Why didn't the DS have a lot of visual novels? Seems like the perfect platform for it.

the original DS is the best one
Not with that dim ass screen it isn't.
The Lite improved on it in every way except that the GBA cartridges stick out.
Are there any screen mods for the DS Fat? I've always wanted one.
No, nobody cared enough to make one.
What? Why? It would be kino
Go make a mod then homosexual it's not too hard. (You) just need to make adapter flex cables that work with modern screens. I'd do it I just don't give a frick about the DS fat cause I already own a DSi XL.
XL's are fricking trash due to the shit resolution.
>t. owns a N3DS XL, I should've gone with the small one
DSi XL does not have this issue 3DS XL owning homosexual.
>forfeits the best inputs in handheld history for Apple Aesthetics
Pretty gay ngl
No BUT I did get one with more than one brightness level from some dude on ebay. It's still as bright as the lite but much better than the default
The Lite's buttons sucked.
>ugly ass PHAT design
>dim screen
>garbage touch screen
>weird placed power button
I don’t think so Tim
The PSP had a much better screen for it, and hilariously also had a lot of visual novels too.
small screens and younger target audience
Yeah, I doubt that many children/teenagers would have cared about playing a visual novel. It’s not my cup of tea either, as most of the DS games I own are more action based.
DS was the RPG and Puzzle game machine.
The DS is for people who enjoy gameplay
It didn't have visual novels as we know it (even though VNDS interpreter existed, you could read Higurashi, Ever17 etc on your DS) but it still had a lot of games who were very close:
>6 Gyakuten Saiban (Ace Attorney*) games
>999
>Time Hollow
>Lux Pain
>Detective Jake Hunter games
>Layton games
>Hotel Dusk & The Last Window
And if you want to extrapolate:
>Theresia
>Trauma Center Under The Knife 1&2
And a lot of others I forgot about
>Lux Pain
First time i ever see someone mention this online. Feels like I'm the only one who's played it.
I remember being very disappointed by that game compared to time hollow and Kyle Hyde games
Tim Hollow was the shittiest one. It's so fricking short and they hold your hand the entire fricking time, and the new game plus is just an extra six minute cutscene that happens right at the start. I was so mad I paid money for that shit.
Yeah, time hollow was boring as shit. But I still think it had charm.
Also
>paid
The theme song was cool
I remember finding it funny how the mc was responsible for his mom not putting enough spice to her meals in their daily lives. The reason was: when he traveled back in time, he found the meals to be too spicy and complained. And she took it to heart
No better combo
you forgot the gba flashcart
>Silver DS
Nah nah nah, that's some normalgay shit. The white one was kino.
did they even release the white one outside of japan
>it's not in my favourite colour!
YWNBAW
Silver is just white but better.
Platinum > Silver > White
and yes that applies to the pokemon games as well
The only ones people remember from this era are Phoenix Wright and 999.
And they were NDS games.
Is this a real question? Every moron should know that the PSP was the designated VN machine in japan, the Vita being successful is also living prove of that fact. The second screen on the DS is great for adventure games but adds nothing for regular VNs. Low res screen makes reading also more uncomfortable than it should be.
>PSP was the designated VN machine in japan
Yet, nobody can name a single one without google.
The original Danganronpa should be an obvious one that everyone knows.
That's a Vita title.
I tire of wasting my time with shitty bait. We all have only limited time on this earth, why are you doing this? Even people faking some tiktok shit video at least do it for money and some internet hype.
No seriously, nobody fricking played it until the Vita. Stop acting like Twilight Princess wasn't a Wii title.
Maybe if you were a reddit user or in your dad's ballsack back then. At least on Ganker Danganronpa got first popular with the translation of the original PSP game.
you can't see it because the ip counter is gone but this is my first post in the thread
you are a moron and should shut the FRICK up
Just because you're a secondary doesn't mean everyone else is
The frick are you taking about? I had TP for the Game Cube, a lot of my friends had it too.
VNs suck dick. It has superior point and click adventures and puzzlers instead.
screen too smarr, ugry fonto
It did, at least compared to other consoles. You didn't see more of them because Nintendo wouldn't allow them without at least some barebones gimmicky "gameplay"
It did have a lot of VNs and adventure games.
It had enough.
Ace Attorney alone was 6 games.
Then 2 Hotel Dusk.
Infinite Space (awesome game)
999
3 or 4 Professor Layton
It had a bunch of other visual novels that I can't remember the name but remember playing on my R4.
NDS Lite was the pinnacle of handheld gaming.
The hinge broke too easily.
The same reason phones don't have that many visual novels: because it's fricking embarrassing to play them in public.
>it's fricking embarrassing to play them in public.
meanwhile
I remember a time where almost everyone was playing this fricking garbage at work.
those can be played with one hand without paying attention.
>no characters to get attached to
>no childish plots
>no self-inserting or role-playing
>it's just slots so not video game-y
yeah, and I can assure you, you look like a fricking drooling fool when you play this... thing? in public.
Do you really when everyone else is?
yes, and I'm tired of pretending it's not.
Because it focused more on making actual good quality games.
Bro?
Is that the girlfriend simulator?
If you have the means, get yourself a DSi XL.
It's so fricking good. Screens are massive and super clear.
>Compensating with a DS of all things
PSP existed and had them all.
