i don't get it either i always loved this part, evne as a kid. it was fun going through the hub world to talk to brentilda and remmeber all the trivia bits. you also get some skips so you can pass on those questions if you don't want to do them.
I think it's funny that people criticize speedrunners for not playing the game when almost every time they've played the game far more than anyone else even outside the context of a speedrun.
Theoretically speedrunners should fucking love quizzes, as long as they aren't designed in a bullshit way that can invalidate your entire run. It's fun you get your knowledge and skills put to the test which is what speedrunners like
hard to memorize anything with your parents yelling in the background orchestra
For an ESL kid this was absolute hell
You are all excused
Either people shut thwir brain off while playing and then bitch and whine at the prospect of being asked unknown/overlooked stuff OR people genuinely not liking the game (but for some reason going throught the whole game) getting pissed off to memorize stuff from something they didn't enjoy in the first place
Perfect modern example is the pisspoor reception from ecelebs on the quiz in Yooka-Laylee, here included in another of those's "analyses" while giving its two cents (skip at about 4:00 for the full segment)
Oh god we need more of this, just compiling what a whole host of game review people say that are dumb fucking takes and showing WHY all their takes are dumb as fuck

I loved the quiz game in Banjo Kazooie, but I hated Yooka-Laylee's version.
BK had one as a final test in the game, and it's supposed to get the player to laugh and go "WTF, are you serious!?" There were multiple paths and skip cards, not only did you have to answer questions, you had to figure out the best path.
YL had them before every hub change, it's no longer a WTF moment, it's expected. You walk a linear path and can't pick the categories of questions.
Also, being able to run around the board made it more interactive. YL felt restrictive.
Soul vs souless gets memed around, but this is a perfect example of it.
>plays entire game on auto-pilot without absorbing anything so they can get back to fortnite as soon as possible >gets angry at the quiz, blames the game and says the game is bad
The Gruntilda questions are the only thing I had trouble with.
I just thought they were neat little phrases. I didn't know I had to memorize them.
Otherwise all the other questions are super obvious. A smart player can even avoid all the Gruntilda questions.
They button mash through all dialogue and don't pay attention to anything in the game around them, obviously. You can see it often when they upload "blind playthroughs" or "first playthroughs" of a game - they ignore all text and mash until the scary box preventing them from playing goes away, then get angry when they don't know how a mechanic (which was blatantly explained to them) works.
game sucks
take it back
I have fun playing it.
>just memorize shit bro
waste of time
Sounds like the coping of a man with low IQ and whom wants games to hand him victory with zero effort on his part
>muh iq
high iq person wouldn't be wasting time on shit that doesn't matter lol, grow the fuck up
hard to memorize anything with your parents yelling in the background orchestra
because they're retards

I don't recall having any problems with it as a child. I think this quiz is or was mainly a problem for speedrunners.
thank you, that explains it. Some trannies having fault with this preschool tier part was baffeling but you connected the dots for me
I think its funny that people play games to play them, but speedrunners play games to not play them.

I don't care, they're still gays for shitting on the best parts of games because they don't gel with their absurdly autistic view of the game.
Quads of truth

>"not to play them"
yeah let's just ignore the fact that they spend thousands of hours playing the game to get a perfect run
rage quitting the game because some npc walked wrong and then getting a mental breakdown isn't really playing a game.
Yeah, OoT and Morrowind speedrunners totally play the game when all they do is execute a glitch that skips right to the end.
Heavily RNG involved which kills runs very easily.
For an ESL kid this was absolute hell
This.

I skipped almost the entire thing with a glitch :^)
I loved the quiz, it was simply fun.

I think every game worth its salt should implement a anti speed run segment like this thatll brutalize fags
>plays entire game on auto-pilot without absorbing anything so they can get back to fortnite as soon as possible
>gets angry at the quiz, blames the game and says the game is bad
I always liked Tower of Tragedy more.
I really like that Gruntilda just kills her own sisters. That always gets a big laugh out of me.
The music was great

It's cool to make people up OP
I'd argue quiz in tooie was worse, way less stylish and more annoying.
All Kazooie levels are pretty memorable
>dude what if mario 64 but slow, the characters make stupid noises constantly while running/jumping, and with lots of shitty minigames
mogged by spyro

It does suck if the Skull space gives you a Grunty Question.
Also if you read a walkthrough for this part you didn't beat the game.
The only shitty part is the Grunty/Brentilda quiz questions. Was there anyone who was actually prepared for that the first time they made it here?
I've never gotten around to playing this, should I emulate the original release or should I buy a copy of rare replay?
