This. Parents always had a computer in the house. They let me install shit like SimCity and SimAnt on their Mac back in the day. Also Doom later of course.

This, we were on the razor edge of poverty, I learned to build with scrap parts. First thing I got working was a busted Atari ST in the mid-90s. First actual build was junk parts stuffed into cracked and bent Compaq case. Actually got a dot matrix printer working on it, well, half working, it wouldn't print anything but gibberish, but still, I got it to accept commands.

I grew up playing on both PC and consoles (born in 1995, so roughly 1999 to 2013), but since like 2014 I've mostly just played games on PC. Nintendo is the only console video game company left that's really making anything worth buying to me these days.

Donating an animal that is no longer affectionate to you, urinates on expensive furniture, and is yet another source of bullshit during crunch time is not the same thing as killing your cat. I support Carmack on this one. Frick the cat. Obviously don’t be abusive to it on the way to the shelter, but it’s got to go.

I swapped between console and PC, but primarily played the PS2 and PS3. When I got into Minecraft and TF2, I gradually started shifting towards PC gaming and eventually used it 90% of the time when I got a PC upgrade.

I have always had both consoles and PCs. Once consoles stopped having worthwhile exclusives, I stopped buying them. The Xbox One? Only exclusive I can think of is that Halo 5 Guardians and LOL if you think I'm buying a console for that. But I did buy a PS4 because Bloodbourne and Gravity Rush 2 were worth it along with a handful of other games that were exclusive at the time like Persona 5, but then all those exclusives started to release on PC. So at the moment I do not have a PS5 since there just nothing but the Demon Souls remake that I would remotely want to play on it. So I just have a nice i7 with a 3080 where I can play anything that would be released on the Xbox series whatever-they call-it or the PS5.

I switched from it. As I get older I get tired of sitting in front of a PC like I do at the office. The precision of cursor is nice but modern games are all console ports anyway so it's much more comfortable to just sit in a couch and play some shit on a huge TV.

    >but you can hook up your PC to a TV
that's just a poorgay cope, I've never experienced something as tedious as setting up Windows, drivers, launchers and all that shit on a TV with a controller. Consoles win in every aspect

I never switched, we never had a console. I wish we did, and part of me thinks the games I played are to blame for my thinking process. Could things be different if I played games that required patience and showed me valuable lessons my parents failed to? Maybe. There’s no morals or redeeming quality of flash slop like Hobo 3 and barfing on dudes.

No digital games or piracy is just as cheap as buying a game and then selling it. + Actually selling is oftem times such a hassle where you have to deal with moronic mouthbreathers.
And no, owning a 1.0 version without patches is 99% fricking shit. Modern games just plain suck on release.

Saw Jedi Knight II when I was kid and similar detailed gameplay games that I couldn't play. Finally when I had my own money I made one. Stuck with it because that was mid-life of PS2 and the next generations after progressively had fewer and fewer titles on consoles I cared about. Nothing that would justify buying a whole consoles just for a few games.
