you play forever on one quarter
you can bump and shake the machine and its part of the game
nice big surface to set your beer and pizza on while you play
bro just lets open some cold ones and play some pinball yeah brah im just setting my pizza and my beer on the pinball i am a normal person duder look at me
I would backhand you immediately for that shit. Had little nigglets ban water bottles at my local spot cause they kept placing that shit on top of the machine and fried a old mechanical after it dumped into the sides of a recently restored Fish Tales. It really sucks cause i usually play ddr and pump it up and having water on standby is nice
>set beer and pizza on surface >bump and shake machine >can't see ball because spilt beer and pizza grease is everywhere >can no longer play for a quarter >no longer have pizza and beer
>you can bump and shake the machine and its part of the game
aren't there a ton of machines that have sensors in them that disable the entire game if you tilt them or shake them because you're NOT supposed to do that because it's cheating?
Yes most tables have a tilt sensor but it only activates if you move it too much
It's designed for you to be able to move it up to a certain threshold and staying under that threshold is an important part of the game too
pinball designers actually embraced shaking the machine as a mechanic and gave the players some leeway. figuring out how much you can jolt and jostle the machine around is part of the fun.
unfortunately arcade operators are dicks sometimes and will try to have you removed even though it's completely legal.
You get two warnings called dangers for moving the machine too much. If you don't suck you can consistently bump the machine without getting any dangers, and do a slide save for one danger. If you're putting yourself in situations where you need to do 3 slide saves to stay alive, that's entirely your fault.
>you can bump and shake the machine
in what part of the world do you live? these things are are always nailed to the floor
No real arcade or pinball place would do that, sliding and bumping is an important and legitimate mechanic. Even so, you can still bump it without actually sliding the game.
I miss pinball machines. Can't afford or have the place to buy my own and emulators are not even close to the real thing. I haven't seen one in the wild for over 15+ years now around here, probably even close to 20.
>finally go to a barcade >it's...pretty good >bartender messes up my jagerbomb but promptly corrects it on my request (she didn't put the shotglass in the drink glass so I could chug both at once) >shamble over to a mother fricking House of The Dead 4 Cabinet >put a quarter in both light guns and dual wield >let a random drunk guy come in at the last boss, promptly lose all 4 lives instantly and leave me struggling with one gun, but still finished with 2 cc's
and the the ceiling caved in on the place a month a later
i dont like pinball because i think a lot of the appeal was just identifying with the technology before video games blasted off and im a bit too young for that
older millennials and gen x shit and farted themselves for pinball though
i do like pokemon pinball and sonic spinball sometimes tho
Well i got some news for you, technology made a lot of new functions possible for pinball, look up the p3 system and there is a touch screen ball field for your zoomie receptors to gawk at. The Wierd Al one is pretty damn awesome
i'm 32 and still piss shit and coom over pinball machines
it's a tactile thing you completely influence with your own skill, it's just a good endorphin rush when you bank a really nice shot and get a compliment froma fellow pinball boomer, and high scores keep it competitive
>pressing the flipper button just right and seeing the ball ramp up the flipper and ascend into the heavens >it didn't hit it like a ball against a bat it rolled along the length like evil canevil
Its the little things you can't get by just watching, you have to be playing.
Cause its fun, very hands on and mechanical. New and old themes hit great and there is always strategy and a lot of skill involved in getting good scores. People who call pinball random need to GIT GUD
They released 11 new tables in just the past 2 weeks.
>3 Star Trek tables >Duke Nukem >Chucky >Dead by Daylight >Snoopy Christmas >The Thing >3 based on tabletop board games properties (GloomHaven/Exploding Kittens/Terraforming Mars)
played both the mario ones at vegas pinball hall of fame. They are both incredibly fun and you can get a high score freeplay a good amount of the time. True kino right there
Amazingly engineered & designed.
Perfect blend of skill + luck.
Lots of physical feedback.
Light and sound show. Total auditory assault like old arcade games.
Cool classic themes of IP's you probably fricking love.
Nice cabinet art.
Literally maintains its value as a valuable asset.
The precursor to videogames.
Deep rulesets.
Great actually good community.
Hobby hasn't been infiltrated and subverted by attention seeking women.
>back in highschool there was a gas station across the street with a few arcade games and a pinball machine that rotated between Terminator 2 and Addams Family every few months as the owner had another gas station he'll swap machines between every now and then. >one time he was playing T2 on free play (and telling the kids watching him to buzz off as he wasn't giving them free games) and his definition of 'nudging' was lifting the fricking front and slamming the machine down. >of course it Tilted more often than not.
Surprisingly he didn't fricking break it but good god even young teenage me was shocked at that rough treatment.
It's actually really fun and you should be envious of anyone that had a pinball cabinet at home.
Digital pinball is a joke, but the real deal is great fun.
Humping the cabinet for the tilt really does work and it does get girls to cum on demand. They are in your basement looking at your personal arcade and bar set up so they were going to be cumming but the humping always does the trick.
Its the only western made industry that hasnt gone woke its 99% played by white men and against all odds it survived videogames and its still going strong.
I think the latter is the big reason why kids today can't appreciate pinball. It is nowhere near the same as it's a completely different experience playing an actual physical machine instead of a simulation.
there's a weight and satisfaction to the 'analogue' machines that simply isn't present in the videogames, in their place they just need to do their best to simulate and replicate physics, Pinball Arcade comes closest without trying to oversell visual effects.
I like Pinball FX too, but it's basically the zoomerfied version of Pinball.
Zaccaria Pinball's decent, too.
Some Machines are really intricate and full of soul. A friend of mine collects them and we played one based on godzilla. It was incredible with tons of moving parts, music and destructive enviroment
It's not random at all you just have to learn the rules of the table
That being said tables made before the 80s tend to be much simpler in term of goals and overall complexity
Watch this and you'll probably get a general feel for how pinball works
Anyway I do highly recommend setting up VPX and getting into virtual pinball it's really good these days although nothing can ever truly replace the real thing
Its a big ask and not the market they want. Pinball machines cost around a middle end used car new and for a very niche community. Only now pinball designs are easing up on some difficulty in favor of more experiemntal and acessible ways of play aka Toy Story 4 and Hot Wheels. Toy Story 4 especially considering its the easier of the games to get the wizard finalie with two paths.
They make explore in this but its a big commitment for a company to approve of and get right
lol I had this exact thing buy it was Crash Bandicoot.
And by had, I broke it last week and tossed it out, wouldn't have gotten more then 30 dollars for it on Ebay anyway, so not a huge loss.
Black Rose was the one I was really enamoured with
Lucky for me my city has a massive arcade that's free play, you pay $20 and get 7 hours of all the arcade and pinball action you could want
Yeah, read that they removed things like blood and alcohol from other games' artwork too.
Sure love having other companies telling you the things you grew up with isn't safe for viewership now as kids will turn into mass murderers if they see cleavage on a 30 year old pinball table.
It makes me seem like a npc but I actually do love the Addams Family machine. Also I posted Cyclone's backglass earlier as that's one of my favorites too.
>also like indiana jones
Yeah the whole widebody set it was released with is fantastic. Star Trek: TNG is my favorite from it, but all 3 are definitely great
The OG Jurassic Park pinball with the gun ball launcher. I know it's not the best table, and it needs constant repairs because of all the shaking but damn if we didn't have fun on that thing for hours. The orange light matrix mini-screen, the audio clips from the movie, the whole fricking machine shaking during T-rex multiball. Perfection.
I would love to own a real machine. But they are so expensive. And Maintaining them mean learning a whole skill. If I were a millionnaire, I would make a game room with 5 of them.
Crazy how a machine is the price of a whole used car.
There is no factory in china churning them out, they are assembled by hand in first world countries, at least in the past. Maybe now they just have them assembled somewhere else and coast off the prices they have always historically been.
my moms friend worked at willams in the 70s and went uncredited for a lot of the programming that went into pinball machines and eventually became a nobody in the eyes of the industry at the time since he never could prove it. poor guy
Wonder if he could have gotten away with hiding his name in the programming like a lot of people did back then. Apparently it was pretty common at Williams if the Cutting Room Floor is anything to go by.
Pinball actually sucks because it's not random enough. Go watch some tournament videos and see how boring high level play is. Winning strategy is to keep the ball under control at all times. Good players don't even play multiballs if they can avoid it, instead trapping all but one ball and playing them one at a time. The whole genre rewards safe and boring play.
Pinball is fun as shit once you get the hang of it. Shame the only game with good tables is israeli as shit. Pirating it is a huge pain in the ass, and I'm not spending 400+ dollars
Yeah, it's pretty based, even Brazilians recreated the rip off william's tables they had there in the 80's and 90's. I love it and many people make their own tables from it. Owners of tables recreate every last detail of their games, even if the ball get constantly stuck like in Funhouse. And they recreate and finish old beta tables like Krull that were never released.
And by "make their own tables" I mean actual, physical tables they set up with a sideways screen, they can flip through hundreds of tables with vpinmame.
You guys need to check out some good tables, if you think it's all generic. I'll list my favorites here: >Tales of the Arabian Nights >Medieval Madness >Gorgar >Elvira: Scared Stiff >Space Shuttle
There's others, too, but these are a good start.
Black Knight 2000, frick yeah. Pinball is just neat. There's a lot of artistry and mechanical wizardry that went into making a fun, thematically-interesting pinball machine. Even as a millennial I can appreciate them, although they're too expensive for me to really ever own one. A shame, that. Would love to own BK2000 or House of Magic.
They usually have some unique gameplay elements about them, but you can still enjoy them without knowing what the frick you're supposed to be doing. It's the perfect game for ADHD kids if they weren't so spoiled by modern gaming.
I'm not to far from the Alameda pinball museum, awesome place, employees were super friendly. They have a really cool set of experimental tables as well like a gravity well based on, and one based on Motorcross with a cool lap gimmick.
Black knight 2000 is the only pinball machine I've ever wanted. It's music is just too strong https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FASUZRYs0fM&ab_channel=VGMHallofFame
Why the frick are these fricking things so expensive? It’s just a big furniture with springs inside. Back when I was a kid I asked my mom for the Space Jam one and she just started laughing at idea of burning her money on a pinball machine.
vpin is so fricking cancer oh my god.
I've spent so many years emulating and modding games but getting vpin to work properly is like pulling fricking teeth. I eventually gave up and just stick to pinballfx Williams tables.
>random
Nah, this is the same as people who think fighting games are played by just mashing buttons. You can time your shots very accurately if you play enough pinball, you just never learned the controls. Then each machine has different objectives that you usually complete in an order but its not random once you know the controls you can control your shots and choose when you activate what event.
yes?
you play forever on one quarter
you can bump and shake the machine and its part of the game
nice big surface to set your beer and pizza on while you play
bro just lets open some cold ones and play some pinball yeah brah im just setting my pizza and my beer on the pinball i am a normal person duder look at me
Frick yourself.
Schizo moment.
you sure youre not the one whos been drinking?
>bro just lets open some cold ones and play some pinball yeah brah im just setting my pizza and my beer on the pinball
>placing food and drink on the glass
I would backhand you immediately for that shit. Had little nigglets ban water bottles at my local spot cause they kept placing that shit on top of the machine and fried a old mechanical after it dumped into the sides of a recently restored Fish Tales. It really sucks cause i usually play ddr and pump it up and having water on standby is nice
No you wouldn't gay
You sound like a sad sack
Stop being a sad sack
>Having inert Dragon Balls.
How you gonna shake the machine if your beer is on it? Won't the beer fall?
A man knows when to grab his beer and tilt.
>random shit
literal skill issue
>you can bump and shake the machine and its part of the game
this dude never heard of a tilt meter
good luck with that
The tilt meter does not invalidate light pushing
>set beer and pizza on surface
>bump and shake machine
>can't see ball because spilt beer and pizza grease is everywhere
>can no longer play for a quarter
>no longer have pizza and beer
>bar/arcade owner kills you and leaves your body on the floor to serve as an example
>you can bump and shake the machine and its part of the game
yeah until the glass collapses in and you have to pay up a good 2 grand
>you can bump and shake the machine and its part of the game
aren't there a ton of machines that have sensors in them that disable the entire game if you tilt them or shake them because you're NOT supposed to do that because it's cheating?

It can damage the machines, and some people do it way to hard. I can understand why they do it
>It can damage the machines
That's what the tilt sensor is for. Point is shaking is part of the game.
You get two warnings called dangers for moving the machine too much. If you don't suck you can consistently bump the machine without getting any dangers, and do a slide save for one danger. No real arcade or pinball place would do that, sliding and bumping is an important and legitimate mechanic. Even so, you can still bump it without actually sliding the game.
It's even a feature in some pinball video games, funnily enough.
There are even machines that let you earn back warnings for nudging too hard
>you can bump and shake the machine
in what part of the world do you live? these things are are always nailed to the floor
Beem holding onto this for almost 16 hours and finally have a chance to use it.
I have a top 5 world record score in this
What are the odds, so do I.
Original bing bing wahoo, without the wahoo.
It's not as random as you might think, OP.
>random
Skill issue
You honestly have to be deaf, dumb, and blind to enjoy pinball.
I'm deaf, dumb, and blind, but I sure play a mean pinball.
I miss pinball machines. Can't afford or have the place to buy my own and emulators are not even close to the real thing. I haven't seen one in the wild for over 15+ years now around here, probably even close to 20.
I have like 3 different barcades where I live that are filled with them
>barcades
DUDE DUDE LETS GET WASTED AND ACT LIKE CHILDREN
Barcades suck, but at the same time, I dislike children. Only place you can go to play cabs and avoid little shit eaters.
Highly depends on the barcade. Midwest probably has the highest quality ones and usually runs pinball tourneys which are a blast
Disliking things isn't a personality.
>im a huge no fun homosexual
Fatty fatty no friends
>arcades
>Fine
>Arcade that serve alcohol and only allow 18+
>Not fine
>finally go to a barcade

>put a quarter in both light guns and dual wield
>let a random drunk guy come in at the last boss, promptly lose all 4 lives instantly and leave me struggling with one gun, but still finished with 2 cc's
and the the ceiling caved in on the place a month a later
>and the the ceiling caved in on the place a month a later
Lmao
......dude you put the shot in yourself the frick is wrong with you
How is that any different then a bar without arcade games?
As opposed to what anon? Being depressed? Need AA?
I have never once seen someone at a barcade actually be drunk.
There's a hockey rink near me with an Addams Family. Shits cash bro
i dont like pinball because i think a lot of the appeal was just identifying with the technology before video games blasted off and im a bit too young for that

Its the little things you can't get by just watching, you have to be playing.
I used to think this too until I realized there were stages you unlock by making certain shots and it progresses from there.
Maybe you'll figure that out too?
some guy added a batmobile to this at a bowling ally and i thought it was the coolest shit ever
Cause its fun, very hands on and mechanical. New and old themes hit great and there is always strategy and a lot of skill involved in getting good scores. People who call pinball random need to GIT GUD
it's fun, and really not that random
A pinball machine is pretty interesting thing. I have never got to play one as long as I’d like. I bet a street fighter pinball game would be fun.
Sadly never played it myself.
There was a generic Super Mario one and a Super Mario World one too around that time that I also never saw.
i only got to play 3 or 4 pinball machines my whole life.
i remember the mario one, it had bricks you could smash from below.
>you'll never slam your balls into Peach's bonus room
why live
Does Zen Pinball even still make new DLC tables anymore?
Even if they did they'll never touch things like such as these
due to licensing issues so they would be lost to time other than things like PinMAME which most people don't know about or how to set up correctly.
They released 11 new tables in just the past 2 weeks.
>3 Star Trek tables
>Duke Nukem
>Chucky
>Dead by Daylight
>Snoopy Christmas
>The Thing
>3 based on tabletop board games properties (GloomHaven/Exploding Kittens/Terraforming Mars)
I liked Pinball Arcade more, Zen always feels off.
Based, too bad about all the licensing shit basically fricking it all up.
played both the mario ones at vegas pinball hall of fame. They are both incredibly fun and you can get a high score freeplay a good amount of the time. True kino right there
Thread is just manlets seething because they needed a stool to see the whole table
Manlet here.
I love me some pinball action every other weekend and I definitely need a stool to see the whole table.
my friend got dunk and fell on one of these and we had to book it back in the day. thats my only experience with them
You just had to be there.
haha they look like babies
Never played on a real machine before. Always wanted to tho.
u must understand that when pinball was big everyone was on quaaludes or cocaine
Its fun
skill issue
it's random if you lack the muscle mass to play the game properly by nudging the machine to manipulate the ball, scrub
Pinball is somehow in a second golden era right now
So many crazy tables coming out.
You're supposed to "tilt" (it's more like shoving) the machine gently to keep the ball in play, but not so much you trigger the tilt detector.
I like pinball because it can't be emulated.
Amazingly engineered & designed.
Perfect blend of skill + luck.

What's not to love, homosexual?
>Hobby hasn't been infiltrated and subverted by attention seeking women.
Because they are too weak to tilt.
>back in highschool there was a gas station across the street with a few arcade games and a pinball machine that rotated between Terminator 2 and Addams Family every few months as the owner had another gas station he'll swap machines between every now and then.

Surprisingly he didn't fricking break it but good god even young teenage me was shocked at that rough treatment.
I knew a ton of guys that tilted like like that because humping the cabinet was "gay."
>"Why do boomers love pinball? Literally just random shit happening the game"
>zoomer's favorite genre is roguelikes
Pinball wizard dude
Its the only western made industry that hasnt gone woke its 99% played by white men and against all odds it survived videogames and its still going strong.
>he doesn't know how to catch and aim his shots
Do zoomoids really?
I've never seen a pinball machine in real life but I liked pokemon pinball
Was that WR pace?
look at him go
Sonic Spinball's pretty fun once you get past the godawful music.
it's fine if it hasn't clicked for you, makes me wonder if you've ever used a real machine, yourself, or only played the video game versions
I think the latter is the big reason why kids today can't appreciate pinball. It is nowhere near the same as it's a completely different experience playing an actual physical machine instead of a simulation.

How does vpx work with just a desktop and controller? Is it still playable?
Why wont nintendo make new pinball vidya with their IPs
Its sad Japan fell in love with the moronic cousin pachinko instead
Its a big ask and not the market they want. Pinball machines cost around a middle end used car new and for a very niche community. Didn't that come out a few years ago for one of the official pinball emulators and they censored all the artwork?
dios mio...
Why though? Just because of cleavage?
Yeah, read that they removed things like blood and alcohol from other games' artwork too.
Sure love having other companies telling you the things you grew up with isn't safe for viewership now as kids will turn into mass murderers if they see cleavage on a 30 year old pinball table.
because they had nothing better and autistic hands could make a fortune making them back in the day
"pinball is all randomness" is the biggest cope by losers who can't into bumping.
Also post your favorite machines. For me it's Monster Bash
It makes me seem like a npc but I actually do love the Addams Family machine. Also I posted Cyclone's backglass earlier as that's one of my favorites too.
also like indiana jones
theres a couple of good arcades in Austin, pinball and vidya

Yeah the whole widebody set it was released with is fantastic. Star Trek: TNG is my favorite from it, but all 3 are definitely great
For me it's the Elvira table, I got my highest score & longest game on one.
For me, it's Black Hole by Gottlieb
it was theater of magic for a long time but lately I've been enjoying champions pub
The OG Jurassic Park pinball with the gun ball launcher. >can't play bride of pinbot because i'll get a chub looking at the art
It feels powerful. It's inherently fun like firing a gun.
Off-topic you homosexual. Go back to your gay fricking video games.
Point based games are the pinnacle of vidya. Git gud.
Pinball FX2 VR is fantastic on my rift cv1. It’s pretty shit on Quest 3.
I've been looking for this webm for years now, thanks

There are still companies in the US making VERY high quality pinball machines. Stern is pumping out amazing machines.
my moms friend worked at willams in the 70s and went uncredited for a lot of the programming that went into pinball machines and eventually became a nobody in the eyes of the industry at the time since he never could prove it. poor guy
that's weird because my dad is the CEO of pinball

his initials would be w.m and these dont seem to mention that at all, neat to gloss through though. he also worked on the apple port of duke nukum 2
Did he bang your mom?
Pinball actually sucks because it's not random enough. Go watch some tournament videos and see how boring high level play is. Winning strategy is to keep the ball under control at all times. Theatre of Magic
White Water
Attack from Mars
Dr. Dude

Johnny Mnemonic
Also I did have fun with this one
Because vp9, vpx and vpinmame exist. You can make your own machines with them.
BK2000 has the most ridiculously high effort song I've ever heard in pinball. Fricking fantastic https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FASUZRYs0fM
there are plenty of good or even great pinball themes, but BK2000 is in a league of its own.
They usually have some unique gameplay elements about them, but you can still enjoy them without knowing what the frick you're supposed to be doing. It's the perfect game for ADHD kids if they weren't so spoiled by modern gaming.
what tables are near you lads?

I'm not to far from the Alameda pinball museum, awesome place, employees were super friendly. They have a really cool set of experimental tables as well like a gravity well based on, and one based on Motorcross with a cool lap gimmick.
How come nobody has made a game that's just 100s of classic machines
Pinball FX exists, though fx3 is much better
Ultracade has been around for a long time now.
>Zoomers hate pinball
I didn't think that your generation could get any worse, but you have managed it.
For me, it's the Addams Family pinball machine. And flipping alongside the finger snaps after every ball
>For me, it's the Addams Family pinball machine. And flipping alongside the finger snaps after every ball
haha lights flash, numbers go up, ding ding ding

Its a simple but happy life
Black knight 2000 is the only pinball machine I've ever wanted. It's music is just too strong https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FASUZRYs0fM&ab_channel=VGMHallofFame
that song sucks
Why the frick are these fricking things so expensive? It’s just a big furniture with springs inside. Back when I was a kid I asked my mom for the Space Jam one and she just started laughing at idea of burning her money on a pinball machine.
All of the electronics inside, they are a b***h to assemble and maintain. That's why you should just use vpx and vpinmame and make a virtual table.
supply and demand
plus it's not as simple as a couch or table
What's the coolest pinball table Ganker?
Johnny Mnemonic or the Sopranos imo
Oh frick I want one
Why do morons generalise everything and everyone to fit their argument?
I couldn't give a shit about pinball.
The same reason why slot machines are designed around pretty colors and constant rewards.
ah yes
to extract FIFTY CENTS from us
Touchscreen phones are literally built for pinball games but stupid fricking companies don't make them.
they're souless and no one wants them
There's just something about late 80s tables
I love them the most
Is VPX better than Mame Pinball? I tried Mame pinball, and was very unimpressed with it.
vpx and vpinmame compliment each other. You use vpx for the tables people have recreated and vpinmame for the roms of the original games.
They're pretty.
If you're super fricking bored at a bar, they're better than slots.
vpin is so fricking cancer oh my god.
I've spent so many years emulating and modding games but getting vpin to work properly is like pulling fricking teeth. I eventually gave up and just stick to pinballfx Williams tables.
Getting a pizza/beer and playing pinball in a bar with the lads = more based than any homosexual gaming experience today
Buying old chinese plywood-replicated pinball machines to show off in your house = cringe

Frick OP, best pinball games?
I say Pinball FX3 is the best with all the Williams machines they added.
It's pretty funny great. It even had a few of my favorites. pic related
>random
Nah, this is the same as people who think fighting games are played by just mashing buttons. You can time your shots very accurately if you play enough pinball, you just never learned the controls. Then each machine has different objectives that you usually complete in an order but its not random once you know the controls you can control your shots and choose when you activate what event.
>random shit
literal skill issue
