem will only get worse. Oh yeah and since solo came the MMR on 3v3 has deflated to shit. Nobody is playing 3v3. All the healers are quitting. Arena scene will die within the year.

I'm a semi newish player. First played it in ahadowlands then dropped it. Just recently picked it up again to try to do content and the honeymoon effect is wearing off.
I'm finding it harder and harder to enjoy the game simply because of the community. It takes forever to get into a raid using LFR and looking for a guild for me has been even worse. I main 2 tanks but want to play dps from time to time and I can't without waiting 40 minutes to do anything.
Then there's the massive amount of sweatyness that goes into it. Even when I run my own mythic plus keys and make a note for people to expect wipes and that im not going for time, they still get pissed if the group doesn't time. This game would be better if thr community policed itself a bit where others actually wanted to play tank. Or where guilds were an in between between active try hards and lazy casuals. I think im cancelling my sub today after work.

I thought exactly this when I learned that pvp damage scaling was removed and pvp became fast and gear dependent again.
I quit as soon as they moved to the current pvp gearing system.
Too much grind. At some point it's like a second job, you just feel pressured into playing.

I still play but only because i've been with the same guild for over 10 years and i actually enjoy raiding with them even though every aspect of the game that's not raiding is absolute shit.
I got the alpha for BfA, played it for an hour and it was enough to convince me how fricking atrocious it was. Played to the end of Legion doing M+ with my buddies

BFA and shadowlands were too awful to keep going. Season 4 of shadowlands and going into the prepatch the game felt incredibly dead and my btag was like a ghost town. People weren't coming back, the fun wasn't coming back for the next xpac.
Because me and my friend group didn't like it and it wasn't worth me paying any money for it. I didn't actually pay, I only played using a code I got from a boomer friend who didn't know the game was online, and he refused to take my money when I offered.

Class homogenization: Every class plays the same with builders and finishers, shares similar cooldowns as well.
Pozzed story and staff: Don't get me wrong the writing has been soiboi shit for a long time now but it has gone beyond the point of no return. Everyone that works here is either a scared whiteboy programmer or an extreme leftist and they only know how to write mary sues, incompetent men, and incredible amounts of homosexuality.
Better alternatives: Private servers, you can even host your own server easily now with bots which is about the same experience you get retail except if you have enough autism you can command them to not suck as bad.
Level scaling: Destroys any sense of progression, easily the worst offender for me. Scaling in an rpg removes the rpg, all for the ease of being able to do braindead content with your normalgay friends that only play 2 hours a week.

I played ESO at launch and liked being able to jump ahead and have a challenge against higher leveled mobs, only quit because the eruo servers were in fricking Texas. I never came back because they put in level scaling, and also still mad over the server shit.
